Chapter 14 - Chapter 14: Between Hours

The work did not end,It only paused.

"…That should be everything for now." Jude leaned back slightly, eyes scanning the ordered stacks.

"…Feels strange seeing it this clean."

Lunivara adjusted the edge of the final document.

"…It is only temporary." Lunivara replied in a certain way.

Jude let out a short breath, half amused.

"*Chortle*…I'll take the temporary over chaos."

A quite, easy pause settled between them. Just… complete.

Then—

"Dong—"

The bell echoed through the halls.

Jude glanced toward the door.

"It's time."

Lunivara straightened.

"…Yes."

They stepped out together, keeping a perfect, measured space between them.

The hallway was already filling with students ,voices layered over each other and movement returning all at once.

Jude slowed slightly.

"…You go ahead. I'll return something first."

Lunivara gave a small nod.

"…Then I will proceed." Jude added. "…See you later."

A simple casual phrase.

Lunivara paused—just for a moment.

"…Yes."

Then she walked on.

The academy felt different again, as though it kept changing it's atmosphere.

"…She's been going to the sword club…"

"…Is that allowed?"

"…Why her…?"

The whispers lingered, but grew softer and less certain.

Lunivara passed them without reaction.

["Hm..I guess they are no longer sure"]

She entered the classroom, and the noise dipped into a watchful quite.

A chair shifted beside her.

"Slide—"

"…Good afternoon your highness" Velarisse said her voice gentle as always.

Lunivara turned toward her direction slightly.

"…Good afternoon lady Thyselle"

A brief pause.

Velarisse's fingers tightened faintly against her sleeve.

"I see that you've been busy your highness"

"…With assigned tasks."velarisse continued. "…At the sword club?"

Velarisse asked it carefully, her tone warm and inviting rather than accusing.

"…Yes."

Another pause, but longer.

Velarisse lowered her gaze for a moment.

"…That place is usually difficult to enter."

"…I was instructed to assist." Lunivara replied.["I can't imagine she's actually a bit talky"]

Lunivara's tone remained even or unchanged.

Velarisse looked back at her, this time holding her gaze.

"…I see."

But the words felt unfinished. After some moments the lesson began soon after.

Voices shifted into structure and order returned.

Time passed—quietly.

Until—

"…You've changed." Velarisse spoke again, softer this time.

Lunivara's hand paused over her notes.

Just slightly.

["I hope she didn't meant that I'm not the real lunivara...for now relax...we still don't know"]

"...In what way?" Lunivara answers.

Velarisse hesitated, searching for words.

"…I don't know yet." She gave a faint, uncertain smile. "...But it feels different."

Lunivara looked forward.

["I guess she can't define it...I'm glad~"]

"There is nothing to confirm...then"

Velarisse didn't argue, but she didn't agree either.

"…Maybe."

The conversation ended there, however the feeling did not.

["That was weird though"] Lunivara said in her thoughts.

"Dong—"

The bell rang again.

Students began to move, chairs shifting and voices returning.

Lunivara stood calmly and composed as always.

While walking through the hallway—she noticed him immediately. Leaning lightly against the wall as if waiting to someone.

"…You're done?" Jude asked as he straightened as he saw her.

"…Yes."

"…Good." Jude said, he pushed off the wall, adjusting his sleeve. "…There's another stack waiting."

A small pause—

"…Not as bad as earlier."

Lunivara met his gaze briefly.

"…Understood."

Jude smiled slightly.

"…You really don't complain, do you?"

"…There is no reason to."

"…However it still sounds like a problem."

A faint pause.

"…Perhaps."

Jude let out a quiet breath, almost a laugh.

"…Alright. Come on."

This time—they walked together, because it was starting to feel natural.

"May I ask Sir Jude—"

"Just Jude... Please call me Jude only Lady Morcant"

"..Understood...Jude"

Hearing his name made him light up, filing him with the quite thrill of budding friendship.
