Chapter 67 - Chapter 67: The Giant Alligator in the Sewer

It was a one-sided slaughter.

Whether it was the power of the punches, the material of the bone blades and bone hammers Lisa condensed, her reaction speed, or her regenerative abilities, Nemesis was completely inferior.

Although Nemesis's attacks could still deal effective damage to Lisa, tearing away a fair amount of flesh, their regenerative abilities were not in the same league; her torn wounds healed within a second, and in the next second, a piece of bone armor would form.

-1 HP, +100 HP.

Moreover, the Progenitor Virus variant fused within Lisa possessed a powerful devouring ability; the unstable T-Virus flooding into Lisa's body was instead devoured by the Progenitor Virus, providing her with new power.

On one side was Nemesis's hound-like biting; on the other were the cleaving and smashing strikes of a weapon of war.

Nemesis's ferocity was provoked, but it was no match. The Parasite RAR behind it sensed the approach of death, and more limbs broke through the skin from its spine and bones, proliferating wildly in the air.

If things continued like this, Nemesis would eventually enter its ongoing third form, which is the parasite-dominated form in the game.

But Lisa would not give it that chance, because before entering the third form, Nemesis needs to enter a form called a chrysalis, completely abandoning defense to let the parasite take over the body.

In this form, Nemesis is unable to perform any counterattacks.

Swoosh!

The bone blade whipped through the air like a gale. The incomplete Nemesis was sliced into eight pieces by Lisa like a chef dicing vegetables, 0.6 times more pieces than Shang Yang suffered in ancient times.

Among these, especially for the NE-alpha Parasite which served as the parasite's core, Lisa directly employed a double strike of bone blade and heavy hammer. Under the effects of cutting, smashing, and crushing, the parasite's core was brutally hammered into pulp.

Lisa Trevor, possessing special biological senses, could easily distinguish where the neural center controlling Nemesis's body was located.

After the battle, Lisa's body had returned to its original state, while Nemesis could no longer rise.

It was dead, and it did not die peacefully.

This wasn't enough to be safe. Lisa thought of Asa instructions, found a can of gasoline in the stadium, and poured it over Nemesis's mangled remains. The flames ignited, and a scorching wave of air rushed towards her.

This was the ultimate insurance.

The battle over, the three-meter-tall BOW transformed back into a fourteen-year-old girl. With a harmless appearance, her specially made security uniform was perfectly clean.

If she looked like this, Asa would praise her, right?

She couldn't help but put her hands on her hips, feeling a bit proud. Asa would surely pat her head and say:

"You did a great job."

However, Asa attitude toward her and that East Asian woman was a bit different.

Thanks to Ada Wong, Lisa now knew what love was.

But her current body didn't seem very suitable.

She had to find a chance to look like that woman!

Lisa stood thinking for a moment, looked in the direction where Curtis and the others had been taken, and chose to go straight home.

This was also a slacking-off trick Asa had taught her: what should you do when the leader assigns a new task before the previous one is finished?

As long as the leader doesn't ask, just pretend you don't know.

Lisa didn't know anything.

...

There were no bystanders to this battle between Lisa and Nemesis.

After all, the forty thousand zombies in the entire stadium were no joke.

The Licker in particular stayed far away. Consequently, the S.T.A.R.S. Team suffered attacks from these monsters—Licker with their brains exposed and Frenzied Zombies whose bodies melted like candles—leaving them in a miserable state.

The two teams successfully met up. They had found almost all the survivors they could along the way, endured a difficult return journey, and finally joined up with Chris.

"Where are Richard and Edward?"

Jill's face tightened when she saw two figures missing from the group, a bad premonition rising in her heart.

"Sorry, Jill... I..."

Chris opened his mouth and finally explained the situation regarding Nemesis and Lisa:

"It was Umbrella's biological weapon. It was coming for us."

Jill sighed. "Damn it!"

She punched the nearby wall, sending stone chips flying. The force left a deep fist print in the wall.

Leon's eyes twitched, but his expression remained calm.

No matter what happened tonight, he wouldn't be surprised anymore.

Jill was in a terrible mood.

Could this be considered a successful mission?

No, far from it. Looking around the entire stadium—a forty-thousand-person stadium—the only living people left were the few dozen in front of her.

Only these few dozen out of forty thousand residents survived. This was a massive casualty event for civilians since the founding of the Hilltop City; the death toll in a single night was horrific.

Others might use the excuse of an illness, but dead was dead.

If it hadn't been for the help of Lisa, sent by Asa, even the entire S.T.A.R.S. Team would have been wiped out.

Umbrella's actions, the government's distrust, and the officials' inaction had ultimately brewed this tragedy. In this, whether it was Chris, Jill, or these spectators, everyone was a victim.

Jill didn't blame Chris. She hadn't expected Umbrella Corporation to be so insane as to disguise a helicopter as an RPD one and drop a biological weapon to hunt them down.

From the moment they stepped into the stadium, or rather, from the moment the stadium held the event, they had already walked into a trap designed for them.

If not for the unexpected intervention, they truly wouldn't have escaped tonight, and their teammates had already died in this battle.

"Let's head back first. We can't stay here any longer,"

Jill said.

"I'll take the lead. Chris, you find some people to bring up the rear. We'll head back to the laundry room and return through the sewers."

After successfully meeting up, they chose to evacuate through the sewers.

The commotion outside the stadium had ceased, leaving only the figures of zombies closing in.

"Officer, aren't we going to wait for the Watchdog Security people?"

Curtis found an opportunity to interject.

"No, we need to leave as soon as possible. This is no place to linger. As for Watchdog Security... don't worry about them."

Curtis wanted to say, "I'm not worried about them." If they didn't have an escort, could they save half the hiring fee?

Five million dollars—even with the ninety percent discount Asa gave him, it was still five hundred thousand dollars. He couldn't afford it at all.

Curtis really wanted to ask Asa if he liked men. If he didn't mind, for the sake of his family, Curtis was willing to make a small sacrifice.

S.T.A.R.S. began to evacuate.

"So what the hell is this thing again?! Holy shit!"

Leon felt he was dead wrong. Not surprised?

That's because you haven't encountered a three-meter-high, eight-meter-long prehistoric alligator blocking the sewer!

On the way back, Jill led the way while Chris and Leon brought up the rear.

But just as the entire group had passed a sewer intersection and the front of the team had just disappeared from sight, a massive dark shadow suddenly rushed out from the side—a Giant Alligator!

"Run! Sprint!"

Chris's expression changed drastically. Leon also took off running, not forgetting to say:

"Great, we've crossed over from Dawn of the Dead into Jurassic Park!"

"Can you save the jokes for the day I die of old age?"

Chris, beside him, was reaching his limit. This peer of his had outstanding courage and combat ability, which he admired, but he had a bit of a jinx about him.

Chris felt he would eventually be jinxed to death by his teammates.

In the sewer, the two officers pumped their legs and ran for their lives.
