Cherreads

Chapter 2 - 02. Family.

'What?'

'Me?'

'A system?'

'I can't believe I actually have a system and it's a Livestreaming system.'

'But seriously, you're just arriving now?'

'Don't you know how rich I would have been if I had had you back on Blue Star?'

'I would have been The God Of Content Creating.'

'Oh well, I guess it's nice to have it now than never.'

'But from what I know so far about this world, I don't think people have the time to be Livestreaming their lives when there are monsters and gates opening almost every day.'

'It's the reason why there are no streamers here.'

'Everyone is simply focusing on keeping themselves alive or that of those they cared about.'

"Of course, there are people with powers in this world called Hunters who are trained to battle against these monsters but a greater population of people couldn't awaken anything, so right now each one of them is focused on finding food for themselves and their family one way or another before nightfall."

'Nightfall in this world was the worst.'

'If anyone is daring enough to step out of their house at night, they definitely won't be around the next morning.'

'But thankfully, the Hunters have been doing their best to reduce the mortality rate of the city by facing against these monsters on their own.'

'It's not easy but they still do it.'

'Besides, these guys were super rich due to how much profit they gain from the tower exploration and gate clearing they took part in, so yeah, they had to do their best if they wanted to keep earning so much money.'

Hunters usually discover their abilities when they awaken at the age of eighteen, so it made sense why the Livestream System would become active the moment he awakened his class later today in the awakening temple, but there was really one problem right now.

'Will I really awaken a class today?' Jason uttered skeptically in his thoughts because in his family, no one had ever awakened a class before, so he thought his fate might just remain the same as everyone else in his family.

'But judging by the words on the screen, it seems like I have a really good chance of awakening a class unlike everyone else in my family.'

'Oh well, let's not get too ahead of ourselves and instead, see how things go later today.' Jason tried his best to remain calm and pragmatic.

A part of him was feeling excited about the idea of awakening a class, because that would mean he would have the funds to take care of his family, and he really cared a lot about his father and...

Jason's thoughts were pulled back to the present when he suddenly heard his father's voice.

"Jason.... What's wrong with you? I've been calling your name all the way from the kitchen."

"Huh?" Jason blinked as he watched his father walking into the dining room with an apron wrapped around his waist and a bowl of rice in his hand.

His father had been the one cooking for his family because his father was a really good cook, and his name was Roland Winchester while Jason's name was Jason Winchester.

"What's wrong with you, son? Are you feeling unwell?" Roland asked with a worried tone as he placed the food on the table and then placed a palm on his son's head.

"I'm fine dad."

"Are you sure?"

"Yeah, I am."

"Alright. Then you better hurry to the showers because your sisters are fighting over the bathroom again. So go tell them to be quick or else, everyone is going to be late for your awakening ceremony."

Jason nodded in understanding and instantly turned his gaze down the hall where he could hear his two sisters arguing about something he didn't even want to think about right now.

It was still weird to see how an eight year old could make such a fuss about using the bathroom every time her big sister paid them a visit, and from the mocking tone he could hear from his big sister, Jason could see that Lily was simply having fun with her little sister.

Jason currently had two sisters called Lily and Pip.

Pip was the eight year old girl and she thinks of herself as the cutest little princess of the family but she can be pretty annoying sometimes.

Still, she was the perfect little angel of the family.

As for his big sister, she rarely stayed at home due to her job in the city, but she had returned home last night because she didn't want to miss her little brother's awakening ceremony.

Jason returned his gaze back to his father and watched as the man returned back to the kitchen.

'Oh well, the bathroom can wait for now.' Jason uttered softly in his thoughts.

Seeing how the drama in the bathroom hadn't ended yet, Jason wasn't interested in getting himself involved so early in the morning.

So instead, he began to focus on his food.

Jason began to eat a spoonful of rice but then Mara walked in from the hallway and sat down across from him while pulling her chair out smoothly and reaching for the teapot.

"Good morning, mother."

"Good morning, dear." Mara greeted in return but soon realised that her son hadn't even dressed yet.

"Jason? What's wrong? You haven't showered yet. You do know we have a two hour journey to the awakening temple right?"

"Yes mom, I know and I'll be ready before everyone is done eating." Jason assured her as he noticed his mother was already dressed and ready to go.

Mara had auburn coloured hair and brown eyes which were in contrast to Jason's silver coloured hair and amethyst eyes.

She was dressed in her work attire and was the first to be set to leave not only because she couldn't wait to arrive at the temple for Jason's awakening, but also because she would be heading to work right after.

Mara runs a small textile business so she didn't want to be too late for work because she was the primary earner of the household.

This meant that she earned a lot more money than Jason's father and his two other wives.

Yep, that's right, you didn't hear wrong.

Jason's father had three wives in his household but this wasn't that strange because unlike Jason's previous world, Terra was a planet dominated mainly by females.
