Chapter 1 - 1. Falling Star

ELARA~

The lights were blinding but I sang anyway. It was the biggest stage I had ever been on and in front of me where over three-hundred thousand people. The adrenaline rush was over whelming. Today was the fourth day of my world tour and I thought I'd be exhausted by now.

But not with this number, I was no were close to getting exhausted.

I smiled as I moved my body. The best thing about all this for me was dancing, it made me express myself more.

Lara J.

Lara J.

Lara J.

The name the fans had given me.

They chorused it as I hit the last note. I had to pause for a while and with a smile I raised one finger.

"One more song?" they chorused with me as I asked, it was more of a tradition now. I smiled

Just then a part of the stage opened with smoke and from below emerged Ray. The crowd went wild. He had featured in one of my songs, the surprised look on my face lingered. I wasn't in anyway expecting him.

Another wave of screams hit as the beat dropped.

He smiled as he opened the verse, and I joined in. He was my rumored boyfriend and considering how close we were, it was almost believable. I twirled as I sang the final line to the song. He blew me a kiss and left the stage first.

I walked off stage panting, I could still hear their screams, still hear my name echoing from the distance. My crew rushed me, water, towel, hand fan.

I walked faster. All I wanted was to be alone now and I didn't want any one stopping me for any chitchat. I looked through all of them for my manager but he was nowhere in sight.

I got to my changing room and locked it. I stood with my back against the door, my eyes on the ground. I tried to steady my breathing.

It only got worse.

Another attack.

I rushed to my bag for my inhaler. Emptying everything on the floor I picked it up.

One spray, two then three. I finally began to calm down. A knock on the door caught my attention. Finally he was here.

I opened it. A tall, slim, masculine looking woman stood there, beauty clinging to her as if it were second nature. She wasn't who I was expecting though.

"Yes?" I raised a brow trying to avoid staring at the serpent tattoo curled along the side of her neck, disappearing beneath the collar of her shirt, and her piercings. Four at the right, and two by the left. Was she slow in responding or was I too fast in noticing this things.

"Ray will be leaving soon. He asked if he could see you" she said, her voice caught me off guard. A girl voice being that deep should be illegal. I had seen her earlier today, there was no way I'd forget that platinum-blonde short hair and the way she carried herself like she owned the place.

"And where is he?" I asked

"I'll call him over" she answered turning to leave.

"Hold on" She faced me. I looked out the door to the left and right "And Chris?"

Chris was my manager but since I left the hotel early this morning I hadn't seen him.

She didn't say a word only excused herself and left. Was something wrong? Was he sick?

Another knock to the door, and she was back this time with Ray.

"Elara" he called out as he walked in. We shared a hug. I noticed her presence by the door for a while longer before she left. She was beginning to creep me out though.

"Quite the surprise" I said, pulling back.

"Same. Didn't expect to see you so lively after that news" he said with a smile. What news was he talking about?

"News?" I asked.

The smile disappeared,it felt like he had said something he wasn't meant to let me know. He laughed it off.

"It's always a good time with you when singing, and hey I remembered almost every step of the choreography" he was changing the subject. I let it slide, not completely though.

We spoke a bit more and he left, I packed up my things soon after. My security led me to the car and I was taken back to the hotel. I had an early flight to catch the next day.

I freshened up and lay on my bed, my eyes on the ceiling. As I shut them, the image of the stage came back. The screams, the lights, the feeling.

At twenty-four I had achieved more than my dream ever was.

It had been a long journey but I was finally here. On the big stage.

I was told not to use my phone and to rest, but the itch was real. Tomorrow was the last day of the tour and I'd be drawing the biggest number ever in Hazan.

Tomorrow night I'll be singing in front of over eight hundred thousand maybe even a a million people at Freecs stadium the capital of Hazan.

I switched on my spare phone, which I'd hidden away in my box, and went online.

Tickets had been sold out. It's all anyone could talk about. Then I saw an article.

POP ICON LARA J LINKED TO DEATH AT PRIVATE PARTY. FOOTAGE LEAKED.

My chest tightened.

Underneath it, a comment read; "The fact she sang without a care, proves what she really is." It had nearly eighty thousand likes. And lots of supporting comments too.

I didn't understand any of it. I opened the article, then my DMs.

They were flooded with messages. Images. Videos. As I opened each one of them my heart sank slowly. Most people supported that I was drunk, some called me killer.

There was a footage of me from years ago. Drunk and laughing at a private party I barely remembered and then still images of she and I together before her death.

The girl who was my best friend Angela, had been found lifeless the next morning in her hotel room.

Chris had told me it was handled. I also gave some statements and she was buried not long after.

I stared at the screen, horrified as the footage replayed. Us together, a different video footage of us making out then all of a sudden it was gone. I searched every where but nothing. It seemed the video had been taken down. But the damage was already done.

CHRIS MAXWELL, LARA J'S MANAGER SIGNED OFF FOLLOWING LEAK OF EVIDENCE TIED TO DEATH

My vision blurred as I sank onto the bed. I lowered the phone face down trying to hold in the tears but they fell out anyway. I curled up on the mattress.

I couldn't hear the screams of my name anymore. All on my mind now was what the after math of this would be.
