Celine took two steps forward, her gaze sweeping over the rumpled sheets of Kaeren's bed. Her eyes lingered on the second pillow with a tragic little wince that she hid almost instantly behind a brave, watery smile.
When she began to speak again, her tone had dropped to a terribly sympathetic whisper. "It's just... you've been sleeping here, in Kaeren's private suite, for two whole days now. And while I know you're his... guest... and that everything is very new and exciting for you, I'm sure you didn't realize how it looks. Or how it feels."
She paused, her hand rising to rest flat against her still-completely-flat stomach with a gesture so perfectly timed it deserved a theatrical award.
