Chapter 43 - Chapter 43: Slumber

Perhaps Lisa truly didn't remember what she had experienced x over the past thirty years, but she was still filled with hatred for the Arklay Laboratory where she had been imprisoned.

Yet even with that hatred, Lisa's expression remained indifferent, just as no normal person would react as flatly as Lisa did after hearing about their own parents' deaths.

Asa didn't ask for her to cry her heart out, but she should at least show some reaction.

Either she was faking it and hadn't lost her memory, or there was some issue with her body.

After Asa told her to stay on the operating table, Lisa obediently stayed there, motionless.

Humans are a type of animal; thinking and ideas are all caused by the activity of the cerebral cortex.

At least that was the case in the resident evil world; souls did not exist in this world, and the moment death occurred, consciousness vanished.

Emotions were also produced through the promotion of various internal hormones and signals—joy, anger, sorrow, happiness, hatred—dopamine, endorphins, cortisol, norepinephrine, and so on.

As for Lisa's condition, Asa had determined that the chemical hormones in her body had dropped to their lowest levels.

In a human, such a deficiency would threaten a normal person's life and health, but Lisa was not human.

Rather than saying Lisa had returned from the dead, it would be more accurate to say that the current Lisa was merely a monster possessing a human form and consciousness.

Regarding hormone secretion, Asa had no way to fix it and could only let Lisa learn slowly in the days to come.

After fully understanding Lisa's situation, Asa let out a long sigh; as long as she didn't turn into a bloodthirsty monster that killed indiscriminately, he could slowly teach her in the future.

Only then did Asa notice that on the system, his relationship with Lisa had reached its peak.

"Reliance," was he considered Lisa's last remaining relative in this world?

Although this kinship was fake, seeing that Lisa had no intention of questioning or investigating it, the girl tacitly accepted that what Asa said was true.

Asa mood was slightly complicated; it seemed he was quite popular with young girls.

[Congratulations on obtaining "Favor," "Appreciation," "Trust," "Confidant," and "Unwavering" rank rewards. They have been distributed to the system warehouse.]

Two real-world items, two props, and one new ability.

What was worth noting was the ability rewarded for the "Unwavering" favorability level, which was the same as [Virus Adaptor] and [Infinite Overload].

[Inhuman Charm: Your ability to seduce female individuals among inhuman beings (possessing rationality) significantly increases. In the eyes of inhuman beings (♦), your presence is more conspicuous.]

WTF, what is this?

Inhuman beings, rationality—in the resident evil world, only those second-generation virus carriers and the final bosses of each game possessed these traits, but why was it a charm-based special attack?

He had always liked young, pretty girls; that did not include those bio-monsters.

The style suddenly developed in a hardcore direction.

After putting away the rewards from the favorability, Asa operated the base's computer, completely clearing and destroying all of Lisa's physical data. Finally, he initiated the base's self-destruct sequence.

Let Lisa's past be buried here along with her rebirth.

"Let's go."

Lisa nodded obediently, took hold of Asa hand hanging by his side with both of hers, and followed behind him.

Five minutes was plenty of time for two inhuman beings. It had been at least a few hours since Ada and the others had left the Mansion, so Asa didn't need to worry about the explosion affecting innocent bystanders.

Then again, would there really be any innocent bystanders in this vicinity?

To prevent the explosion from being insufficient, Asa took the liberty of adding two military-grade plastic explosives to the base.

Not long after the two left the Mansion, intense firelight erupted from behind them. The Mansion, the courtyard, the residential area, and the underground facilities were all blasted into the sky by the explosion, the flames illuminating half the sky in a deep red.

Asa and Lisa watched quietly. The shockwave rolled toward them from the direction of the Mansion. In the gale, the two remained motionless, the wind whipping Lisa's clothes, making them rustle.

A moment later, finding a secluded high ground, Asa dug a deep pit and laid George and Jessica's remains to rest inside.

Before leaving the Mansion, he had conveniently brought along the remains of Lisa's parents. Otherwise, having just restored Lisa to normal, only to have her parents' remains blown up along with the base immediately after would have been truly excessive.

"Rest in peace."

Once the burial was complete, Asa murmured a sentence, then looked at the silent Lisa beside him.

"Say goodbye?"

Lisa's frail figure stood there, her violet eyes like those of a fawn, filled with a sense of brokenness.

Asa was speechless; even though the revived Lisa was emotionally indifferent, she could not remain unmoved when facing her own parents' corpses.

After a long while, Lisa found a cluster of blooming flowers nearby and transplanted them onto her parents' grave.

"Asa, I want to leave now."

Lisa tugged on the corner of Asa clothes and said.

"Let's go, let's go home."

Asa took the initiative to hold Lisa's cold little hand.

...

Fortunately, the explosion at the Mansion did not affect Asa vintage car.

Holding Lisa's little hand and finding his vehicle, Asa was just about to open the car door when he suddenly felt a chill in his heart.

He instinctively dodged, his body moving backward five meters in an instant in a way that defied physics, while pulling Lisa into his arms.

Just two seconds after he had moved away, the bottom of Asa vintage car suddenly exploded. The car flew four or five meters into the air, then crashed heavily onto the ground, becoming a fireball.

"That was my damn car I just started driving!"

Asa cried out in pain, took Lisa, and hid in the jungle, switching his equipment to that of the 2077 World; neural synapses, optical camouflage, and network monitoring were all activated.

Intercepting the conversation of the people in the other party's radio system, the rats hiding in the dark immediately revealed their tracks.

It turned out to be the Delta Squad from the Umbrella Corporation's Special Forces (U.S.S.), the squad that had gone to the Training Facility to investigate in the original timeline and ended up being completely wiped out!

The Delta Squad that was re-formed after the total annihilation at the Training Facility was the Delta Wolfpack Squad in the Raccoon City operation. (There is also a theory that the Delta Squad was not re-formed, but only lost two members in resident evil 0, but that is not important; the one appearing now is not the Wolfpack Squad.)

Asa didn't know why the Delta Squad would appear here, nor did he know why the Delta Squad had targeted him, but he knew that Asa was about to go on a killing spree.

However, Lisa beside him tugged gently on the corner of Asa clothes. Having lost her memory but not her hatred for Umbrella Corporation, upon hearing Asa mention the Umbrella Corporation troops, and having just witnessed her parents' incomplete remains, hatred welled up in Lisa's eyes.

"Do you want to come?"

Asa looked at Lisa's youthful face, understanding the almost uncontrollable killing intent she felt.

"But you're a minor; wouldn't this be a bit too bloody?"

At this moment, Asa was obviously joking.

He had no intention of letting this poor soul get blood on her hands, but Lisa cared more about whether it was the blood of the Umbrella Corporation.

Stroking Lisa's flaxen hair, Asa said:

"Go."

As soon as his words fell, having received Asa permission, a terrifying thing happened to Lisa.

Perhaps Lisa truly didn't remember what she had experienced over the past thirty years, but she was still filled with hatred for the Arklay Laboratory where she had been imprisoned.
