Chapter 8 - Man, what a place!!!

Yasoke was hanging by his foot from a tree branch and, apparently, was not enjoying the situation. Yuji analyzed Yasoke's expression, even though he was the one who had tied him there. Realizing the scenario they were in, an idea popped into Yuji's mind as he recalled a fact of utmost importance.

"So, let's see how your friend is doing," Yuji said as he cut the rope holding Yasoke to the branch.

The youth fell to the ground clumsily, but stood up and agreed to the proposal. Both headed toward the hospital. The possibility arose that Yuji might train Yasoke and Jhony for the tournament; however, Yasoke still questioned the truth behind that man's abilities. Although Yuji had demonstrated great strength, it was difficult to extract anything educational from his actions, which seemed more like play between an adult and a child.

Upon arriving at the hospital, to avoid an encounter with the receptionist, Yuji took Yasoke in his arms and moved with extreme speed to the first floor. The execution was so fast that the displacement of air easily lifted chairs with patients and scattered papers. Quickly, Yuji put the chairs and patients back in their proper places, but out of laziness, he allowed the papers to remain scattered on the floor.

After this demonstration, he and Yasoke walked normally to the second floor. However, upon reaching Room 116, Yasoke's eyes widened at the scene: the wall where the window used to be was totally destroyed, with drops of blood on the floor. The nurse, still shaken, handed them a paper with a note:

"So Yasoke, I got tired of waiting for you to come back, so I broke the wall. Actually, it would be much smarter to jump out the window, but at the moment I'm writing this letter, I haven't done anything yet. In reality, it's just cooler to break the wall anyway."

Upon reading what Jhony had written and observing the state of the wall, Yasoke began to laugh. The nurse, confused, started reporting the details. According to her, when Jhony stood up, he limped toward the wall. She tried to stop him, ordering him to return to the stretcher since he hadn't recovered yet. Jhony ignored her; he positioned his hands against the window, extended his right palm for support, and struck the glass with his left fist, shattering it. His fist was bleeding from the shards embedded in his skin. In desperation, the nurse huddled in a corner to protect herself.

With his fists bleeding, he proceeded to punch the wall until he opened a crater, staining the floor with reddish pigments. The process was strangely fast. After opening the gap, he jumped from the second floor, hitting the ground with his wounded hands, and ran off in no particular direction.

Hearing the account, Yasoke was frustrated that they couldn't train together, but he smiled realizing that he would likely have an advantage over his friend in the tournament.

"Well, Mr. Yuji, since you were responsible for him, sort of... the hospital was damaged and since he is a minor, sort of... you're going to have to pay for this," the nurse stated with an ironic smile.

Yuji stared at her with wide eyes.

"Run Yasoke, they want to hunt me down!!" he exclaimed, grabbing the youth in his arms and jumping out the window.

In the distance, on the horizon, Yasoke's scream could be heard: "I have nothing to do with this crazy man!"

Unfazed by such shamelessness, the nurse simply called the builders.

Yuji led Yasoke to a noble neighborhood so he could observe the residences, promising to show him his own home. Before several mansions, Yasoke was impressed, imagining what he would see next. However, after passing the luxury properties, Yuji headed into the city and toward a thicket. Yasoke found the path strange, as it became increasingly dark and inhospitable. The forest was untouched, and the only possible sight, besides the dense green, were various species of animals and insects. Yasoke began to fear that, instead of luxury training, he would be molested in that wilderness.

"So Yasoke, we've arrived at my house!" Yuji announced.

After the massive thicket, they came across a magnificent mansion, with a gold-plated fountain, an impeccable lawn, perfect marble sculptures, and bushes pruned into animal shapes. Yasoke smiled, envisioning training in an exquisite environment.

"Where are you looking? That's my daddy's house! My house is over there!" Yuji corrected, pointing to a tiny shack where two people could barely fit.

The place had three destroyed straw dummies, a half-broken door, uneven ground, and "sculptures" made of poorly pruned, asymmetrical branches. Disillusioned, Yasoke just accepted reality, while the fear for his physical integrity only increased.

"The tournament starts in 5 days. It's almost impossible to learn Macogo in such a short time, but let's try anyway," said Yuji as he let go of Yasoke, who fell clumsily.

The youth stood up inspired, determined not to let the environment shake him.

"I'll show you where you're going to sleep," Yuji continued.

He tried to open the door repeatedly, without success. He sighed and said: "When you can't open the door, we enter through the top."

Yasoke couldn't believe what he was hearing. Yuji indicated a ladder and jumped directly onto the roof. Yasoke climbed up, and upon reaching the top, Yuji pointed to the chimney. Before the youth went in, Yuji warned: "Be careful when you go down; the firewood might be burning."

"But if it were on fire, there would be smoke," Yasoke questioned.

"Not in this case. The wood I use doesn't produce smoke, hehe," Yuji explained.

Terrified, Yasoke went down the chimney. They reached the living room, furnished only with an armchair and a television. The old wooden floor creaked with every step, threatening to break, although Yuji walked without making a sound. The living room was joined to the bedroom, where there was only a pillow and a blanket.

"Wondering where the mattress is? Actually, the floor is so soft you don't need one, but since I'm nice, you'll sleep on the floor and I'll take the armchair!"

With no arguments left, Yasoke accepted. Finally, Yuji pointed out the location of the bathroom, gesturing through the window to a small outhouse with a broken door, in front of which was a table with magazines, cookies, and coffee.
