Robert's jaw tightened, seeing Kevin was unwilling to speak. "We are not asking for much. We only want to know what happened to her."
Kevin leaned back in his chair. "I have already told you everything you need to know." His tone made it clear that the conversation was over.
Robert's expression darkened.
"Then why are you hiding her death?" Seeing they would be unable to win this way, he decided to push the conversation in another direction.
Kevin's eyes narrowed slightly. "Because I want it kept private."
Mrs. Gladstone laughed, hearing that reason. She guessed Kevin was hiding her death because of the rumors about his curse. "What kind of reason is that? My daughter was a person, not your private item."
Kevin said nothing. He went back to reading the document in his hand as though no one else were present.
The silence stretched between them.
