It could be said, at this point, that Magnus had plenty of practice explaining the System to people. He had done it quite a few times already — twice for Alex in different contexts, then for Sofia over a month ago, and again for Harper just last week. So four times. Four and a half, if he counted the partial truth he'd told Jordan at the café. So the explanation to Naomi came out relatively well.
He started from the beginning: the menu, the powers, the death quests, and their targets. Starting with Alex and continuing all the way to Naomi herself. He carefully avoided going into unnecessary details about professor Elena Marquez, but explained enough to make it clear the death threats attached to the quests were very real.
By the time he finished, Naomi had questions. Lots of them.
"So you're telling me," Naomi said slowly, "it literally took death threats for you two to finally get together?"
"Well, when you put it like that—" Magnus started weakly.
"Yes," Alex cut in flatly, "basically."
Naomi blinked thoughtfully.
"That actually tracks surprisingly well," she admitted. "I pretty much tried everything except death threats when trying to set you two up." She paused. "Well, to be fair, I did entertain the thought for a little while before ultimately deciding going that far would probably cross over into rom-com supervillain territory."
Magnus looked deeply uncertain whether he should feel offended, embarrassed, weirdly flattered, or mildly alarmed by that statement.
"And all those threesomes you've been having," Naomi continued, eyes widening in realization, "they were all quest targets! Of course! Everything makes so much more sense now!"
"You're taking this surprisingly well," Alex observed.
Naomi tilted her head slightly.
"I mean… I've been following you two for over a year already," she admitted. "Honestly, this mostly just fills in a lot of the gaps in understanding I already had. Like, I was wondering why you suddenly changed previously observed behavior."
"Previously observed behavior?" Alex sounded mildly concerned.
"Yeah, you didn't share boyfriends before, so when the threesomes started, it was a bit of a shock to me. I mean, you broke up with your last boyfriend because he cheated, didn't you? Though who can blame you—that guy's a massive loser."
Alex laughed nervously, or at least as nervously as Alex Reyes was capable of laughing. "You weren't kidding about knowing a lot about us."
"Oh, I actually have this whole murder board where I—"
Then Naomi abruptly slapped both hands over her mouth.
"…I swear it's not as bad as it sounds," she squeaked through her fingers.
Magnus rubbed the back of his neck awkwardly.
"We, uh… kinda already know about the shrine-slash-murder-board thing."
Naomi made a strangled noise.
"What?! How did—" She paused suddenly. "Okay, no, shrine-slash-murder-board is actually a weirdly accurate description—wait, how did you even know?!"
Magnus winced slightly.
"The System menu shows a lot of personal information," he admitted apologetically. "We didn't mean to pry, but your stats were kinda alarming at first glance."
Naomi slowly lowered her hands from her face.
"Oh," she mumbled sheepishly. Then, after a pause: "What else do you already know?"
Magnus frowned, but answered honestly anyway.
"Your hobbies," he admitted. "Which confirmed you were a fan of Alex. Your guilty pleasures, which was where the shrine-slash-murder-board got mentioned. Your type. Like romantically, not blood type or anything." He paused awkwardly. "And, uh… your kinks. Which I only skimmed and have already mostly forgotten."
Silence settled over the room while Naomi processed all that information. Then suddenly:
"Since you two already know about the murder board," Naomi said carefully, "would you mind if we continued this conversation in my room?"
Magnus looked mildly alarmed. "This isn't the part where you murder us because we know too much, right?"
"No!" Naomi yelped immediately. "Of course not!"
Then she laughed nervously.
"There are just… questions I want to ask you both," she explained while fidgeting with her sleeves. "Only if you're comfortable answering, obviously! But it'll save time if I can reference my files while asking them."
"You have files about us?!" Magnus blurted out. Then he sighed. "Right, of course you do."
"Okay," Alex interrupted before both human disasters in front of her could derail the conversation completely. "We'll come to your room and answer any questions you may have."
Naomi immediately brightened.
"But," Alex continued carefully, "you understand now why we needed to tell you all this first, right?"
Naomi blinked.
"We're not trying to pressure you into anything," Alex clarified. "But Magnus's life genuinely is at stake here, and we wanted you to have the full truth so you could make an informed decision."
And just like that, the mood shifted. Silence settled over the room as the actual reason Naomi was here finally seemed to catch up with her emotionally.
Her expression cycled through shock, worry, embarrassment, panic, fear, hesitation in rapid succession before eventually settling somewhere around nervous acceptance.
"Right." She nodded, more to herself than to them. "Of course."
Then she straightened slightly.
"Given the stakes, obviously I'll help!" Naomi swallowed hard. "Should we maybe schedule the… um… the deed for tonight?" She looked increasingly flustered the longer she talked. "That gives me enough time to mentally prepare myself but hopefully not enough time to completely spiral about it."
"Okay," Alex said carefully. "But before anything happens, we're discussing boundaries and ground rules first. I want everyone comfortable and fully consenting here, even considering the situation."
Naomi's eyes sparkled instantly.
Alex pointed a finger accusingly at her.
"No," she said firmly. "I'm just being responsible. That is not a reason for you to idolize me any further."
Beside her, Magnus leaned over slightly.
"You walked directly into that one, babe," he whispered.

Naomi's room was in one of the newer dormitories closer to the Science and Math Center (SMC), or "smack," as the student body called it. She apologized three separate times — on the way to the building, on the way up to her room, and after opening the door — for "the mess," even though Magnus thought her room was tidier than his in recorded history. It was probably tidier than Alex's on some days too.
The infamous shrine-slash-murder-board occupied most of the wall above her desk. It was a large cork board covered in pinned photographs of him and Alex — both individually and together, timelines, highlighted observations, printed forum screenshots, handwritten notes, annotations, arrows, and red threads connecting everything together in ways Magnus strongly suspected belonged inside crime documentaries. Several sections appeared entirely dedicated to tracking the progression of their relationship. He even spotted page references linked to folders Naomi apparently kept elsewhere.
"My roommate was the first to call it a murder board," Naomi explained while opening drawers, presumably to retrieve her "files." "She practically moved in with her boyfriend, so I live alone nowadays."
Magnus kept staring at the board, unable to decide whether he should feel impressed, intimidated, deeply concerned, or maybe all three simultaneously. Then Naomi brought out her files…
Yes, plurals! The stack was thick enough that Magnus immediately thought of encyclopedias. Or maybe legal evidence in cases against large corporations.
Magnus stared at it in horror, already reconsidering whether "deeply concerned" was strong enough wording.
Naomi began flipping rapidly through the files before asking:
"Wednesday, January tenth. At the animal shelter. Were you the one who saved that baby stroller?"
Magnus stared at her. "You even know about that?!"
"Well, not exactly," Naomi admitted. "I only heard rumors that you two finally interacted there that day, so by the time I rushed over, you'd already left." She flipped through another page. "But some people nearby talked about what happened. Also, there was a guy with a camera who got a blurry picture of you leaving afterward."
"…Yeah," Alex answered for him. "That was a telekinetic save."
Magnus immediately looked alarmed. "Was it really that obvious?"
"It wasn't," Alex reassured him immediately. "I only realized after learning about your powers."
Meanwhile, Naomi scribbled something down furiously before flipping to another page.
For the next half hour, Naomi questioned them with terrifying efficiency.
Most of the questions were about moments in their relationship: where they had been, when certain things happened, or why they made particular decisions now viewed through the added clarity of the System truth. Magnus had never seen anyone squeal like a fangirl one second and take solemn notes the next while asking about someone else's first kiss and first "I love you" before.
Some questions focused on suspicious events around campus. Some had to do with Magnus's saves, some with Tony's antics, and some with things seemingly unrelated to them altogether. Naomi reorganized her files accordingly with every answer she received.
There were even questions about events that predated their relationship. Most of those were directed at Alex, since Magnus remembered almost none of the good he'd done. Alex, meanwhile, learned with growing alarm just how many near misses she and Magnus had apparently had before the System entered their lives. Naomi had definitely not been exaggerating when she said she tried everything except death threats to set them up.
By the end of it, Magnus and Alex were both becoming increasingly concerned by how extensively Naomi had apparently documented their lives.
Meanwhile, Naomi carefully reorganized her files into neat stacks with the satisfied grin of a researcher making groundbreaking discoveries in her lifelong project.
Magnus watched her quietly for a few seconds, then leaned toward Alex slightly and whispered:
"She scares me a little."
"Almost every girl in your life does," Alex snorted. "You should look on the bright side, babe."
"What bright side?" he asked incredulously.
"If someday we're murdered, and we leave instructions in our will to make Naomi the lead investigator," Alex offered, "she'll probably catch the killer."
"Unless she's the one murdering us," Magnus pointed out. "Then she'd be able to make it look like a suicide and nobody would question it."

They ordered pizza for lunch and tried to decompress with casual talks for a while.
After that came the logistics talk, which Alex was basically a professional at handling by this point. Though after what happened at Harper's last week, Magnus could never fully erase the mental image of his girlfriend biting another girl whenever these conversations started.
Alex narrowed her eyes at him. "You're thinking about what Harper said again, aren't you?"
He immediately averted his gaze. "I'm not."
"I was seven at the time!" She smacked his shoulder.
Naomi blinked at them, unable to understand the inside joke. Alex turned toward her apologetically:
"Ignore him, he's just being weird."
Magnus immediately turned to Naomi while pointing at Alex. "She bit another girl at a birthday party when she was se—"
Alex slapped a hand over his mouth and whispered, "I'll let you die if you want to so badly."
The tension eased after that though, and the conversation went relatively smoothly.
They discussed boundaries, expectations, ground rules, and cues — both verbal and non-verbal in consideration of Naomi's kinks — for when someone wanted to stop. Alex had to reiterate multiple times that Naomi shouldn't idolize them, at least not in the next few hours if permanently wasn't an option. Magnus repeatedly told Naomi she could stop things at any point she wanted. Which was genuinely how he felt, but also made it harder for the sophomore not to idolize him further considering his life was literally on the line.
After an hour of awkward logistics, they quickly had dinner at the cafeteria before returning to Alex's room.
As soon as they stepped inside, the mood shifted in that specific way that happened when everyone knew exactly what was about to happen next. The truth about the System hadn't quite stripped away the image of "perfect couple" Naomi had idolized; if anything, it had merely reframed it around the underlying stakes: Magnus's life. For Naomi, this didn't diminish the attraction, but transformed it into a devotional act.
They settled onto the bed, the atmosphere cautious yet charged. As previously discussed, Magnus and Alex started with each other first while Naomi sat near the edge of the bed, watching them with an intensity that bordered on religious. Her breath hitched softly as she watched Alex straddle Magnus's lap.
As Alex pulled her boyfriend into a kiss and slowly ground down against him, Naomi's hand drifted downward almost instinctively. She never looked away from them, fingers slipping beneath the hem of her skirt to find the damp heat between her thighs. Soon she was touching herself in time with their movements, soft rhythmic motions that mirrored the grinding of their bodies.
Alex eventually pulled back from the kiss and gave Naomi a gentle, knowing smile. Then she reached out, fingers curling around the younger girl's wrist as she tugged her closer. "Ready for more?"
The transition became a blur of shifting fabric and rising heat. Naomi was drawn fully into the center of their orbit, her shy composure fracturing as she found herself pressed between them. The first contact was exploratory: mouths and breath and tentative touches. Alex guided Naomi downward, and soon the two women were working together on him.
It started as a double blowjob, a coordinated effort of warmth and wetness. Naomi was hesitant at first, movements uncertain, but as she felt Magnus's fingers settle gently into her hair, she gradually grew bolder. The sensation of Alex's tongue swirling around the base while Naomi focused on the head was sensory overload in the purest sense. Naomi heard Magnus's breathing hitch above her, felt the vibration of his groans through her throat, and the reaction only encouraged her further.
She eventually pulled back, lips glistening as her gaze locked onto Magnus's. The shyness remained, but it was slowly being overtaken by something more daring underneath.
"I… I want to try," she whispered, voice trembling slightly. "The thing we talked about. The deepthroat."
Earlier, they had already established non-verbal cues for moments when someone's mouth was otherwise occupied: three taps meant stop.
"You sure?" Alex checked one last time before nodding reassuringly. "Then go ahead. We've got you."
Naomi leaned back in and took him deeper this time. She pushed past the instinctive urge to gag, focusing entirely on maintaining eye contact. Tears gathered at the corners of her eyes as her throat tightened around him, but she refused to look away. For the first time in a very long time, she wanted Magnus to truly see her — not as some distant admirer lingering at the edge of his life, but as a woman physically overwhelmed by him. The vulnerability of the position, the intimacy of the act, sent heat flooding through her entire body. Magnus's fingers tightened slightly in her hair, not pulling, merely grounding her, while his expression softened into a mixture of desire and familiar gentle concern.
When she finally pulled away gasping for air, she collapsed sideways against Alex's chest, flushed bright red.
"I wasn't lying when I said I was fine admiring you two from afar," Naomi murmured weakly against Alex's skin. "But I definitely had wet dreams about both of you… and this is dangerously close to one of them."
The confession shattered the last lingering tension in the room.
Magnus moved next, awkwardly at first before instinct gradually took over. He shifted Naomi beneath him and pinned her wrists above her head against the pillows. The sudden change in power dynamics — the feeling of being cornered beneath her crush's body and authority — drew a small, sharp whimper of delight from her.
"Is this okay?" Magnus asked quietly. His voice still carried that familiar awkwardness Naomi had already come to associate with him, yet there was something lower underneath now too. Something firmer.
"Yes… please," she breathed, arching instinctively toward him.
Magnus still didn't rush. Telekinesis replaced his hands at her wrists while his mouth traveled lower in a trail of kisses along her chest and stomach. Aura Weave threaded subtly through his praise and reassurances, helping Naomi surrender fully to the overwhelming intensity surrounding her. The words themselves had been rehearsed beforehand — Alex and Naomi had both coached him through parts of this — yet somehow the sincerity behind them remained unmistakably genuine.
Then Alex joined them again, pressing herself against Naomi's side while kissing slowly along her neck and shoulder. The sensation of being surrounded by the two people she admired most was almost unbearable in the best possible way.
Magnus reached toward the nightstand for protection, the quiet slide of latex briefly becoming the loudest sound in the room. Then he finally entered her with a slow, deliberate thrust.
Naomi gasped sharply, eyes flying open before immediately locking onto his again. The stretch was intense, grounding, almost overwhelming in how completely he filled her.
Telekinesis still maintained the restraint while Magnus's body pressed her into the mattress, creating exactly that feeling of helplessness and containment Naomi secretly craved. Every time the intensity threatened to tip into panic, Magnus grounded her again with another soft reassurance whispered against her skin, reminding her she was safe.
As the pace gradually increased, the rhythm between them turned frantic and desperate. Alex worked Naomi's clit with practiced precision, fingers moving in sync with Magnus's thrusts until Naomi felt trapped in a relentless crossfire of pleasure. Her head tossed helplessly from side to side against the pillows while broken cries spilled uncontrollably from her lips.
"Look at me, Naomi," Magnus said firmly. Then, softer: "Is this what you want?"
She obeyed immediately, nodding frantically through blurred vision and racing heartbeats. And for one brief moment, the idolization faded away entirely, replaced instead by something rawer and infinitely more human. She wasn't a fan anymore. Not an observer. Not some girl admiring them from a distance.
She was simply a woman being desired, cherished, and overwhelmed in exactly the way she had secretly dreamed about.
The orgasm hit her like a tidal wave. Her body clenched violently around him as pleasure tore through her in long, rhythmic waves strong enough to leave her trembling. The cry that escaped her ended up muffled against Alex's mouth as the world briefly dissolved into blinding white heat. Magnus barely managed to hold out through it.
Almost immediately after he pulled out, Alex practically pounced on him. She quickly swapped condoms before lowering herself back onto him with a needy sound.
"God, I've missed this!" she whispered breathlessly against his ear. "It's been almost two weeks."
Magnus wisely chose not to point out that their last time together had technically been the threesome with Jordan barely a week ago. He understood what she actually meant: the last time they'd been together without stress, conflict, or her period getting in the way.
While the couple gradually lost themselves in that familiar rhythm again, Naomi slowly recovered enough strength to crawl closer. She watched them quietly for a few moments before carefully moving behind Alex and wrapping her arms around her waist. Her hands slid upward to cup Alex's breasts with a gentleness that bordered on reverence while she pressed slow kisses along the older girl's neck.
Alex reached back and cupped Naomi's cheek fondly.
"Don't worry," she teased softly. "You can be a little rougher than that. I won't break so easily."
Emboldened, Naomi's hands became bolder against Alex's chest. The older girl moaned openly this time, hips moving harder against Magnus as pleasure steadily built again.
Alex came shortly afterward, her body tightening violently around Magnus in pulsing contractions that nearly pushed him over the edge immediately after. He managed to thrust through it for a few more moments before finally following with a breathless groan of his own, exhaustion washing through him all at once.
As they lay there in the aftermath, the familiar notification sounded in Magnus's head:
[System Notification: Conquest Quest Complete — Seduction Achieved. Reward: Permanent Sympathetic Transference Unlocked] [+1% to all Stats.]
[Sympathetic Transference Leveled Up: Duration adjusted.]
Magnus stared up at the ceiling. All things considered, this week hadn't been a complete disaster. He had survived, both academically and in the significantly more literal sense. He had gained a valuable ally, even if Naomi Homura still scared him a little. And he had Spring Break with Alex to look forward to. The System still loomed over his life, but he wasn't alone. And that was enough cause for celebration.
