The heavy door slammed shut with a violent shudder as Victoria marched into the condo.
Alex was already waiting for her. He stood still in the dimly lit master living space, his arms crossed, his expression unreadable as he stepped directly into her path. In his hand, the bug device hummed with a flat, dead frequency.
"You turned off the feed," Alex said in a low deadly voice that vibrated through the quiet room. "You were supposed to leave that wire active so I could keep track of your dealings with Cosgrove."
Victoria spun around on her heels, her eyes flashing with a defensive fury as she ripped her designer handbag off her shoulder and threw it onto the sofa. "Everyone is bugging me, Alex! I suspect Cosgrove has a bug on me. I have absolutely no privacy left, and I refuse to live like a terrified prisoner. If you want to know what Cosgrove is planning, you can either trust the reports I give you, or you can go meet him yourself."
