Chapter 103 - Chapter 103 - Problems

On Sunday, after Kamiyā Yuu finished signing the official contract with Robert, who had flown to Japan from America, he brought him around Tokyo for sightseeing. Even though this was only their second formal meeting, interacting with each other felt as relaxed and pleasant as spending time with an old friend. Online, Robert was one of the people Kamiyā Yuu had interacted with the most. They also shared the same interests in animation. From Robert's perspective, the quality of the three 'RWBY' promotional trailers alone was enough to earn the admiration of a professional animation critic like himself.

Although Robert was older, he was a veteran animation enthusiast with deep knowledge of both Japanese and Western animation, as well as his own set of evaluation standards for animated works. When discussing animation topics with Kamiyā Yuu, although Kamiyā Yuu had not watched as many anime as Robert, his insight and judgment were no less impressive, and in some aspects perhaps even superior. Once the discussion delved into the deeper details and technical aspects of animation, Kamiyā Yuu's professionalism left Robert astonished. After all, Kamiyā Yuu had experienced the massive wave of Japanese anime culture in his previous world, on top of studying professional knowledge in this world. He was ultimately not someone an ordinary animation enthusiast could compare to.

While the two chatted freely inside a Japanese-style izakaya, Robert was the first to ask, "Mr. Kamiyā, what are your plans after finishing the 'RWBY' movie?"

Picking up some side dishes with his chopsticks, Kamiyā Yuu smiled as he answered, "The movie version will probably be the conclusion of this series."

Robert's chopsticks trembled in his hand. He looked up at Kamiyā Yuu in disbelief and asked in astonishment, "Why? Isn't the value of 'RWBY' only just beginning to be uncovered? If the movie performs well, the potential that can be developed afterward is more than enough to turn this work into an independent animation brand. With your abilities, wouldn't accomplishing those things be effortless, Mr. Kamiyā?"

"What I value isn't the commercial worth of the work, but the story itself."

"Even so, a single movie still can't fully bring out the entire potential of the 'RWBY' series," Robert insisted.

Kamiyā Yuu put down his chopsticks and explained seriously, "That's true. A single movie can't completely explore this story and setting. But for me, this animation is already complete. Does Mr. Robert think I'd be satisfied with merely creating one excellent animation? Just like I said before, 'Red — Crescent Rose' was a work I used to test the market. 'RWBY' is my debut work, but that's all it is. What I want is to create even better animations, not cling stubbornly to a single series forever."

"That kind of adventurous spirit really doesn't feel very Japanese, Mr. Kamiyā." Robert sighed helplessly. In his eyes, Kamiyā Yuu's decision was equivalent to abandoning all the future possibilities of an outstanding animation.

Kamiyā Yuu planned to complete the 'RWBY' movie before May, and then officially enter Japan's anime industry in July with the first true 2D Japanese anime produced by his studio—Season 1 of 'Magical Girl Nanoha'. As for the massive unresolved setup left by 'RWBY' and the sequels to 'Magical Girl Nanoha', he had no plans to produce them anytime soon. Only after the 'Yosuganosora' Animation Studio truly grew into a first-rate animation company would they possess enough manpower and financial resources to properly complete those massive projects.

And the opportunity for the 'Yosuganosora' Animation Studio to transform into a top-tier animation company would not take long to arrive. After Season 1 of 'Magical Girl Nanoha' concluded, the work that had once won the most awards and achieved miraculous sales figures in Japan in its previous world—' Puella Magi Madoka Magica'—would be enough to change everything. Kamiyā Yuu firmly believed that in this Japanese anime industry, where child-oriented magical girl shows dominated and overall anime quality was not especially high, the storm of public discourse created by 'Puella Magi Madoka Magica' would only become even more explosive.

Kamiyā Yuu was greatly looking forward to personally creating the legendary "Three-Episode Rule" within this world's ACG community.

...

After returning to his apartment, Kamiyā Yuu habitually released another promotional illustration before the next character trailer.

This was an illustration that only showed the protagonist from behind. Inside a magnificent and exquisite giant palace, a silver-haired girl wearing pure white battle armor stood atop a red carpet with her delicate chin slightly raised. In her outstretched hand was a uniquely designed longsword. Before the silver-haired girl stood two gigantic armored knights, gazing arrogantly down upon the insignificant ant before them. One held a spear surrounded by fierce lightning dragons at its tip, while the other wielded a greatsword whose simple appearance did nothing to hide the terrifying impression that it could smash a person into minced meat with a single blow.

"The final character promotional trailer, 'White — White Oleander', will officially release on February 3rd. At the same time, a major announcement will also be revealed that day."

After thinking for a moment, he added another note while uploading the promotional illustration:

"Many viewers who enjoy the 'RWBY' series probably have various questions. Therefore, in celebration of the release of the final character promotional trailer, I will select sixty questions here to answer."

...

["My son and I absolutely love these short animations. In order to watch the premieres as soon as possible, my son has even begged me several times to request leave from school for him. As a loyal fan, I'll ask directly: What exactly is the major announcement Master Yosuganosora mentioned? Excitement really is impossible to suppress! — Fire Rescue Worker Raymond."]

["Yosuganosora: Perhaps I can secretly leak a little information? Around May, you may need to request another day off for your son again. Personally, I strongly do not support this behavior."] Kamiyā Yuu chuckled as he typed his reply.

...

["Dear Mr. Yosuganosora, I am a user from China. Due to certain special circumstances, your works cannot officially be uploaded onto Chinese video websites. Therefore, may I ask whether a privately run fan-sub group may upload your works onto video platforms? Of course, we are purely driven by passion and guarantee that we will not seek even one yen of illegal profit from your works. — Ye Lin"]

["Yosuganosora: Of course. As long as it is not used for illegal profit-making purposes, anyone is welcome to share this work."]

At the mention of China, a strange look flashed through Kamiyā Yuu's eyes. He truly felt very interested in this world's China.

...

["Is Yosuganosora a team or an individual? I mean, up until now, you still haven't officially revealed any information regarding your team. I'm honestly extremely curious what kind of animation production team could create short animations of such incredible quality! — Black Mamba Snake."]

["Yosuganosora: It won't be long before that information is officially revealed, so please wait patiently. However, it's not really anything especially worth investigating."]

The release of the movie would also be the moment Kamiyā Yuu formally introduced the 'Yosuganosora' Animation Studio to the outside world.

...

["I think there's hardly any need to guess what the major announcement frequently discussed within the animation industry is. First of all, congratulations to Mr. Yosuganosora. Secondly, I truly look forward to the appearance of the official animated series. At the same time, I'm also very~ very excited for the final character promotional trailer. Judging from the illustration, it seems to feature a silver-haired female knight. That kind of setting is incredibly charming! — Duke of Destruction Altrest."]

["Yosuganosora: I believe the official promotional trailer will give you an even bigger surprise. I can say without hesitation that the fourth character promotional trailer is absolutely the most exhausting one to produce out of all four."]
