Chapter 7 - Chapter 7: The Sharing Session

Fortunately, Tang Han hurried to an empty restroom and washed the stained area as quickly as he could. Even though it was impossible to completely get rid of the honey scent, the wash still greatly reduced its effect on his diminished presence. As long as he did not stay in one place for more than two or three minutes, other people would not notice him.

"Next, please proceed to the conference room. Senior members of the academy will be sharing their experience as trainers, as well as their plans for the future. This is a very important session for every new trainer, so please make sure to attend."

Under Tazuna's lead, Tang Han and the other new trainers arrived at the academy conference room.

A large number of senior trainers with limited mobility were already waiting there. Their expressions were grave as they began sharing their hard-earned wisdom.

"New trainers need to have a clear understanding of their own limits. My advice is to first become an assistant to a veteran trainer and learn the relevant management skills. Spend a few years studying before you go looking for your own horse girl to take charge of. That way, not only will you actually learn something, it is also much safer."

"If you think you are strong enough already and that you do not need any learning before taking charge of a horse girl, then at the very least, never tell her something like, 'If you fail, I'll take responsibility.' If you do, the thing you ruin will not only be her future, but your own as well."

"Do not take on too many horse girls at once. One is ideal. Two is barely manageable. If you have three or more, report to the academy every single day, so that if you go missing, the academy can retrieve you as soon as possible."

"During your time as a trainer, do not let even the slightest thought of romance arise—or show itself. It does not matter whether it is between coworkers, between a trainer and a horse girl, between a man and a woman, woman and woman, or man and man. Keep your distance from everyone, at all times."

"Do not be the one to invite a horse girl out for a meal. Unless she brings it up first. Even then, find a way to refuse."

"Do not pat their heads! Do not touch their ears! Do not touch their tails!"

"The shuttle bus that carries male trainers between the academy and the dormitories cannot take everyone at once, so there is an order of priority. New trainers, please learn to yield to your seniors. Let the exhausted veteran trainers board first. Your consideration can extend their lifespan. Thank you."

"The trainer dormitory requires ID verification to enter, so take good care of your ID card. Do not lose it. If you do, the ones who suffer will not just be you, but also the other trainers in the same dormitory building."

"When sleeping at night, make sure to lock your doors and windows. If you hear the sound of doors being broken down, or the screams of your coworkers, do not go outside. Stay in your room and call academy security as quickly as possible. The academy will send the proper personnel to deal with it."

"If a horse girl confesses to you, reject her tactfully. Do not show disgust, and do not show delight. Play dumb. You must play dumb. Once she leaves, immediately apply to the academy for protection. If necessary, the academy will arrange for you to resign in secret."

"If you are a handsome male trainer, with a pleasant voice, and a gentle personality that obviously makes you popular with the opposite sex, then resign immediately. We are not trying to exclude you. You are simply not suited for this place. If you insist on staying, then a dark basement will be your only destination."

Tang Han: "..."

The sharing session by the senior trainers had started out fairly normal.

Then it got progressively stranger.

Were these really "tips and心得"?

This was basically a horror story collection!

And on top of that, they were speaking so indirectly that if Tang Han had not already understood what kind of place Tracen Academy really was, he might not have understood what they were even talking about.

Sure enough, aside from Tang Han, not a single one of the other new trainers had caught on.

"What the hell, seniors? What exactly are you talking about? I don't understand a thing," complained the afro-haired new trainer.

The new trainer Goumon Kantsuu, the one who had joined the academy to search for his missing older brother, also stood up and voiced his opinion to the elderly trainers on the stage:

"The horse girls are so kind—how can you tell us to play dumb and reject them? Wouldn't that make us scumbags?"

The other new trainers immediately voiced their agreement.

"Yeah! Well said!"

"Exactly!"

Looking at Goumon Kantsuu's small but determined back, Tang Han said from the bottom of his heart:

"Respect."

Now he finally understood why Goumon Kantsuu's older brother had disappeared. The two brothers were probably the same type—soft-hearted fools who were blindly gentle toward horse girls, only to end up getting jumped for it.

Seeing that the hot-blooded rookies below the stage had absolutely no sense of how serious the issue was, the elderly trainers could only shake their heads helplessly.

Back then, they had all argued with their own seniors in exactly the same way. At the time, they thought the older trainers were just putting on airs and trying to scare them. It was only after they themselves had worked at Tracen for a few years and seen the academy's true nature that they finally understood the good intentions of the generation before them.

"The final matter of this meeting," one of the senior trainers said, "is this: are any of you willing to become our assistants and learn how to manage an assigned horse girl?"

The old trainers waited for a full minute.

Not a single person in the audience raised a hand.

Tang Han himself did not choose to become an assistant because of the mission requirement. He had to take charge of a horse girl, otherwise in two days the duration of the Doctor's Outfit would run out.

As for the other new trainers, their reason was simple:

Confidence.

Everyone present had passed layer upon layer of screening to get in. They were all immensely confident in their own abilities, and none of them were willing to do grunt work under a bunch of old trainers sitting in wheelchairs.

"Hmph. No need," the afro-haired trainer replied coldly.

The old trainers: "..."

In truth, a new trainer becoming an assistant to a veteran trainer was a win-win arrangement. The veteran trainers could reduce their contact with horse girls who had feelings for them, while the new trainers could accumulate experience. Since the horse girls involved were devoted to the older trainers, the rookies would not have to worry about being targeted themselves.

But if these new trainers refused to accept their kindness, then there was no need for the old trainers to keep pressing warm faces against cold shoulders.

People only learn to pull their hand back after getting it smashed.

"...Sigh."

The veteran trainers let out tired sighs and rolled out of the room in their wheelchairs.

Standing by the door, Tazuna put a hand to her forehead.

"It's like this every year..."

The meeting ended on an unpleasant note.

"Come on, let's keep touring the academy. We should also see which horse girls are worth taking on."

The afro-haired trainer led the male trainers out of the conference room.

"Let's go tour the academy too, and get to know each other better while we're at it."

A bespectacled female trainer also led the other women out.

Soon, Tang Han was the only one left in the entire conference room.

He was not nearly as carefree as they were.

The Doctor's Outfit on him only had two days left, and now it had inexplicably gotten contaminated with honey, greatly weakening its concealment effect. That meant Tang Han now urgently needed to complete missions to extend its duration—and also find some way to reduce the impact of the honey stain.

From his inventory, Tang Han took out an item.

[Random Horse Girl Three-Choice Draw Ticket]

"Use it."
