Queen Erin did not immediately release her familiar beast as it was best suited for aquatic fighting. She was from a kingdom to the east where, she grew up on the coast where the capital city was built. She was the second born and oldest daughter of King Nazan and Queen Nafi.
Queen Erin's older brother, crown prince Eric stilled lived there awaiting to ascend to the throne. When the two of them were younger they spent most of their time in the sea. It was a very fun childhood and the two of them were very close with only a two year age gap. Even now the siblings were still close and missed each other while they were apart.
With the ice type drake closing in she began to draw her mana into her katana and took a quick and fast swing towards the incoming beast. A crescent shaped blade of light shot from the blade towards the beast that was within fifty meters at the speed of light with the power of the sun behind it.
The ice drake quickly banked to the left but it wasn't able to get everything out of the way, with a huge gash being cut into its wing and forcing the beast to land. Right then a lightning plasma beam came bursting out of the smoke filled clouds aimed right below Queen Erins position on the wall. The humming sound of the beam traveling through the air disappeared the second it hit the wall. The humming sound was replaced with a massive explosion which ripped through the other sounds of fighting making everyone stop and look towards the location it came from.
Queen Erin jumped toward the outer city where the ice drake had landed. The explosion below her blew her even further and higher into the sky than she would of liked.
She ended up landing behind the ice drake instead of on top of it like she wanted. It turned around to face her with a pained look of anger on its face. "You will die here and my drakes will tear you apart". "The city will fall and everyone in your family will be killed and your bloodline will end here" King Archie declared in his usually cold calm tone.
"Why have you attacked our city we have had peace between our nations for the last twenty years" Queen Erin asked trying to keep her heart beat calm and steady.
A snarl flashed across his face his pearly white eyes flashing with red filled with hatred and anger. "This has been coming for a long time, I have been waiting for over thirty years to get my revenge on the city of light". "This is revenge for what happened when former King Nomad killed my other familiar beast" he shouted in response. A strong reaction from someone who rarely raised his voice.
Over 30 years ago when the city of Nova was only a small village on the outskirts of the central Kingdom a middle aged Prince Nomad had been tasked with then crown prince Nathan to hold off northern kingdoms attacks and try and end this war either by peace or by force.
Their father was very old and his fighting years had long since past. So he past the task of ending this war to his two oldest sons.
The war between the north and central kingdoms had been going on for the past 3 years with the total casualty count getting close to one million, with the number of familiar beast killed just as high. It was difficult to find the reason behind this war but most believe it was just the north trying to take more territories and land for themselves.
The battle of the dividing forest was the defining moment that ended the war. During this battle King Archie ended up facing both brothers at the same time. It was here his third familiar beast. the great Volcanic drake died. Just after the Volcanic drake ended the life of crown prince Nathan, prince Nomad jumped in and ended its life with one fell swoop of his legendary sword taking its head clean off. Once Archie felt the pain of losing a familiar beast and seeing the true strength of prince Nomad, he called for a truce ending the war. For a man who lived off death the pain he suffered every day since losing his Volcanic drake couldn't be described in words.
Prince Nomad became king after his father died and moved the central capital to Nova. King Nomad built it stronger and more prosperous making it into the city it is know for today before passing everything on to his eldest son, Prince Nathaniel now King Nathaniel named after his brother who died in that historical battle.
King Nathaniel surpassed his father in strength and in skill at a young age being an unnaturally gifted and talented fighter, this is why they waited so long before starting this war. They needed to make sure he was far enough away from home that he wouldn't be able to stop the attack and hopefully end it before he returned.
"Queen Erin I am not going to waste time talking with you it's time for you to die" Archie declared crafting a ice spear out of thin air and throwing it straight at her head. Queen Erin skillfully dodged out of the way and sprinted towards King Archie closing the gap instantly while swinging her sword at the ice drake.
The ice drake blocked with a solid ice shield that took the damage from the attack and shattered instantly. Out of thick black smoke that now covered basically everything a massive beam of plasma lightning blasted its way towards Queen Erin at a tremendous speed. She didn't have time to react other than to brace herself for what was to come.
All of a sudden a brilliant blue light flashed around her and a gigantic sea serpent appeared between Queen Erin and the plasma beam. The gigantic sea serpent used its body to shield her and took the attack for its master. The explosion from the attack blew massive amounts of dirt and dust into the air clouding the Queen and her beast.
When the dust settled Queen Erin was on her knees the remains of the beast she had raised since she was twelve lay scattered around her, the Sea serpent taking its final breaths.
