Chapter 5 - Chapter 5-The Choice!

Chapter 5

The pain came first as Danzo had the sharingan ripped from his socket.

"AGHHHH!" Danzo screamed out in pain as he jumped back while his ANBU rushed towards the white haired Hatake traitor.

"Do you have any idea of what you are doing?" he roared and he had sacrificed so much just to get his hands on Shisui's eye, and now it had been taken from him.

"You are surrounded," and his ANBU had him completely surrounded.

"Surrender, and I will let you join your lover in peace," and his white hair were covered in blood, and yet as he looked up Danzo noticed the eyes.

They were different. From what he could remember Sakumo's youngest son had always had dark colored eyes, and yet what he found staring back at him was a brilliant dazzling blue.

He did not react, as he simply raised his hand, and suddenly he could feel him gather a massive amount of chakra.

"Blue," and a blur orb formed in his hand, and shot forward and when the masked ANBU tried to jump away, they failed as the blue orb swallowed them whole.

"What the...."

BOOOOOM!

And then it exploded, and their bodies were torn apart as blood splattered all over as Hatake simply stepped forward like a man possessed, as blood showered down at him, and in that moment that stare felt like death itself and he knew that there was no reasoning with him now.

"Attack," he ordered and all of his men jumped forward a this command.

"Kill him!"

SAKURA HARUNO

With the exams drawing near, she was not surprised when their sensei called her to come to the training ground earlier than usual. The chunin exams were a great opportunity for them to move ahead in their life as shinobi even though Sakura felt rather unprepared for them.

She had improved much since her academy days, but in comparison to both Sasuke and Naruto she was ordinary. Sasuke-kun had always been a genius, and she was not surprised to see that he was stronger than her.

He could already use ninjutsu as a genin, but Naruto's extremely massive chakra reserves and his unorthodox strategies made him a rather strong shinobi as well.

She had her own gifts, but compared to them they were rather mundane. So she would simply have to work harder, then but when she reached the training ground she found it empty of her teammates, and much to her surprise her sensei was already there waiting for her.

"So have you finally found your way on the way of life," she teased, reminding him of his usual excuse, and Kakashi sensei closed his book as he gave her a smile, though it was hard to see behind that mask of his.

"Strange as it is I found a little help along the way this time," and she had learned that the mask was a common theme with the Katake, seeing how her sensei's brother wore one as well.

Though his was shaped in the form of a blindfold that covered his eyes. And the meeting had been a memorable one, even though it had not lasted very long because of Naruto and his big mouth.

Sensei's brother was quite strong, and had toyed with them in their duel. Still, she was surprised that such a powerful shinobi had retired.

"It seems like Naruto and Sasuke have taken up your habbits," and the duo was late, which was rather unusual of them. But perhaps they were still sulking from the loss they had suffered yesterday.

"Oh, I am afraid they will not be coming," and her head snapped towards her sensei at that.

"And why is that?" she asked sharply and he rubbed his chin.

"Well, because I did not ask them to come," and her shoulders sagged as she roared back.

"So you only called me?" and he nodded.

"Why?" she asked.

"Because I wanted to discuss something with you," and now her interest was piqued, and the shift in Kakashi sensei's mood was instant, and in a blink the smile vanished and his eyes became sharper.

"I believe you have noticed how you have begun lagging behind your teammates," and while her pride wanted to push back against the opinion, she knew it to be the truth.

"You were the top kunoihi of your class, and you are rather smart but in the field both Naruto and Sasuke are more effective than you," and her fists balled up that painful, but genuine assessment.

"I am not trying to put you down," and Kakashi sensei placed a hand on her shoulder, making her look up.

"There are things that I cannot tell you, but both Sasuke and Naruto are rather special shinobi," and she knew that well.

Sasuke possessed the same eyes as her sensie, the Kekkei Genkai of the Uchiha clan. He was the last surviving member of the clan as well and Naruto was special in his own ways.

Naruto was special as well, and his wounds healed rather quickly and he seemed to be always full of energy. She did not know yet if this was a kekkei genkai or was it simply just Naruto being Naruto.

"I know," and compared to them she was ordinary.

"It seems like I am still rather bad with my words," her sensei sighed, and she looked up at him with a frown.

"What I am trying to say is that you are equally special as them, but the thing is that I simply lack the tools to make you grow," and so her lack of growth was his fault.

"Sasuke and I share a similar fighting style so helping him is easy, and Naruto simply needs to master the basics. Compared to that I am kind of at a loss on how to help you," and that was a strange admission to make.

"So, what do I do then?" she asked, for she wanted to improve. She wanted to get stronger.

"Well, the thing is I have found you the perfect mentor," and now her eyes widened with excitement.

"A mentor," and he nodded.

"Yes, a shinobi who can help you in ways I cannot, and the thing is you have already met him," and she frowned for a second as she scoured through her recent interactions and one individual struck out.

"Your brother!" she gasped in surprise, and Kakashi sensei.

"I did tell you that you were rather smart," and she had seen how powerful he was, but she could not imagine how he could help her get better.

"My brother is a bit strange in his habits but his prowess as a shinobi are unrivalled. He has never taken on any student, but he has agreed to help you out as a favor to his big brother," and so he had already agreed.

And Sakura did not know what to think about it. In a way she was happy that Kakashi sensei had done this for her, but still he was carting her off to a stranger with only a week left in the exams.

The doubt must have been obvious on her face, as her sensei cut in.

"I will always be your sensei, but if there is anyone who can help prepare for the exams ahead, then it is my brother...."

GOJO HATAKE

Gojo hated the village.

Loathed it. He had hated since the day he had crawled through his father's blood trying to wake him up. The memories of that day still haunted him. He had screamed, but by then it was too late.

Sakumo Hatake was gone. The shock would keep him in the hospital would keep him in the hospital for a month, and upon his return he would not just be Gojo Hatake. He would be something more.

He had no desire to be a shinobi, but his name and talent did not offer him a choice. So, it was a shinobi's life for him. He tried to do good with it, or at least as much as he could.

He became iryo-nin, the best one the village had seen since Tsunade Senju herself and that was how he met Hana. Hana Uchiha, a girl fighting fate itself.

She was gone now. She was the only light for him in this wretched world, and now all she had to remember her were the two eyes that lay hidden under his blindfold, and the scabbard she had gifted him for his blade.

"Don't worry," he whispered to her as he put the sword back in its place on the wall.

"I will make sure to corrupt her," and he knew well just how lost his brother was with his students. Kakashi was a prodigy and what took others years to master, he learned within days.

That was just how he had been all his life, and while this genius made him a great shinobi it also made him a terrible teacher.

He believed that most people were like him and could figure out their way in life with just a helping hand, but that was not the case. Kakashi had been trained by their father since he could walk, most shinobi did not have that luxury.

Especially the one's who came from civilian background.

He had not chosen Sakura Haruno out of pity though. He had chosen her for she was perhaps the only one who still had the ability in her to question the village, and its ways.

The old bastard had Naruto wrapped around his fingers, and Sasuke was simply too blinded by hate to see the realities of their world and only Sakura among them had both the intelligence and the ability to see through the politics around her.

He had no intention of turning her into a traitor, but this world could use one more thinker and even if she reached a different conclusion than him, he would have done his brother a favor and he knew many different ways to cash it in.

So, he walked back into the kitchen and began to prepare a pie even as the sign outside the shop showed that the eatery was closed for the day. He had already had several pies delivered to their regulars in anticipation of this, and he believed that this would be a good opportunity as any to introduce the girl to his foreign culinary skills.

The bell on the door rung, just as he put the pizza in the brick oven.

"Is there anyone here?" Sakura Haruno called out nervously, as he quickly piped out from back.

"Of course," and he slid back until half of him was out of the wall, as he waved at the girl.

"Yo, I am here," and she saw him nod nervously, and her apprehension was obvious enough.

"Go, and sit there. I will be out in a few minutes," and she nodded, and sat down on the table politely, and by now the girl had a guess about just how powerful he was, but they had only scratched the surface there.

The truth was that Gojo Hatake had no desire to be a shinobi, but he would be lying if he said that he did not have the talent for it. The eyes that lay hidden under the blindfold had forced him to change much about how he fought, but the last gift of Hana had allowed him to match the powers of people believed to be Gods in this world.

"Shouldn't we be in a training ground?" she asked, and he frowned.

"Why do you say that?" he asked, as he walked in with the pie and the aroma's effect was obvious on her as he saw her shift with excitement.

"Well, since you have agreed to train me, wouldn't it be best to do that at the training ground?" and he put down the pie on the table.

"Of, well the thing is I did not agree to train you per say," and her frown was rapid.

"What?"

"I agreed to help you," he clarified and the words left her even more confused.

"And what difference does that make?" she asked, but before answering he motioned towards the piping hot pizza pie.

"We shouldn't keep the food waiting. It's best to eat it while its warm," and she nodded, and the utensils and the plates slid onto the table with a single twist of his chakra, much to her surprise as the girl dug in.

"This is delicious," she added in a surprise, after the first bite.

"Thank you," and it had taken him a few years to perfect the craft, but now he was rather skilled.

"So, the thing is contrary to what my brother believes I am rather acutely aware of exactly where you and your teamates stand," and it was hard not to given his abilities.

"One could argue that I know you all better than my brother himself," and she did not believe him.

"How so?" she asked.

"Well that is a secret," he answered, as he put a finger to his lips.

"You two really are brothers," she added, and that they were.

"Still, what I mean to imply is that I know pretty much all there is to know about you and with that in mind I believe," and now the smile vanished from his face as the girl listened closely.

"...that you should give up on being a shinobi!"
