Chapter 14 - CHAPTER 14:The Sea That Decides Everything

The port town stretched wide along the coastline.

Wooden docks creaked under constant movement—cargo being unloaded, sails being repaired, and sailors shouting over the sound of waves.

Kevin stood at the edge of the dock.

Silent.

Watching the sea.

This was different from everything before.

No dojo walls.

No village safety.

No training yard.

Only the ocean.

Endless.

Unforgiving.

"…So this is where everything starts."

His voice was low.

Not emotional.

Just certain.

Behind him, the caravan merchant finally relaxed.

"We made it… finally…"

Kevin didn't respond.

His eyes were fixed ahead.

On the ships.

On the horizon.

On freedom.

A Marine ship was anchored offshore.

Large.

Watching the port quietly.

Not interfering.

Just observing.

Kevin noticed immediately.

"…Still following."

Not directly.

Not aggressively.

But present.

Always present.

He walked along the dock alone.

Wood creaking under his steps.

Seagulls circling above.

Salt in the air.

People passed him without care.

Pirates.

Merchants.

Fishermen.

Marines.

The world kept moving.

But Kevin felt it now.

He was inside it.

Not outside looking in anymore.

A nearby fisherman spoke loudly.

"Did you hear? Some island north of here has been acting strange."

Another laughed.

"Strange how?"

The fisherman lowered his voice.

"…Sea Kings attacking near shore. And something else washing up on land."

Kevin slowed slightly.

Not stopping.

Just listening.

"…Sea Kings?"

That part was normal.

But "something else" wasn't.

The merchant from the caravan finally approached.

"You're heading somewhere, right?"

Kevin nodded.

"…Yes."

"Anywhere specific?"

Kevin looked toward the sea.

"…Anywhere that moves forward."

The merchant hesitated.

"…That's not a destination."

Kevin smirked faintly.

"…It is for me."

Later that day—

Kevin boarded a small transport ship heading between islands.

Nothing special.

Just a trade vessel.

Cheap passage.

But it moved.

And that was enough.

The sea journey was calm at first.

Waves steady.

Wind controlled.

Crew members talked casually.

Unaware of what sat among them.

Kevin stayed near the edge of the ship.

Watching water pass beneath.

"…Still not enough."

Strength.

Knowledge.

Resources.

Everything was still too small.

On the second day—

The weather shifted.

Clouds gathered quickly.

Wind became unstable.

The captain shouted orders.

"Storm coming in fast!"

"Secure the sails!"

Kevin stepped forward slightly.

"…Not a normal storm."

The sea churned violently.

And then—

Something rose.

Not from imagination.

Not from nowhere.

From beneath the water.

A massive shape broke the surface.

A Sea King.

Huge.

Scaled.

Natural terror of the ocean.

The ship shook violently.

Crew panicked instantly.

"SEA KING!!"

"WE'RE DEAD!"

Kevin narrowed his eyes.

"…So this is real strength of the sea."

The creature roared.

The sound alone shook the waves.

The ship tilted dangerously.

Kevin stepped forward.

Not afraid.

Just calculating.

"…Too big."

No sword technique here would matter directly.

Not raw.

Not simple.

But—

He could feel it.

Life.

Presence.

Instinct.

The Sea King was alive.

Fully.

Clearly.

Kevin focused.

Not to kill.

Not to dominate.

Just to interfere.

He stepped onto the railing.

Balanced.

"…Move."

The Sea King turned toward the ship.

Kevin reached out mentally.

That strange connection inside him.

Life thread.

Not taking.

Not killing.

Just pressing.

A subtle disruption.

The Sea King hesitated for a fraction of a second.

That was enough.

The captain shouted.

"NOW! TURN THE SHIP!"

The crew reacted.

The ship shifted course violently.

Waves crashed against it.

But it moved.

Away from the strike zone.

The Sea King roared again—

But missed.

And slowly—

It sank back into the depths.

Silence returned.

Only storm remnants remained.

Crew collapsed in relief.

"…We survived…"

"…What just happened…"

Kevin stood still.

Watching the water close.

"…So even that exists here."

Not myth.

Not legend.

Normal life of the sea.

A crew member looked at him nervously.

"…Kid… you didn't even panic…"

Kevin didn't turn.

"…Panic doesn't change direction."

The captain approached him later.

"…You helped with the timing."

Kevin nodded slightly.

"…Coincidence."

The captain frowned.

"…That wasn't coincidence."

Kevin didn't respond.

Because arguing didn't matter.

That night—

The ship continued forward.

Storm gone.

Sea calm again.

Kevin stood alone at the bow.

Wind hitting his face.

"…This world is bigger than I thought."

Sea Kings.

Marines.

Pirates.

Devil Fruits.

Unknown powers.

Everything connected.

Everything moving.

And him—

Still only stepping in.

Not yet part of the current.

But learning its flow.

Far behind them—

A Marine report was written again.

"…Subject demonstrates abnormal situational awareness and interference ability."

"…Recommend continued observation."

Kevin looked at the horizon.

"…Observation won't last forever."

Because eventually—

He would no longer be something to watch.

He would be something to react to.
