He didn't argue.
She watched him for a few seconds longer with that expression on her face.
It wasn't quite contempt. It wasn't quite amusement.
Both were there.
Then she looked down at her plate and resumed eating.
The silence between them felt different now.
The easy cheerfulness she had worn through most of the evening had faded. She ate steadily and said nothing.

The restaurant continued around them. Staff moved between tables. Cutlery clinked softly in the distance. A couple near the window paid their bill and left.
A fifth plate arrived.
Her face brightened immediately.
The reaction was so genuine that it almost made him forget what she was.
The server set the plate down.
She thanked him.
Then immediately began eating.
"That Umbral."
She wasn't looking at him.
Her attention remained fixed on the food.
"The large one. The one that came through the wall."
She cut into it neatly.
"It's been following you."
Kaito kept his expression level.
