Sez wept as if she’d resolved to die, her tears pouring out unrestrained. Eton stood by her side silently, guarding her through those long hours until she finally fell into an exhausted sleep. Then, he headed over to the temple.
“Bel...” he began but halted. “…kiel.”
Eton called out his name but stopped midway. Belkiel was nowhere to be seen in the narrow room, apparently absent.

Eton entered and sat down on the bed carefully, his gaze wandering around the moonlit chamber. He thought about his home in Ijorndt.
‘If I weren’t there, Belkiel would still be living there peacefully.’
Eton knew that Belkiel disliked mingling with people, but he’d never assumed it was just a simple aversion. Over the long years, he’d avoided forming connections with anyone except Eton.
“Those who live less than a hundred years, I don’t want to know such beings.”
