Chapter 65 - Chapter 65: Nemesis and the Little Girl

The scene suddenly fell into a weird, silent atmosphere.

The reason for Lisa's silence was that she felt this big oaf was disgusting, and she really wanted to hit it. What was up with that?

In fact, Lisa's speed was not slow at all. She landed on the other side of the stadium. Plus, Asa had told her not to expose herself and not to transform into any other form, so Lisa had obediently followed the original paths of the stadium to get here, making her about 30 seconds slower than Nemesis, which had taken a shortcut.

As for Nemesis, it was completely stunned. Its biological instincts were telling it: Do not provoke this little one.

The quiet atmosphere did not last long. From the wall that Nemesis had crashed through inside the stadium, the sound of the earlier firefight had already drawn a large number of zombies.

Zombies: "So quiet."

Through Nemesis's towering figure, Leon and Chris could see a dense swarm of zombies pouring in from the breach.

At this juncture, Leon's reaction speed was faster. It was clear that Nemesis was not something they could handle with just their few pathetic little guns.

Leon shouted, "Chris!" and then pointed in the direction they had come from: "Time to retreat!"

Taking advantage of the fact that the monster was inexplicably in a daze, the S.T.A.R.S. Team prepared to retreat.

Meanwhile, Leon saw Lisa standing there, seemingly in a daze, and as he walked past, he couldn't help but want to pull her along with them.

However, the girl instead stepped forward, dodging Leon's large hand, and walked straight ahead.

"Hey!"

Nemesis finally reacted. With the technicians behind the scenes constantly resetting its chip, the information coming from its biological instincts told it: The little girl in front of it, whose height was just over half of its own, was actually a powerful biochemical monster inside and absolutely must not be provoked.

Driven by biological instinct and interference from the chip, Nemesis let out a garbled shout of "S.T.A.R.S." before taking a step. Like a student dodging their homeroom teacher in the hallway after class, it obediently leaned against the wall, letting Lisa pass.

However, the little girl wearing the "Watchdog Security" uniform was inexplicably annoyed. Nemesis was obedient, but it was too ugly!

Besides, to eliminate targets that posed a threat to Curtis's family—wasn't this ugly freak a threat?

Facing this monster, Lisa chose to throw a punch.

Her fist, which normally carried a force of several tons, slammed straight into Nemesis's abdomen, piercing right through the front before being pulled out, splattering foul-smelling blood all over the ground.

"Ah!"

Nemesis let out a garbled roar.

Facing the powerful creature before it, it had already chosen to take a step back, so why was she still attacking it? With the intelligence of an NE-alpha Parasite, it couldn't yet grasp the importance of looks.

Lisa took a step back, pulled out her fist, and finally kicked Nemesis, sending it flying.

The 2.4-meter-tall giant slammed heavily into the wall and then slid down powerlessly.

Leon and Chris, standing to the side, watched in stunned silence:

"Are young people these days all like this? We old folks haven't even had a chance to shine yet."

"Maybe she's an alien adopted by a farmer in Kansas?"

Leon said, his face looking as if he were dreaming.

Seeing the "Watchdog Security" lettering on the girl's back, how could they not understand?

Curtis—the "Watchdog Security" the middle-aged man had mentioned earlier—was this little girl right in front of them.

No wonder the security company was established; with a superhuman as an employee, business would certainly be booming.

It seemed the matter had ended just like that; at the very least, the monster was currently motionless, its life or death uncertain.

And the girl simply walked calmly into the swarm of zombies, which subconsciously gave way to her.

The incoming swarm of zombies treated Lisa as if she were nothing, but they still gave them a headache.

In this situation, they could only fight while retreating.

And Lisa, without the slightest intention of speaking to them, walked straight into the equipment room.

Everyone looked at each other and could only choose to evacuate first.

"Let's go."

"OK, we're pulling out."

Chris looked at Edward's corpse, his eyes full of indignation.

Umbrella Corporation.

He would remember this grudge.

...

"Thank God, I've been hoping for you all to come just now."

Curtis said, though his eyes revealed deep suspicion.

"Asa only sent a little girl like you? Isn't this a bit…?"

The reality was too absurd.

Curtis had just heard the commotion outside and seen the tough character carrying a rocket launcher, knowing that wasn't someone they could provoke, so he hurriedly brought his family and hid them in the storage room.

The commotion outside was intense, and he hadn't expected that, in the end, an employee from Watchdog Security would be the one to find them. But why was it an underage little girl?

The shocking reality left Curtis frozen in place. He couldn't help but rub and pinch his own arm, trying to determine if he was dreaming today.

"Curtis Miller, Bella Miller, Mrs. Miller, and Angela Miller."

Lisa checked them off the list one by one, then took a box of medicine out of the small pouch behind her.

"This is Zombrex. Asa wants each of you to take one."

"Do I have to take it too?"

Curtis Miller hesitated a bit.

Lisa shook the blood off her hand as if nothing had happened.

Curtis twitched the corner of his mouth, ultimately choosing to consider safety:

"Maybe this virus really is airborne? Better to be safe than sorry."

...

However, less than a few minutes after Chris, Leon, and the others had left, a bestial roar suddenly came from behind: "S.T.A.R.S.!"

"That guy isn't dead yet?"

The dense swarm of zombies behind them hadn't held Nemesis back for even a second.

The abdomen that had been pierced by the girl's punch was now fully restored, and Nemesis, which had originally stood on two legs, was now crouching on the ground, having assumed a new form.

The monster's body was even larger than before, looking just like a small car, crawling on all fours, with a body length of nearly 4 meters.

The skin on its limbs had been torn open by bone spurs, growing a row of dagger-like spikes. Its back was highly arched, and several tentacles protruded from its spine. The original coat was now torn, becoming the Nemesis's tattered camouflage.

In front of its limbs was its original head, its eyes and ears still wrapped in flesh, with only its fangs, exposed after the restraints were torn, visible.

It had become stronger and faster.

All four limbs exerted force simultaneously, leaving four craters in the stadium floorboards, and with explosive speed like a bullet fired from a bowstring, it began running through the narrow corridor.

"Run!" Chris's pupils contracted as he was the first to retreat.

The speed of the rampaging second form of Nemesis was far beyond what the team members running on two legs could compare to.

Especially since the tentacles on its back, just like in its first form, shot out like bullets, causing the S.T.A.R.S. Team no end of trouble. They had to dodge the tentacles' attacks while running for their lives, a feat of difficulty comparable to an obstacle course challenge.

Richard, who was trailing at the back—the man who, in the original plot, was swallowed by a giant snake after being infected by the snake virus—seeing that he couldn't escape, actually turned around and shouted: "Run, run as fast as you can!"

"Richard!"

Chris cried out in grief and indignation; he had never felt so small as he did at this moment.
