Chapter 12 — The Black Fleet and the Vampire Siblings
Kai walked along the starboard railing of the massive flagship, eyes scanning the convoy stretching behind them. Dozens of warships sailed in perfect formation, each one beautiful and terrifying at the same time. Their dark hulls gleamed with reinforced obsidian plating, heavy cannons lined the decks, and strange crystalline weapons—clearly not ordinary guns—hummed with contained energy. Thousands of armed guards and crew moved with disciplined precision across every vessel. Whatever those weapons fired, it was deadly enough to make the sea itself hesitate.
Yet the creature that had risen earlier had been sliced apart before any cannon could roar. Kai's mind kept returning to that moment. *That wasn't from these ships.*
He pushed away from the railing and headed deeper into the flagship, searching for his assigned quarters. When he found the door and opened it, he froze.
Crystal was already inside, sitting on the edge of the only bed in the room, calmly brushing her long black hair. She glanced at him without surprise.
Kai immediately stepped back and closed the door.
"Nope," he muttered, turning on his heel. "Not dealing with that right now."
He wandered further through the fleet instead, crossing swaying rope bridges and narrow gangways between ships. The vessels looked ancient—wood that should have rotted centuries ago, barnacle-encrusted hulls that belonged on the bottom of the ocean rather than sailing on top of it. The sea itself was pitch black, an inky void that seemed to swallow light. Kai could feel thousands of unseen eyes watching from beneath the surface.
The sky had turned stormy. Cold rain lashed down, and the ships rocked violently. The deck pitched so hard he had to grab ropes just to stay upright. Still, one question burned in his mind more than the danger:
*Who cut that giant sea monster in half?*
He crossed bridge after bridge, moving from supply ships filled with eerie glowing crates, to troop carriers packed with hardened warriors, to strange vessels carrying bizarre glowing livestock. On one ship, a fish-headed sailor offered him an apple. Except it wasn't an apple. The fruit had a tiny screaming face and wailed loudly when he got close. Kai politely declined and kept moving.
None of the crews carried the kind of presence he was looking for. No special glow. No overwhelming aura. Just disciplined fighters.
Finally, as he looked back toward the largest flagship, he spotted a lone figure standing at the highest observation platform, wings slightly spread, staring up at the blood-red moon breaking through the clouds.
Kai didn't hesitate. He sprinted across the deck, leaped from the nineteenth ship, and soared through the rain in a powerful arc. He caught the edge of the flagship's upper structure, pulled himself up, and landed on the observation deck.
The man turned.
Tall. Deathly pale skin. Long black hair that partially hid his sharp features. He wore a tight black suit adorned with monstrous artifacts—gloves made of bat leather, boots crafted from scaled serpent hide, and a watch carved from glowing mythical wood. A massive high collar framed his neck like bat wings.
Kai straightened. "I suspect you're the one who cut down that giant fish."
The man looked down at him, then jumped gracefully to the same level. A faint smile revealed sharp fangs.
"Yes. It was me."
Kai studied him. "Who are you?"
The vampire showed his teeth fully. "I am Elias Crowe."
Kai nodded. "I'm Kai."
Elias tilted his head, long hair shifting. "I expected you were the new… succubus. Or rather, the human who carries a succubus artifact. You have sharp eyes as well."
Kai smiled faintly. "So, how did you do it? That cut on the sea monster."
Elias leaned back against the railing, rain sliding off his coat. "A vampiric technique. Something neither succubi nor most other races can replicate. It's not about raw power. It's about… consumption."
Kai crossed his arms. "Can you teach me something similar? Using my succubus powers?"
Elias's crimson eyes narrowed.
"The answer is no."
He continued calmly, voice low against the storm. "Your human mind probably thinks all power comes from one source, just divided among species. But this world doesn't work like that. This realm was first ruled by the Demon Lord. We—the current races—killed those who lived here before and took it. We fight constantly. The only reason total war hasn't broken out is the Council of Power. Without them, every race would be at each other's throats. Because monsters… that is our true nature."
Elias looked Kai dead in the eye. "Pray you never meet the old monsters still clinging to the old ways. They are far deadlier than anything you've faced."
He paused. "And for the record, it wasn't my attack that sliced the beast. It was similar, but weaker. It was my sister's attack."
A dangerous glint entered his eyes. "And as a succubus—human or not—do *not* get too close to my sister."
Kai raised both hands. "Got it. I'll stay away."
He took a step back—straight into something incredibly soft.
Two massive, warm pillows pressed against his back. Strong arms wrapped around him from behind, pulling him deep into an overwhelming embrace. A sweet, seductive voice whispered right against his ear.
"So you're the handsome one…"
Kai stiffened. The woman was tall, incredibly busty, with an equally impressive figure barely contained by an extremely tight black outfit identical in style to her brother's. The fabric clung to every curve, leaving almost nothing to the imagination.
She squeezed him tighter, smothering his face between her breasts. "Mmm… you smell delicious."
Kai struggled, voice muffled. "Okay—mmph—nice to meet you too—"
Elias sighed and pulled them apart with surprising strength. "Seraphina. Stop trying to kill the boy with your chest. We might need him."
Seraphina pouted, giving Kai a playful wink and making an unmistakable "fucking" gesture behind her brother's back as they turned to leave.
Kai coughed, catching his breath. "Right… good talk. Let's protect this convoy together."
Seraphina blew him a kiss over her shoulder. "If you ever feel trapped or scared, come to my room. I'll give you chocolate cake… and let you sleep between these as pillows~"
Elias dragged her away before she could demonstrate again.
Kai shook his head, rain still pouring down, and headed back down into the lower decks of the flagship. He found a quiet observation room halfway submerged in the hull. Thick reinforced glass let him look directly into the black water outside.
Hundreds of monstrous shapes moved in the darkness—glowing eyes, massive tentacles, jagged teeth. The sea truly was alive with death.
He pressed a hand against the cold glass.
"This trip is going to be a nightmare…"
