Chapter 1 - NTOEL-Northern territory of Eight lineage

Beyond the borders of human civilization stretched a vast and dangerous wilderness known simply as the NTOEL. The name itself carried an uneasy weight among the people who lived within the protected cities of the world. It was not just a forest or an unclaimed land. It was a hostile expanse where monsters ruled, where nature had twisted into something far more violent than ordinary wilderness, and where the thin line separating humanity from extinction was constantly tested.

From high above, the NTOEL appeared like a dark sea of green and shadow stretching endlessly across the land. Dense forests covered most of its territory, broken only by jagged cliffs, winding rivers, and deep valleys where mist gathered like silent ghosts drifting through the trees.

The forest itself was enormous, its trees towering far higher than those found in normal environments. Some of them reached heights of nearly two hundred feet, their massive trunks thick enough that ten grown men standing side by side would struggle to wrap their arms around them. Their branches spread outward like the ribs of giant umbrellas, weaving together overhead until they formed a heavy canopy that allowed only narrow shafts of sunlight to pierce through.

When the light did manage to break through, it illuminated a forest floor that looked both beautiful and unsettling. Thick carpets of moss covered the ground in many places, glowing faintly green beneath the filtered sunlight. Vines hung from branches like tangled ropes, swaying gently whenever the wind managed to push its way through the dense layers of leaves.

Yet beneath that strange beauty was something far more dangerous.

The NTOEL was not silent.

The forest constantly echoed with distant growls, snapping branches, and the low rumbling calls of creatures that were far larger than anything that should naturally exist. Sometimes the sounds were faint, like distant thunder rolling through the wilderness. Other times they were sharp and sudden, sending flocks of birds exploding into the sky in panic.

Massive claw marks could be seen carved into tree trunks twenty feet above the ground. Deep footprints filled with muddy water dotted the softer areas of the forest floor. In certain clearings, enormous bones lay scattered about, some half buried in the dirt, others picked clean and bleached pale by years of exposure.

The creatures responsible for those remains still roamed the land.

Within the shadows of the NTOEL lived monsters—beasts that seemed as though they had crawled out of nightmares rather than evolved through nature.

Some resembled wolves, but they were far larger than any wolf that had ever walked the earth. Their bodies were covered in coarse dark fur, their limbs long and powerful, and their glowing eyes pierced through the darkness with unsettling intelligence.

Others were reptilian creatures with thick armored scales and jagged spines running down their backs. Their jaws were wide enough to crush bone in a single bite, and their tails could shatter trees when they lashed them across the ground.

There were creatures with wings as wide as small aircraft, gliding silently between the highest branches of the forest before diving down toward prey with terrifying speed.

Some monsters moved alone.

Others hunted in packs.

And sometimes, when the wilderness stirred with unusual unrest, entire swarms of them surged toward the outer borders of human territory.

Today was one of those days.

Near the outer edge of the NTOEL, where the thick forest finally gave way to a wide stretch of rugged land, a massive defensive wall stood between the monsters and the cities beyond.

The wall was not an ancient structure built from rough stone like those found in old history books. It was a modern marvel of engineering—constructed from reinforced alloys, layered composite materials, and advanced structural frameworks designed to withstand incredible amounts of force.

The wall stretched across the horizon like an artificial mountain range.

Massive towers rose from its length every few hundred meters, each one equipped with powerful surveillance systems, defensive weapon platforms, and automated monitoring equipment. Long arrays of floodlights were mounted along the upper edges, ready to illuminate the surrounding wilderness during nightfall.

Heavy armored gates reinforced with thick energy barriers were positioned at several key points along the structure. They remained closed most of the time, opening only for carefully monitored expeditions beyond the city.

Beyond those walls, the wilderness of the NTOEL pressed endlessly against civilization like a restless predator waiting for weakness.

And today, that pressure had turned into violence.

Dozens of monsters surged out from the edge of the forest, charging across the rough terrain toward the towering wall.

Their roars shook the air.

Massive wolf-like beasts sprinted across the ground with incredible speed, their claws tearing into the earth as they ran. Behind them came larger creatures with armored bodies that smashed through fallen trees as though they were nothing more than twigs.

Above the battlefield, several winged predators circled through the sky, watching for opportunities to dive.

But humanity had been preparing for threats like this for generations.

Mounted along the defensive towers were large rotating cannons capable of firing concentrated bursts of energy. As the monsters approached the outer perimeter, alarms blared across the entire defensive line.

Moments later, the cannons roared to life.

Bright streaks of light shot across the battlefield, striking several charging creatures with explosive force. One of the massive wolf-like monsters was thrown backward as the blast slammed into its chest, sending it tumbling across the ground before it finally lay still.

Yet the monsters did not retreat.

They continued charging.

Closer to the base of the wall, groups of trained defenders stood ready behind reinforced barricades. Unlike the automated weapons above them, these fighters relied on a combination of advanced equipment and personal combat skill.

Some wore lightweight combat armor reinforced with protective plating along the chest and arms. Others carried specialized weapons designed specifically for battling large creatures—long reinforced blades, high-powered rifles, and heavy shock-spears capable of delivering powerful bursts of energy upon impact.

The moment the monsters reached the outer defensive zone, the fighters moved.

One defender stepped forward and fired his rifle in controlled bursts toward a charging reptilian beast. The bullets struck the creature's scales with sharp metallic cracks, forcing it to slow down long enough for another fighter to drive a glowing spear straight into the side of its neck.

The creature let out a violent roar before collapsing heavily onto the ground.

Nearby, another warrior swung a large reinforced blade downward onto the back of a lunging wolf-beast. The impact drove the creature into the dirt with a brutal thud.

Despite the overwhelming chaos, the defenders moved with coordination and discipline. Every fighter knew exactly where to stand, when to strike, and how to protect the person beside them.

The battle raged for nearly an hour.

Eventually, the monsters began to retreat.

One by one, the surviving creatures pulled back toward the safety of the forest, disappearing once more into the dark wilderness of the NTOEL.

Silence slowly returned to the battlefield.

But inside the walls, life continued as it always had.

The cities of humanity were nothing like the wild lands beyond their borders. Tall modern buildings rose toward the sky, their glass surfaces reflecting the sunlight in bright flashes of silver and blue. Elevated highways curved through the city like giant metal rivers, carrying vehicles swiftly between districts.

Digital billboards flickered with advertisements and news updates along busy streets.

People moved through the city in every direction.

Some walked along wide sidewalks while checking messages on their phones. Others sat at outdoor cafés enjoying meals while watching the traffic pass by. Delivery drones occasionally buzzed overhead, transporting packages between buildings.

Street vendors sold hot food from compact mobile kitchens, filling the air with the smell of grilled meat, noodles, and spices.

Children wearing school uniforms laughed as they walked home in groups.

Workers in office attire hurried between buildings, their conversations blending into the constant hum of the city.

For most of the citizens, the dangers of the NTOEL felt very far away.

The walls had protected humanity for decades.

To many people, the monsters were little more than distant threats shown occasionally on the news.

Yet within the city itself were places where the reality of that danger was never forgotten.

One such place was a large public training complex located near the outer districts. It covered several acres of land and was used to train young individuals who hoped to one day join the defenders protecting humanity from the creatures of the wilderness.

The training grounds were surrounded by tall metal fences and observation platforms where instructors sometimes watched over the students practicing below.

Sections of the field were equipped with obstacle courses, combat simulators, and reinforced training dummies designed to withstand powerful strikes.

On one side of the training area stood a row of equipment racks holding practice weapons—blunted blades, training spears, and reinforced staffs.

And standing near the edge of the field was a boy.

He looked to be around fifteen years old.

Even among the other trainees scattered around the training grounds, he stood out slightly.

The boy was tall for his age, his posture straight and steady. His physique showed clear signs of regular training—not overly muscular, but well-built with lean strength visible in the way he carried himself.

His shoulders were broad, and his arms possessed the kind of quiet power that came from repeated practice rather than natural bulk.

His hair was black—deep and dark like the feathers of a raven. It was slightly long, falling loosely around the sides of his face and brushing lightly against the back of his neck whenever the breeze moved through the open training field.

The sunlight caught faint highlights in the strands, giving the dark hair a subtle sheen.

His face still carried the youthful features of someone who had not yet fully grown into adulthood. Yet there was already a certain sharpness to his expression—a calm focus that made him appear more mature than many other teenagers his age.

His jawline was beginning to form a stronger shape, and his nose and cheekbones gave his face a balanced, natural structure.

But it was his eyes that stood out the most.

They held a steady brightness that suggested determination and curiosity at the same time.

When he looked toward the distant horizon—toward the direction where the massive defensive walls stood—those eyes seemed to reflect something deeper than simple interest.

There was bravery there.

And perhaps a quiet sense that his future would eventually lead him toward the dangers waiting beyond those walls.

The boy stood quietly at the edge of the training field, watching the sky as the afternoon light slowly began to fade.

Behind him, the modern city buzzed with life.

Far beyond the walls, the wilderness of the NTOEL waited.

And between those two worlds, the boy remained standing—silent, steady, and unaware that his story was only just beginning.
