"You must be joking."
The old hunter's gaze was like he was looking at a madman.
"Sigh."
Asa shook his head and sighed.
"I wanted to get along with you as an ordinary person, but all I got in return was suspicion..."
Asa smiled and touched the black knitted hat on his head, and a pale Wendigo materialized in front of the old hunter, Jackie.
"Oh shit! What is that?"
Startled, Jackie took two steps back before he realized it was a Wendigo.
He subconsciously prepared to turn on his flamethrower, but seeing the Wendigo lying blankly on the ground, he looked at Asa in disbelief.
"This is a reformed Wendigo. It has converted to Hong Messiah and is now my spirit pet."
Asa smiled, and in Jackie's eyes, that smile suddenly became mysterious and unpredictable.
"You... how should I address you?"
Seeing that this person from the Eastern Church really had some skills, Jackie suddenly became formal, and he naturally became conflicted about how to address Asa.
Should he call him Father? But he was too young.
Call him boy? But the man really had abilities.
"Just call me Wizard."
Asa didn't care what Jackie called him. If Jill or Ada called him 'Father', then he might get excited.
"Wizard, uh, Mr. Wizard, is there anything you need me to do for you?"
Seeing that the monsters of Blackwood Mountain were about to be ended, old Jackie was also a bit excited; he wanted to contribute his own strength.
"No matter. You need to go home and get some sleep. Tomorrow you will see everything that has happened on Blackwood Mountain."
"I can help too. Don't look at these old bones of mine, I still have some strength left..."
Jackie clenched his fists, trying to show off his biceps, but his expression suddenly changed.
He had thrown out his back...
Asa was a bit helpless. If it weren't for the fact that this man was a good person in the original game, he really wouldn't bother talking to him.
With this time, it would be better to spend it with Lisa.
"Mr. Wizard, you don't have any weapons on you. Relying on just one Wendigo might be difficult? Why not use my flamethrower?"
Failing to volunteer himself, Jackie tried to recommend the fire extinguisher on his back.
"Of course I have..."
Asa produced a shotgun out of thin air, taking it from his spatial backpack.
"Winchester 1887 Shotgun, the Holy Fire of Exorcism!"
Jackie leaned in for a closer look. No matter how he looked at it, it was just an ordinary shotgun.
"You are mistaken. On the surface, it's an ordinary shotgun, but in reality, it's loaded with divine bullets meant to combat demons and monsters."
Asa said, seeing through Jackie's thoughts.
"Back then, with this Holy Fire of Exorcism, I alone held off the sugar-coated bullets of evil monsters like the Bloodthirsty Banshee and Shadow Barbie, using this great gun to blast and subdue them."
"That battle was extremely treacherous. One slip-up and my teammates would have been wiped out, falling into a situation beyond redemption."
Asa recalled, looking at the snowy scenery outside the window. Remembering the tumultuous years of the past, his face was filled with emotion.
Bloodthirsty Banshee and Shadow Barbie sounded like powerful monsters. To be able to deal with such creatures, this Wizard's abilities must be extraordinary.
He must be an exorcist master with magical powers from the East Asian Church. Otherwise, how could one explain him staying alone in the mountains, knowing the legends of the Wendigo, possessing the ability to summon one, yet having such a youthful face?
"I have come specifically to resolve this tragedy. This is not something you can handle. Ordinary person, go back down the mountain."
Asa turned his head and waved his hand, signaling for the other to leave first.
"Master! Is it too late for me to convert to Hong Messiah now?"
"It's not too late. As long as you are sincere, it's never too late."
"Alright. Take care, Master."
The hunter took it as truth. Whether it was the power Asa displayed, the ability to summon a Wendigo, or his confident knowledge, the old hunter was completely convinced.
Jackie really left, without a trace of lingering.
Not only did he leave, but he also intended to search for the teachings of Heavenly King Hong and believe in this Son of Heaven from the East.
"Sigh, I've saved another person."
Asa was quite impressed by his own noble character.
If only this gave some side-story rewards. Saving an NPC should at least grant C-rank plot clearance and 2000 plot points.
Having persuaded the passerby who might steal his experience points to leave, the only human character with combat power had exited the stage. With the other protagonists staying in the villa, no one would disturb his mob grinding.
Truly worth celebrating.
In the game, a large number of Wendigos were sealed in the basement of the Sanatorium. They were miners who had turned into Wendigos after killing each other when the mine collapsed, and were later imprisoned in the Sanatorium's basement by interested parties.
Josh's sister, Hannah, was not here; she was in the mines at the back of the mountain. She had lived there for a year in the place where she had fallen off the cliff, until Josh invited his friends back to the villa. When Emily fell into the mine, it disturbed the Wendigo that Hannah had become.
Asa planned to slaughter all the Wendigos in the Sanatorium first. Not for anything else, but just to see what materials they dropped and how he could enhance the knitted hat on his head.
The Sanatorium was a facility built in the 1950s and had been abandoned for nearly 50 years.
Stepping inside, it was dark and gloomy with no end in sight. The floor was covered in broken glass and trash, with almost nowhere to step.
This was the first floor of the Sanatorium. To find the Wendigos, one had to go to the prison in the basement. Back then, the people of the Sanatorium had imprisoned many Wendigos in the cells to study their changes and abilities.
Stepping on the broken glass made a crunching sound.
A pale figure flew into the Sanatorium's stairwell; it was Wendigo No. 1, the scout minion sent out by Asa.
Although this thin Wendigo no longer had its sanity, it could still understand Asa orders.
Unfortunately, he couldn't see the situation in the basement through the Wendigo's perspective.
Relying solely on a shotgun would definitely not be enough to kill them. Asa found the gasoline cans that had set the entire Sanatorium on fire in the original game. They were still stored in the engine room, and the oil drums were sealed and intact. The characters in the game had also relied on these oil drums to kill most of the Wendigos.
Next, as long as he lured out all the Wendigos and annihilated them together, the great task would be accomplished.
