Raven remained in the room, laying on the bed while emptily staring at the ceiling. Kenji had gone out for some fresh air if not to buy skewers. She just didn't feel like going out. Her head felt very tired but she couldn't sleep, because she wasn't sleepy.
She even missed smoking. She held out an imaginary cigar, and put it to her lips.
The door was kicked open.
She was startled.
Raven slowly sat up, eyes wide, holding her chest.
In the doorway stood a guy. One shoulder against the doorframe, one hand above his head, and one foot crossed over another.
Will.
" Idiot. Do you know how much that is?!"
Will didn't care. He slowly raised his head, nodded towards her, and walked to her.
They both stood in front of each other, staring at each other before bursting into laughter.
" You missed me!" Will said with a beaming smile.
Raven shook her head with the same smile. She actually pulled a sword from under her bed.
" I have a sword. What do you have?"
Will and Raven glanced at the sword. And then at the same time: "NOTHING!"
They laughed.
Will's face swiftly changed to serious before dramatically running his fingers through his hair.
" I have,.... This."
He showed her a metallic brush in his hand.
Raven smiled at him. A laughing smile.
" That's Jaden's."
Will patted her. " Where's he? Who has it now?"
Raven nodded." It's still Jaden's."
Will shook his head, his hand still resting on Raven's shoulder. " Some things just look alike."
Raven shook her head. " I accept my sword is cheap... Atleast I have it. What do you have?"
Will let go of her.
" I have... Soulmates who have a sword and a brush."
Raven smiled.
Jaden also stepped inside. He glanced at the door on the floor.
" Whoever did this..." He stopped
mid-sentence when he realized Raven was staring at him.
" My soulmate! " She exclaimed trying too hard to suppress the laughter caught in her throat. She nonchalantly walked to him and stood beside him.
" I'm still very short."
Jaden pushed her away.
She cleared her throat." You're paying for it though."
" I'm not."
Will and Raven glanced at each other and then at him with a smile.
Liza also stepped inside.
" Oh my LIZA!" She walked to her and held her hand.
" You're beautiful! Madam Wang will actually buy you a flower of gardens. You're prettier than any flo_"
The back of her head got smacked. Her smile froze. She turned to the shameless person who had just shamelessly slapped her. It was Jaden.
She smiled preparing to scold him.
He just nodded to the doorway.
Raven turned to the doorway.
Madam Wang stood there. Smelling her black fresh rose.
Raven let go of Liza's hand and walked to Madam Wang.
Madam Wang just ignored her and stepped inside.
" Someone please close the door."
They all glanced at the door.
" Hmm, who broke it?"
Will's smile answered Madam Wang's question. She smiled it back.
Will's smile froze. He walked to the door, and just pressed it there hoping it wouldn't fall.
Jaden casually snatched his metallic brush from Will when they all sat down around the table. Will who didn't expect that just blinked at him.
Madam Wang untied the package she had. Raven didn't even notice she had that when she entered.
Dishes.
Steamed rice, roasted chicken, vegetable and meat stew, pickled vegetables at the side and a small bowl of sweet red-beans.
Raven looked at her dumbfounded.
That very moment, the door fell. They all turned.
Kenji was still checking the doorframe, obviously not understanding how the door just fell off, and obviously not understanding how he was going to pay for the door.
He had a package of skewers with him.
He saw them.
Slowly, he stood upright and turned. Intending to leave the place.
Madam Wang quickly snatched the brush from Jaden. She threw it at him.
Kenji dodged and continued on his way.
Madam Wang glanced at the kids in front of her.
" He actually dodged." Her tone made it sound rather a question than a statement.
The four of them nodded.
" Does he know how old I am?"
" I don't think he does." Raven replied looking at the meal in front of her.
Madam Wang sucked in a breath, rolled her sleeves up, and walked outside.
" What a battle!" Liza murmured staring at the doorway.
Will casually picked up the black rose Madam Wang had left on the table and smelt it.
It actually smelled nice.
He put the flower close to Jaden's nose. Jaden didn't instantly push him as expected. He first smelled it.
Will smiled to himself in victory. He pushed himself closer to Liza and put it close to her nose too.
Liza didn't smell anything. She had a cold.
" It's beautiful. She is going to win."
Will placed the flower back on the table.
Jaden lazily stood up and went to pick up his brush.
After a not very short moment, Madam Wang came back pulling Kenji's wrist as if he was an eight-years-old child.
Will almost laughed. Others just smiled.
Kenji couldn't understand how the woman pulling him actually made a crowd of people believe he was a crazy son who wanted to run to the stars.
And , come back with stars' juice. For her!
They all rushed him and gave him no place to run. She even thanked them for stopping her ' crazy son '. He inwardly congratulated Madam Wang. Such an intelligent woman. Did she know how he was feeling?
' Definitely not. But congratulations I do.' Kenji answered his own question, glancing at Madam Wang.
Madam Wang didn't care. Did she? Why would she?
She actually took him to the table and made him sit down.
" I'm your mother."
Kenji couldn't hide his confusion. He glanced at his fellow peers. They actually looked away. His eyes got back on Will. Will just started counting invisible stars.
Jaden? Looked at him with a ' don't expect any help from me my dear BROTHER' look.
Liza? She stared at the door as if trying to recognize her own name.
Raven? She was counting invisible ants crawling on the floor.
Kenji almost laughed at himself. What was he even expecting?
He looked at his ' mother'. She was very happy calling him his son.
Kenji actually smiled. It wasn't that bad.
