Chapter 41: 3RD POV.
Jacob sat up straight, his movements so sudden and sharp that they actually caught Persephone off guard.
The frustration that had been building up inside him since he first woke up on that wooden boat finally boiled over.
"You know what, yes! I am blaming you," he said, his voice echoing off the damp cave walls.
He wasn't whispering anymore nor was he begging.
Jacob looked her right in the eyes, refusing to be the one to look away first.
"Why would anyone serve such an uptight and ruthless woman like you?!" he continued, the words pouring out in a rush.
"You treat people like they are objects you can just throw away when you get bored. You hit me, you threaten me, and you expect me to just say 'thank you' for the privilege of being your slave?"
Persephone stared at him, her mouth slightly open in shock, clearly she hadn't expected this.
