Saori called Yoru on a Thursday evening, her voice doing the thing it did when she was trying to sound casual about something that wasn't casual at all.
"So funny story," she said. "I got offered a position. Marketing coordinator, this design firm. Good pay, actually decent hours for once in my miserable freelance life."
"That's amazing," Yoru said. "Why do you sound weird about it."
"Because the office is, like, eight minutes from your house," Saori said. "And my current apartment situation is genuinely falling apart — my roommate's moving out, the rent's about to spike, and I just — I keep thinking about how nice it would be to actually live somewhere that isn't a complete disaster, somewhere with people in it who actually like me."
Yoru sat up straighter on her bed.
"Are you asking what I think you're asking," she said.
"I don't know," Saori said. "Is it insane? It feels insane. Asking to move into your harem mansion because my life is a mess and the commute works out."
