Euphoria was stunned. Did the Fire Beast actually go out to hunt for her? Remembering his previous cold indifference, she hadn't dared to imagine him acting as her provider. Yet, a moment later, the wine-red beast returned, dropping a large bird at her feet.
The bird was alive but struggling with a broken leg. Euphoria felt a massive headache coming on. Does he expect me to eat this raw—and alive?
Hayes watched her reaction with genuine confusion. Didn't females prefer their food fresh? He had intentionally kept the prey alive for that very reason.
"You don't like it?" he asked calmly.
Euphoria looked up at him, horrified. "It's still alive, I..."
