Chapter 3 - Royal family

I walked through the large lavish corridor filled with huge golden chandeliers on its ceilings.

Evelyn followed close behind me. I met many servants on the way that bowed and greeted me

"Wow, young master Lucas is so handsome." One female maid whispered to another.

I ignored the praises and kept walking forward with an indifferent face.

We soon reached the two large golden doors of the dining room. Two guards exuding magical aura stood in front of it.

They bowed and greeted me, "Good morning, young master Lucas, your highness and the princesses are already in.

I nodded.

"I'll see you later, young master." Evelyn said.

Maids were not allowed to be in the dining room so Evelyn had to leave.

"I'll see you later then." I said with a smile.

The guards opened the two lager doors from me.

I took a deep breath before stepping in.

What greeted me was the rich dining room, filled with golden chandeliers, marble walls and floors. A couple of meters in front of me, a table stretched wide. It was full of food, roasted meat, chicken, vegetables, drinks and more.

Seated on the table were 4 people.

The head seat of the table was like a throne chair made of fine leather and on it sat the Empress of our empire, Alexandra Tan Zalanta.

She wore a long Red dress with a necklace holding a red ember. Her long black wavy hair rested on her shoulders. Her face was nothing to scoff at, she was beautiful beyond comprehension that even when I tried to hate her made me want to worship her. Her red eyes had been locked onto me ever since I stood at the door probably, since she can see people's thermal temperature.

On her left sat two girls both of the same age as me.

One had black hair styled into a wolf cut, red eyes just like her aunt, she wore black pants with a white blouse that seemed to be fighting for its trying to hold her bosom. She had a tomboyish look. She was Londres Tan Zalanta, the third princess of the Empire of Yves.

Next to her was a girl with a crown of latte blond hair with red eyes that gave off the air of nobility, dignity and beauty. She wore a complete full black dress with black earrings, black lipstick on her thick lips that anyone would want to kiss and bite. She looked like a gothic angel with her beautiful angelic aloof face. She was Andromeda Tan Zalanta, the second princess.

'She is just like the Demon , like the Judge of fire, Archangel uriel.' I remembered a character from a book I used to read back in my past life.

Across her, on the other side of the table, on Alexandra's left, sat another girl—no, a woman, she wasn't the same age as us, her face could tell you everything.

But it was the way she looked that could make anyone question whether she was royalty or not.

Her beautiful long pale white hair was all dishevelled as if she had just woken up and yes, she had indeed just woken up, she wore black pajamas that had chibi dragon designs on it. Any noble seeing this would say that what she was doing was disrespectful, that she had no dignity and especially in front of the empress herself.

However, she did not care. She was the first princess of the Empire after all.

Sephira Tan Zalanta.

The beauty of the Yves empire, rumored to be the most beautiful woman alongside the empress. Her face was so beautiful that even when she didn't look noble, she was still beautiful nevertheless. An oval face that looked almost perfectly symmetrical and with a beauty mark under her right eye made her look like an art made by the gods themselves.

Her red eyes screamed of laziness and were the first to greet me as I walked to the table.

"Morning Lucas~, yawn" She said with a yawn.

"Good morning Sephira, how did you sleep?" I asked her with a small smile as I took the empty seat next to the empress and her.

"Not good cause I woke up too early in the morning to attend breakfast with you brats while I wanted to sleep." Sephira said nonchalantly.

A look of irritation crossed Londres's face but it quickly vanished as she cut the meat on her plate while Andromeda kept eating with her aloof face.

Sephira's personality is what made me like her the most between the princesses and plus she was the first to accept me without any contempt for being from commoner origin but kindness while the others took a long time to accept me, well except for someone else who is not her, the crown prince, someone I call a real sibling unlike the one that I'm blood related to in this world.

Unlike in the fantasy settings where the crown prince was always the bad guy who hated commoners, this one was pretty kind.

"Good morning, Andromeda and Londres." I greeted the other princesses,

Andromeda just replied with a nod, her cheek had a stain of brown sauce, she looked kinda cute as she tried to clean it with her hands.

Londres didn't reply at all, that's how she behaved most of the time with me but did I care?

Fuck no.

"And good morning, Empress." I turned to the empress and slightly bowed my head.

She just gave me a nod of acknowledgement with cold indifference as the Empress she is.

It always surprised me how she could act like a different person right now when just yesterday she was moaning under me.

'Women, can't understand them,'

Without further ado, I served some food on my plate and I started eating.

'Gods, the food is always so good, the chef was probably blessed by the god of cooking or something.' I thought as I savored the taste from the roasted meat.

No one spoke, only the sound of cutlery and chewing filled the room.

"So, are you guys ready for your awakening?" Someone broke the silence.

My eyes shifted to my right, it was Sephira who broke it.

"It is all cool, I only wonder what kind of magical ability I will get and perhaps maybe a magical affinity?"

"Tsk, just because you belong to the royal family now, don't think that your commoner talent will increase as well." Londres replied with a snort, "Hell, I don't think you'll awaken something good."

With a poker face I simply looked at her for a couple seconds and then continued eating.

"We'll see." I said.

She clicked her tongue again at my behavior. "Commo—"

Before she could even reply, a cold look from Alexandra stopped her words from continuing.

Londres bit her lips and resumed eating her food silently.

Londres was those kind of noble brats who did not like commoners at all, completely despised them. That's why she never really accepted me even though I said that everyone did. She tolerated my presence more. So whenever she could, she would try to humiliate me, whether in banquets or even at the palace. Unfortunately for her, I was never bothered by her behavior even though it irritated me a bit from time to time, it was manageable.

However, Alexandra did not like her behavior towards the commoner.

Why?

Because she was born a commoner herself, so whoever treated commoners badly would see her wrath.

Sephira just watched Londres amused.

"Well, I wish you the best Lucas, I hope you do not run away when you see the knife trying to stab your chest." Sephira patted my head before she stood up and walked away.

My eyes watched her back until it landed on her feet—she had no shoes on.

I smiled internally. 'She is really carefree.'

Now you may be wondering, why did she speak about being stabbed by a knife.

Well it was simple and complicated at the same time.

In this world to awaken magical abilities, teenagers have to be stabbed with a knife to the heart in order to awaken.

Crazy, right?
