Chapter 169
***
Dran Lygent requested an audience with Rayton in the morning.
“…”
As he walked to the audience chamber, he looked the same as usual: cold and expressionless. Yet, his mind was in turmoil.
“Princess Sez and the emperor’s relationship is far from normal.”
He’d planted a spy in the palace.
The spy reported that Princess Sez and the emperor were sharing the same bedroom and spending all their time together. Though it was Dran who’d first used assassins, the emperor’s actions were incomprehensible, especially towards Princess Sez who was now of age.
Dran began to understand why his daughter, Carolyn, had wanted Sez out of the way.
He’d long suspected Rayton not to be of royal blood, and now, it seemed as if his suspicions were confirmed. Perhaps even the princess knew that Rayton, whom she believed to be her half-brother, was a stranger to her bloodline. That would explain her actions.
But it wasn’t just the sordid scandal troubling Dran’s thoughts.
