Chapter 12 - Chapter 12: Shimura Danzō!

"It's time."

At the critical moment—just as the two were about to separate—Kamikawa, who had long been hidden in the shadows, made his move.

The fourth level of the Tiangang Art erupted. Combined with its innate blink ability and the Body Flicker Technique, his speed reached an almost unimaginable level.

No one saw what happened.

Not even Shisui, who was still reeling from the loss of his right eye.

All they saw was a flash of blade light slicing between them.

When the two separated—

Shisui had lost his right eye.

And Danzō had lost his entire left arm.

"W-what just happened…?"

Danzō stared blankly at his severed arm on the ground. His palm lay open, but the Sharingan was gone.

The next instant—

a searing pain erupted from deep within his soul.

"AAAAAH—!!"

He let out a horrifying scream.

Kamikawa let out a cold chuckle and didn't linger.

With a swift motion, he disappeared into the distance.

Danzō's left arm was completely ruined.

His Zanpakutō hadn't just severed flesh—it had cut into the soul itself.

From now on, unless he replaced it with a prosthetic—

any transplanted arm would decay, unable to channel chakra.

Let Danzō deal with that headache himself.

"Danzō-sama!"

The Root operatives hidden nearby were stunned and immediately appeared, forming a protective circle.

They hadn't seen anything clearly.

Only a blur—

and Danzō's arm was gone.

Shisui quickly regained his senses.

Clutching his empty eye socket, he glanced at Danzō's severed arm and realized a third party had intervened.

Without hesitation, he formed hand seals.

"Fire Release: Great Fireball Technique!"

A massive fireball surged toward Danzō and the Root shinobi.

"Water Release: Wild Water Wave!"

The Root operatives countered in unison.

Fire and water collided, creating a thick cloud of steam.

Using the cover, Shisui swiftly escaped.

"Danzō-sama, Uchiha Shisui has fled."

The Root ninja reported.

"Damn it… who was that?!"

Danzō's face twisted with rage and pain. Veins bulged on his forehead as he clutched his shoulder.

For someone as calculating as him—

to have his prize stolen at the last moment—

It was unbearable.

"Should we pursue him?" one Root ninja asked.

"Pursue what?! Retrieve my arm and get me back to Root—now!"

Danzō roared.

He hadn't seen his attacker—but he was certain it wasn't Shisui.

In that situation, Shisui neither had the ability nor the intent to do such a thing.

Now, with his Sharingan exhausted, his body heavily injured, and his Hashirama-cell arm still sealed—

if that mysterious attacker struck again—

he'd be dead.

Meanwhile, after obtaining Shisui's eye from Danzō, Kamikawa didn't reveal himself.

Instead, he went to the Naka River—

the place where Shisui was fated to die.

"So this is Kotoamatsukami…"

Looking at the eye in his hand, Kamikawa felt a wave of disgust and casually tossed it into his system inventory.

Time and space inside the inventory were completely frozen.

He had tested it before—animals placed inside remained perfectly intact.

Storing a Sharingan was no problem.

As for transplanting it—

He had no such intention.

There was no way he was gouging out his own eye like some lunatic.

Nor did he want to end up like Kakashi—dragged down by a Sharingan he couldn't properly sustain.

And honestly—

having just one Sharingan looked terrible.

If anything, he'd rather follow Itachi's example and implant it into a summoning creature.

But just as he stored the eye—

the system notification sounded.

[Ding. Detected a Sharingan in the system inventory. Would you like to fuse it?]

"Fuse? What happens if I do?"

Kamikawa paused.

[Ding. Fusion will replace the host's right eye.]

"…Yeah, no thanks."

Kamikawa's mouth twitched.

"I'm not becoming the next Kakashi."

He looked up toward the cliff above, eyes flickering.

"What if I throw Shisui himself into the system inventory?"

[Ding. If the host does not fear personality fragmentation, you may proceed.]

"…Hard pass."

He cursed inwardly.

"Well, whatever. He's going to die anyway. Might as well test it later."

At that moment—

Shisui and Itachi had already arrived at the cliff.

A place they used to visit as children.

"Shisui… your eye?"

Itachi, usually so composed, now carried a hint of killing intent beneath his calm exterior.

"As you can see… it's gone."

Shisui turned, revealing his empty socket with a self-mocking smile.

"The Uchiha coup can no longer be stopped. If civil war breaks out, other nations will invade—and the Fourth Great Ninja War will begin.

I intended to use Kotoamatsukami to stop it… but Danzō took my right eye."

"I was too naïve. Danzō trusts no one. He'll sacrifice anything to protect the village in his own way."

"In the end… I accomplished nothing. Just made things easier for someone else."

"A mysterious figure appeared the moment my eye was taken and severed Danzō's arm. His speed… even surpassed my Body Flicker."

Shisui paused.

"My left eye is likely his next target. And Danzō won't give up either."

After a brief silence, he removed his remaining eye.

"So before it's taken… I'll entrust it to you."

"Shisui…"

For the first time, Itachi's composure broke. His eyes grew misty.

"You're the only one I can trust."

Shisui smiled, relieved.

"Protect the village. Protect the Uchiha."

In his palm lay the bloodied eye.

He had already accepted death.

Itachi closed his eyes in pain and summoned a crow, storing the eye within it.

"I've secured your eye. What will you do next?"

"If I die, the situation will change. The coup will collapse. I've already left a note."

Step by step, Shisui backed toward the edge of the cliff.

"Wait—Shisui—!"

Itachi finally moved to stop him.

But Shisui spoke:

"Don't stop me… if you still consider me your friend."

With that—

he fell backward into the abyss,

his figure swallowed by darkness.
