Chapter 3 - Before We Knew

The mall was louder than usual.

Bright lights, people everywhere, soft music playing in the background—

It should've felt fun.

"Y/n, hold this," your mother said, handing you another shopping bag.

"Mom, this is the third one," you sighed.

Your little brother laughed. "You said you wanted to come."

"I didn't know it meant carrying everything."

Your mother smiled. "Stop complaining and walk."

You rolled your eyes, but smiled anyway.

Moments like these…

They were simple.

Comforting.

Real.

💜 MEANWHILE…

On the other side of the same mall—

"Why did you bring me here?" Taehyung muttered.

His younger sister grinned. "Because I wanted to."

His mother shook her head. "You're always like this. Just walk with us."

"I am walking," he replied lazily, hands in his pockets.

But his eyes wandered.

Unfocused.

Like something was missing.

💜 THE COLLISION

You turned quickly—

And bumped into someone.

"Ah—sorry—"

You looked up.

And froze.

Taehyung.

For a second, everything around you blurred.

"Oh," he said.

Same reaction.

Always the same.

"…Hi."

"Hi."

Awkward.

Too normal.

Too nothing.

💜 THE SURPRISE

"Y/n?"

Your mother's voice came from behind.

You turned. "Mom—"

But she wasn't looking at you.

She was looking at—

Taehyung's mother.

And suddenly—

Everything changed.

"…It's been a long time."

Your mother's voice softened.

Taehyung's mother smiled slowly. "It really has."

Silence.

A strange one.

Not awkward.

Not comfortable.

Just… heavy with something you didn't understand.

💜 CONNECTION REVEALED

"You two know each other?" you asked quietly.

Your mother looked at you, then at Taehyung.

A small, almost nostalgic smile appeared.

"We weren't just acquaintances," she said.

Taehyung's mother added softly—

"We were very close."

Taehyung frowned slightly. "You never told me that."

"Some things," his mother said gently, "just… stayed in the past."

That word.

Past.

It carried something.

Something unfinished.

💜 WALK TOGETHER

Without really deciding—

You all started walking together.

Your brother talking to Taehyung's sister.

Your mothers walking side by side.

And you?

Walking beside him.

Again.

Like always.

"So…" he spoke after a while, "you come here often?"

You blinked slightly. "Not really."

He nodded.

Silence again.

But this time…

It didn't feel as heavy.

💜 SMALL FAMILY MOMENT

"Y/n was always quiet," your mother suddenly said.

You froze. "Mom…"

Taehyung looked at you.

"Still is," he said casually.

You frowned slightly. "I'm not that quiet."

He raised an eyebrow. "Really?"

You looked away. "Only around certain people."

A pause.

He almost smiled.

Almost.

💜 THE SHIFT

At one point, your mothers slowed down.

Talking more deeply now.

Their voices softer.

Serious.

"…things didn't end well," you overheard your mother say.

"We were young," Taehyung's mother replied. "We didn't understand."

You didn't fully get it.

But you felt it.

Something had happened.

Something big.

💜 LAST MOMENT

As you all stood near the exit—

"Let's meet again sometime," Taehyung's mother said.

Your mother nodded. "We should."

A small smile.

But not completely happy.

Just… polite.

You turned to leave.

But—

"Y/n."

You looked back.

Taehyung.

"…Yeah?"

He hesitated.

For the first time.

Then said—

"You didn't tell me our moms knew each other."

You blinked. "I didn't know."

A pause.

Then—

"Guess we weren't that close after all."

He said it lightly.

But it landed… heavier than expected.

You forced a small smile.

"Yeah. Guess not."

💜 END SCENE

That night—

You sat quietly in your room.

Thinking.

About today.

About him.

About your mothers.

And one thought stayed—

Maybe… we were always meant to cross paths.

Just… not like this.
