The final scene of Love is Tested was the climax of the entire film—a moment of soul-shattering stakes.
Hera had exhausted every drop of her divine power to save the realm; her soul was fractured, and her essence was scattering like dust. Apollo, the Demon Venerable, finally realized that neither revenge for the Demon Race nor the conquest of the Heavenly World mattered compared to the woman in his arms. He could only watch helplessly as she faded into nothingness, fated to spend the rest of his life wandering the Three Realms in a desperate search for her soul.
This final moment required a "Yin and Yang" kiss—a final, painful goodbye to separate their fates forever.
Amanda was calm, focused, and ready for her cue. Beside her, however, Jasper was visibly struggling. He refused to look at her, his usual narcissistic confidence replaced by an awkward, tense silence.
Noticing his rigid posture, Amanda reached out and nudged him. "There's only one scene left to wrap the whole production. Are you seriously still angry at me?"
Jasper didn't fight back this time. He turned his head away sharply. "You talk too much!"
He avoided her eye contact, but the deep flush creeping up his earlobes gave him away completely. Amanda blinked in surprise. Is he... embarrassed? Jasper actually knows how to feel shy? It was as if she had discovered a new continent. Before she could tease him, Director Mark signaled the start of the cameras.
The atmosphere on set shifted instantly.
In a field of thousands of crimson spider lilies, Apollo knelt, trembling as he cradled Hera's lifeless body. He reached out with shaking fingers to wipe the blood from the corner of her lips.
"Hera, don't scare me!" his voice broke.
Hera's breathing was a mere thread, but her eyes were peaceful. "Apollo... from the moment you chose this war, the outcome was written."
"No! Nothing will happen to you!" Apollo shook his head, tears finally spilling over.
Hera offered a tragic, fading smile. "The Heavens decline, the Demons prosper... the Goddess appears to save all sentient beings." She raised a hand with great effort, trying to wipe a tear from his eye. "Fate is decided. We cannot argue with the stars."
Before her hand could touch his skin, her eyes drifted shut, and she fell into an eternal dream.
"Hera!" Apollo screamed her name in agony. He cupped her face with his hands, leaning down slowly to deliver the final, unforgettable kiss.
That was the script. But just as Jasper was about to press his lips to Amanda's, a gaze so fierce it felt like it could devour him shot across the set.
Even a seasoned actor would have struggled under that pressure. Jasper froze. He tried to concentrate, but the "hidden waves" emanating from the sidelines were impossible to ignore. Frustrated, he pulled back and glared at the man standing near the monitors.
Quentin had been watching Amanda's performance with curiosity and pride, but as the scene progressed, he realized something was very wrong. He had unceremoniously snatched the script from Director Mark's hand, flipping through the pages until he found the offending stage direction.
Seeing Jasper's face inches from Amanda's, Quentin felt a surge of possessive rage. He wanted nothing more than to march onto the field of spider lilies and toss the boy aside.
Amanda, eyes snapped open and annoyed by the break in character, hissed, "What is wrong with you, Jasper? Just one kiss and we're done!"
Jasper, feeling the heat of Quentin's glare, finally snapped. "If you're so brave, go control your husband's eyes! Look at him—does he want to eat me or something?"
Jasper threw up his hands and stormed off the set. Director Mark, assuming the lead actors were bickering again, went running after him to plead for his return.
Amanda sat there, stunned into a daze. How did Jasper know? She thought she had hidden her marriage perfectly. But she didn't have time to dwell on it. She looked up and saw Quentin's tall silhouette walking away toward the director's tent.
"Where are you going?" she panted, scrambling to her feet and chasing after him. She grabbed his sleeve, pulling him back.
"I'm going to find the director," Quentin answered, his voice deceptively calm. "The scene needs to be cut."
Amanda widened her eyes. "What scene?"
Quentin took a deep breath, trying to regain his composure. "Your kiss scene. Unless you have others I should know about?"
Amanda didn't answer immediately. She studied his face for a long time, noticing the tightness in his jaw and the way he awkwardly looked away. A mischievous light flashed in her eyes.
"Are you jealous?" she asked, a small smile playing on her lips.
Quentin froze. He frowned, his gaze shifting to the side. "I am not."
"Oh? Well, if you aren't jealous, I'll just go back and finish the scene with Jasper. It's a very important kiss, after all."
She turned as if to walk back to the field, but Quentin's hand shot out, catching her arm and pulling her firmly back to his side.
"You..." he muttered, his annoyance warring with his reluctance to let go. "You evil girl."
