Chapter 131 - Chapter 131: Novigrad

After dancing a few rounds of a three-person tango, in the end, Sheala still hadn't managed to help Asa push his hips.

The three of them slumped onto the sofa, their limbs tangled together.

Asa sat in the center with a broad, confident posture, his arms wrapped around a beauty on either side.

Sheala looked curiously at the mark on her wrist.

"Lang, is this also a spell you invented?"

Margarita was completely spent, and on the plump, elastic mound below her lower back, there was an identical mark of moderate size.

"It is,"

Asa nodded.

"You really are a genius!" Sheala excitedly prepared to offer a sweet kiss, but Asa turned his head and dodged it.

There was no helping it; even a tiger wouldn't devour its own offspring.

Sheala's expression darkened, realizing why Asa had dodged; she grumbled to herself that he didn't have this attitude when he wanted her to 'eat'.

"Do Yennefer and Sabrina have one too?"

"They've had them for ten years."

So that was it; Sheala realized.

No wonder Sabrina and Yennefer had made such rapid progress on the path of magic over the years; it turned out they were sharing Asa talent.

As for Yennefer, the woman who first discovered Asa special talent, Sheala wasn't jealous; she just hadn't expected that Sabrina, that hot-tempered Sorceress who acted like a little girl, would actually get ahead of both of them.

Fortunately, after ten years of getting along, everything had come naturally, and this time was the result of them taking the initiative.

The Sorceresses didn't have any formal status with Asa; in the end, they were just lovers. But with the existence of this mark, even as lovers, the two Sorceresses felt very secure.

Resting their heads on Asa shoulders, the three of them chatted while they caught their breath.

In reality, Asa didn't need to rest at all; he hadn't exerted much effort before the two Sorceresses had collapsed.

The constitution of Wizards was no different from ordinary people, and they weren't BOWs, so Asa handled them easily.

Even if all four of them came at him together, the result would be the same.

When the conversation turned to the countries Asa was heading to, Margarita sat up and said:

"I've heard that Cintra is very hostile toward Wizards; be very careful when you get there."

"Also, do not intervene in the war between them and Nazair; one of the tenets of the Brotherhood of Sorcerers is not to interfere in the conflicts of mortal nations, and there are Brotherhood of Sorcerers Wizards in Nazair as well."

Asa nodded, indicating he understood.

This trip was originally intended to experience the local customs of the Northern Continent; if he got tired of it, he could just head to other countries.

If there was a chance, he could also go to Nilfgaard to take a look; he had heard that there was a Lady of the Lake in the Duchy of Toussaint.

He didn't know how she differed from a true deity, but in the game, she was a romanceable character.

Do gods also get wet?

Time flew by during their idle chatter.

The next day, Asa prepared to depart.

There were two routes from Thanedd Island to the capital of Cintra:

One was the sea route, sailing west from the island, passing by the Skellige Isles and the Kingdom of Verden, eventually arriving at Cintra's western port;

One was the land route; Asa could reach the Free City of Novigrad, head south, pass through Redania, Temeria, and Brugge, all the way to Cintra.

Since this trip was meant to experience the customs of the Northern Kingdoms, Asa would naturally take the land route.

A large ship from Aretuza Academy had brought a batch of new students, and today was the day the parents were being sent back to the city; Asa could hitch a ride on the Aretuza ship to Novigrad, the largest port and Free City in the North.

The ship sailed east, and one day later, it arrived at the Free City of Novigrad.

In the game "The Witcher 3," Novigrad was a map where the Poles had created a port city in a medieval Wizarding World that far exceeded the prosperity of cities from the same era in the real world.

However, when Asa truly arrived here, he discovered that the prosperity in the game didn't even reach half of that in the real Wizarding World.

The real world seemed to be Novigrad from the game expanded several times over.

On the deck, looking toward the city from the sea, countless buildings with white walls and red tiles occupied the entire coastline; merchant ships stuffed with cargo departed from here and returned laden with wealth.

This was the largest city in the North and the pride of the Northerners; the krown, the currency recognized by the entire world, was also minted in Novigrad.

The ship approached the harbor, sailing from an inlet into an inner harbor partially surrounded by the city.

Asa disembarked, and a fishy scent of the sea hit him.

On the pier, many armored soldiers wearing red flame insignias were standing guard and patrolling; they were the Temple Guards of the Eternal Fire cult, and anyone who dared to cause trouble would receive a severe crackdown from these Temple Guards.

Before coming, Asa had learned that the Church of the Eternal Fire controlled almost the entire city; it was strictly forbidden to wear symbols of any other deity or engage in other religious activities here.

All residents had to believe in the one and only Eternal Fire, otherwise, illegal proselytizing would earn them a public burning.

The Free City was, in reality, not free at all.

Although this city was a Free City among the Northern Kingdoms, because of the Temple Guards of the Eternal Fire, it was exceptionally hostile toward Sorceresses and non-human races, viewing them as sources of instability.

Apart from the Eternal Fire, there were also various underworld forces that controlled the lifeblood of this city.

After all, there were thirty-five taverns and fifteen brothels here; whether they were elves, gnomes, or dwarf prostitutes, one could find them all here, satisfying every human fetish.

As soon as he got off the ship, Asa attracted the attention of the Temple Guards, simply because his attire and appearance were too unique.

His cloak, amulet, dragon medallion, and the robes of the Brotherhood of Sorcerers practically wrote "I am a Wizard" on his face.

AI is really useful, isn't it?

"Hey, Wizard, you'd better not cause any trouble here."

A Temple Guard holding a giant axe walked straight up to Asa and issued him a warning,

"I'll be watching you."

With that, he returned to his post.

The Temple Guard in the distance even flashed the enchanted gold shackles in his hand.

Asa felt helpless; why was it that even here, his popularity was about the same as a Witcher's?

Such honest and simple folk customs, indeed.

Where should he go for a stroll first after arriving here?

Asa rested his chin in his hand; the locations he frequented in the game were undoubtedly the brothels, but in the real world, he didn't want to go there—it was too dirty.

The taverns were full of drunks and alcoholics; after thinking about it, only an inn would do.

He would find a place to rest, then buy a horse, or perhaps find a caravan and travel with them to Cintra.

The medieval fantasy adventure had just begun, yet Asa quickly suffered the first setback of his life.

It stinks!

Walking into the city along the dirt road from the pier, the fishy scent of the sea couldn't mask the stench of the feces all over the ground once he entered the city.

Logically speaking, he hadn't seen feces all over the ground in the game; since it was near the sea, couldn't they tidy up the city's sewage system?

Suddenly, he felt a bit nostalgic for the fresh air on Thanedd Island.
