Chapter 3 - Chapter 3: ESCAPE AND RUN

Their relationship grew better in the following days. In truth, Liam was actually a very kind person. They got along well immediately.

After five days, Liam was already healed. He was also planning to leave soon.

However, a call from Regor shattered Amore's morning. He had found out that Amore was the one who found and helped Liam. He threatened that if she didn't hand the man over, she would regret it for the rest of her life.

"Who were you talking to on the phone earlier, Am? Why do you look so worried?" Liam asked, noticing her restlessness. They had no choice; they needed to leave early before Regor's men arrived.

"Get ready and leave this place. Regor knows about you. They are coming here now. They will surely take you. I don't know who or where they got the information, but I swear I didn't tell them. So please, leave now."

She was urging him to leave, though he still looked confused. "Go through here. This connects to a secret tunnel that leads outside the house so you can escape. Hurry, go," Amore said frantically, pointing the way.

But Liam refused to move. "But what about you? I think Regor will kill you too. Come with me, Am. You won't be safe here anymore. Let's go."

"Wait. Hold this. It is loaded. Go on, take it, it's just for protection," Amore said, handing him a gun. "Let me just get my important things."

Amore quickly stuffed documents, guns, and money into her bag.

"Let's go, they are here. I can hear their vehicles," Amore said, opening a small elevator hidden inside the wall. They entered and closed it behind them, exiting at the back of the house.

"Search the entire house and bring them to me! Move!" Regor ordered his men.

They ransacked the place but found nothing, so they headed to the back.

They were almost near the tunnel exit when Regor's men spotted them. Amore and Liam had no choice but to fight back.

As they were about to enter the tunnel, they exchanged gunfire with the enemies. They quickly made their way inside and closed the entrance, disappearing from the sight of Regor's men.

"Where are they? You idiots, how did they vanish? Where did they go?" Regor shouted furiously at his men.

"Boss, they shot us. Two of our men were killed and three were wounded," one of the men reported.

"Useless! You let two people escape? Fine, take the wounded back to our base! They definitely haven't gone far, so search every inch of this area. They cannot escape me, is that clear?" he commanded.

"Yes sir!"

MEANWHILE, Amore and Liam navigated through the tunnel to get as far away as possible from their enemies.

They stopped in the middle of the path because Liam was struggling. His wounds were aching; they had only just healed and weren't fully recovered yet.

"Are you okay?" she asked worriedly.

"Yeah, I just need to rest for a bit. I'm feeling dizzy. Just give me 15 minutes and I'll be fine, Am," he answered weakly.

They paused for a while. The tunnel was long and winding, so they were safe for now. But they couldn't stay there forever; they would get hungry, and eventually, Regor's men would find the exit.

After resting, they continued walking. Amore supported Liam's weight, helping him move faster so they could reach the end and get out to safety.

This tunnel had saved her life many times before; it was her usual escape route and hiding place whenever she needed to disappear.

They were getting close to the other end. From there, she knew someone who could help them escape to a different location.

They could no longer stay where they were. They had to get as far away as possible or they would be killed by Regor.

Regor was a cunning and dangerous enemy. But how long could he stay on top? Evil will never truly prevail!
