Aeris went from walking, to jogging, to running, and then finally launched herself straight at Vegeta.
"Since the little mouse wants to challenge me, then of course I'll indulge you. Hahahahahahaha!"
She was absurdly fast. In the blink of an eye, she was already right in front of him.
"Hi there, little mouse~"
And with that, she drove a fist straight into Vegeta's stomach.
"Gah—!"
Vegeta spat out a mouthful of saliva and was sent flying straight back the way he came.
Boom!!!
"Oh dear~ looks like I hit a little too hard. Still… your scream was really pleasant to hear."
Aeris looked teasingly toward the cloud of dust where Vegeta had crashed.
Then she used Instant Transmission and appeared right where he had fallen. She condensed an energy blast in her hand and slammed it down again.
Vegeta had only just pushed himself up when he saw the blast rushing closer and closer. He hurriedly fired several energy shots back at it, barely managing to cancel it out.
Leaning against a nearby rock, Vegeta panted hard and looked up at Aeris.
Then he smiled smugly.
"Go on, use whatever other tricks you've got. If you don't use them now, you probably won't get another chance."
From that brief exchange, Vegeta came to a conclusion.
A completely stupid one.
He felt that she was probably a little weaker than he was.
In his mind, the only reason she had landed that hit was because she caught him off guard.
Otherwise…
Vegeta's confidence swelled instantly. He clenched a fist and jabbed a thumb at himself.
"You should be honored. Your opponent right now is Prince Vegeta of Planet Vegeta, the genius elite warrior of the Saiyan race."
The moment he finished speaking, he powered up and charged at Aeris again.
Aeris, however, caught the important part.
Planet Vegeta.
Saiyan.
That made her pause for just a second—
And that second was enough for Vegeta to land a punch and smash her down into the ground.
Even after hitting the dirt, Aeris still looked a little dazed.
She really had not expected that while wandering around aimlessly, she would run into Saiyan survivors other than herself and Goku.
Now that was interesting.
At that point, Aeris had no intention of ending the fight so quickly anymore. She wanted to see whether this Saiyan called Vegeta was more interesting than Goku.
Because most of the time, Goku was just a complete meathead.
With that thought in mind, Aeris slowly rose to her feet.
That one movement made Vegeta assume she was injured.
Which only made him even more confident.
Aeris looked up at Vegeta, who was floating in the air with his arms crossed, and a nasty little idea immediately came to mind.
"Interesting… your name's Vegeta… right?"
She looked up at him as she asked.
Vegeta said nothing. He simply floated there in silence, that smug, disdainful smile still on his face, like he was thinking he'd been right all along—that she was just a paper tiger, and that frightening aura earlier only came from killing lots of weaklings.
"Well, whatever. Doesn't matter if you answer. You won't really have time to talk soon anyway."
Aeris flicked her hand lightly.
A whip made of ki appeared in her grasp.
Then she lashed it straight at Vegeta.
He dodged the first one in a hurry.
But there was a second one.
That second whip cracked straight across his body.
The moment she threw the first whip, Aeris had already created another one in her other hand and whipped it exactly toward the direction he would dodge.
Vegeta cried out in pain.
He glared at the woman in front of him, grinding his teeth furiously.
That whip had come dangerously close to wiping out the Vegeta bloodline for good.
"Sorry It's my first time using a whip, after all"
She said all that in a sweet apologetic tone.
Unfortunately, her hands clearly had not gotten the same message, because she kept lashing him without pause.
Vegeta could only dodge miserably, and while he was weaving around the attacks, he caught sight of that playful, vicious smile on Aeris's face.
It made his teeth itch with rage.
In the end, one of the whips wrapped around his leg.
The moment that happened, Aeris slammed him into the ground.
And not just once.
Back and forth.
Again and again.
Like she was the Hulk and he was some poor god having a really bad day.
At last, Vegeta lay sprawled on the ground and shakily lifted his head to glare at her.
Aeris wasn't surprised at all that he could still move.
Saiyans had absurd vitality.
Like cockroaches that just refused to die.
Then she slowly walked over to him and casually stepped down.
"Gah—!"
That stomp drove Vegeta straight into the dirt.
And speaking of which, Dragon Ball fights really were weird. Nobody ever seemed to know how to do team battles properly. It was always one person fighting while everyone else stood around watching, and only once that guy was half-dead did someone else finally step in.
Anyway—
Right as Aeris was about to continue, a beam of light shot past her.
She turned her head and saw that it had come from the big bald one—Nappa—who had tried to sneak attack her.
Shame his aim was garbage.
How do you miss from there?
Raditz attacked from the other side too, firing at Aeris.
Aeris clicked her tongue.
"Tch… attacks at this level are really… weak. You're not even qualified to dance in front of me."
With that, she sent out more than a dozen crescent-shaped attacks straight at Nappa and Raditz.
Both of them jumped back to dodge.
But Nappa was a fraction too slow and got hit directly, which pretty much ended his combat power on the spot.
Raditz looked at Aeris in horror and instinctively started backing away.
Didn't help.
She was on him in an instant.
The next thing he knew, his whole body had been smashed into the ground.
Aeris walked over, grabbed him by the hair, and yanked him back up. She looked at his pale face, which had gone even whiter from fear.
"Ah~ little mouse, what should I do with you…"
"W-Who the hell are you…?"
"Me?" Aeris tilted her head. "Hmm… why don't you guess? If you're right… you get a reward. And if you're wrong…"
She looked at Raditz with a thoroughly malicious smile.
Raditz was terrified.
The sense of death closing in on him was becoming stronger and stronger.
But seeing him lose all will to fight that quickly made things boring, so she dragged him back over to Vegeta and grabbed Vegeta by the hair too, lifting him up the same way.
She looked at the fury and unwillingness in Vegeta's eyes, along with whatever other mess of emotions was mixed in there.
"Oh my… our little mouse seems really unwilling to accept this. Ohoho… that look like you want to kill me… I absolutely love it, hahahaha—"
And with that, she slammed Vegeta's head back into the ground.
Then she picked Raditz up again.
And somehow, at that very moment, Raditz found a scrap of courage from god-knows-where and fired an energy blast at point-blank range.
Boom…
"Tch. Too much smoke."
Aeris complained lightly.
Of course, Raditz didn't hear any of it, because that explosion had already knocked him out cold.
Aeris casually tossed him aside.
And our dear Super Tragedy-ta was, once again, picked back up.
"Didn't expect your subordinates to be this loyal. Too bad their combat power sucks, Mr. Vegeta."
Aeris smiled sweetly at him.
And the moment Vegeta saw that smile, he immediately knew she was about to do something awful.
Sure enough, the very next second she kicked him away.
Hard.
He flew off and erased an entire small hill with his body.
What Aeris did not expect was that even after all that, Vegeta still managed to stand back up.
That part genuinely surprised her.
Vegeta rose shakily to his feet.
"D-Don't… don't look down on me, you bastard! I'm… I'm Vegeta! The genius warrior of the Saiyan race! There's no way… no way I'm losing to the likes of you, damn it!"
The moment he finished shouting, Vegeta charged at her again.
Aeris dodged his attack—
And then noticed something interesting.
At a moment like this…
He had actually gotten stronger.
Twice as strong as just a moment ago.
When Vegeta saw his blow miss, he immediately condensed a huge energy sphere and hurled it at Aeris.
