I stared at Fanny, certain I'd misheard. "Say that again."
"Miss Jennifer and Clyde are the Duke's half-siblings," Fanny repeated, her eyes still bright with the thrill of someone who'd been sitting on explosive information and could finally detonate it. "They share the same father—the late Duke Nikolai Wilder. Jennifer and Clyde's mother were two different women he kept outside his marriage."
I sank onto the edge of the bed, my mind scrambling to process what I was hearing. Jennifer and Clyde. Half-siblings to the Duke? That explained the familiarity, the access, the way both of them moved through Wellspring as though they owned it rather than served it.
On the first day I'd seen Clyde, I'd mistaken him for the Duke because of how finely dressed he was. Even now, he never dressed like a man in service. His clothes were expensive, tailored, as though he held a title of his own.
