The first thing Sez felt was a bone-chilling coldness. She opened her eyes to see a large tree in front of her.
In spite of the heavy snowfall, not a single snowflake had fallen on the tree. What was more, it was in full bloom. As it was in the middle of spring, the tree stood out from the withered trees.
In front of it, leaning against the trunk, was a man whose eyes resembled the green of early spring shoots. The man had a look of total exhaustion as if he were on the verge of collapse. Sez felt as if touching him would make him crumble like a dry leaf.
Surrounded by the small branches of the tree, Sez realized that he was a god.
"...A visitor, I see."
Seraphina approached the tree but didn't respond, simply facing him.
The man caressed the trunk and spoke,
“It's not so bad that the last thing I'll see is a person, not this tree.”
"...Last?"
Both Sez and Seraphina narrowed their eyes at his unexpected words.
