Chapter 95
The door to the King's chambers flew open as Wayne stormed in. Yu was there, caught in a hushed conversation with two tribal elders. The three were startled by the intrusion—Wayne was a vision of raw fury, his features twisting into a half-beast snarl as his claws and fangs began to lengthen.
"You lied to us!" Wayne roared, his voice echoing off the stone walls. "Her scent is all over that room! Where is she? Where did you hide Euphoria?!"
Luce followed close behind, his silence far more terrifying than Wayne's shouting. He radiated a cold, predatory aura that seemed to drop the temperature in the room.
Yu signaled for the elders to leave. He knew the outsiders' tracking abilities were legendary; he couldn't maintain the lie any longer without starting a war in his own castle. "We didn't hide her," Yu said, meeting their gaze steadily. "They left around noon today of their own accord."
Wayne bared his teeth. They had missed her by only a few hours.
