Chapter 45: A Massacre Caused by a Language Barrier
Hiss—!
The two spiders sucked in a sharp breath simultaneously upon hearing the system's voice.
"I was just saying it, did you have to be so domineering about it?" Shirazawa's mouth twitched, and he rubbed his brow as if he had a migraine. "Also, why are these titles all centered around healing and defense?"

"There, your wish has been granted. We're even," a playful voice drifted from the phone.
"Hey! A lot of these titles give overlapping skills, that doesn't count!" Shirazawa immediately retorted. It was rare to find D being so "generous," so he felt he had to squeeze out every drop of value possible.
"You only said you needed ten titles; you didn't specify which titles," D's explanation left Shirazawa speechless.
It seemed... that was technically true.
"Hmph. Regardless, I'm dissatisfied," Shirazawa grumbled, stubborn despite being outargued.
"No problem. You can dial back to file a complaint after this call ends," D sounded unusually accommodating, but her next sentence revealed her true colors. "Of course, the customer service agent is still me~~"
"Screw you."
Beside him, Shiro pulled on his arm, gesturing for him to quit while he was ahead. If they truly ticked her off, they'd be the ones suffering. What Shiro didn't know was that if D truly got angry, no life in this world could stop her. With a single glance, this crumbling world would likely be annihilated...
"Miss Spider is the sensible one, after all," D praised with a sweet giggle.
"Hehe..." Shiro rolled her eyes. *If I could actually beat you, I'd pin you in a corner and rub your face into the wall over and over.*
"Well then, our little chat comes to an end. Please continue to provide me with entertainment from here on out."
Heck no, I refuse!
"Of course, before that, I hope you can defeat her and stay alive to bring me more joy~"
"See ya."
D's sweet, seductive voice vanished, replaced instantly by an invisible, crushing pressure. The two spiders, previously relaxed, suddenly looked like they were facing a mortal enemy. They sprang up into combat stances, glaring at the horizon.
"That's..." Shiro activated her Clairvoyance, spotting a black dot rapidly approaching.
"Crap, she's here already? The Demon Lord's territory is thousands of miles from the labyrinth!" Shirazawa was stunned. He finally realized why D had dumped all those healing and defensive skills on them. It was to help them survive the Demon Lord!
Though, realistically, would these skills even matter? Whatever—time to bail.
"Shiro, move!" Shirazawa grabbed Shiro and bolted, leaving nothing but a trail of dust.
"Hey! Stop pulling me! What's happening?!" Shiro struggled.
"No time to explain, get in the car!" Shirazawa barked as he dragged her along.
"Where are we even going?"
"I don't know, just running is the right move!"
They sprinted desperately toward the coastline. But before they could even touch the water...
BOOM!!!
A massive explosion rang out as a figure descended from the heavens. The resulting shockwave flipped them both over, slamming them into the sand.
"Cough... damn, what is that?" They spit out sand and silt, struggling to stand.
The dust settled. The newcomer was draped in six black silken ribbons that looked like spider-leg ornaments. Her vital areas were covered in black leather armor; she was petite and delicate, with refined, beautiful features. Beneath her short black hair, her eyes flashed a crimson like blood-red gems—cold and merciless. Despite her "cute loli" appearance, she radiated the domineering majesty of a queen.
She looked down, scanning them with a chilling gaze. The pressure was so intense it felt like their lungs were collapsing. This aura was dozens of times stronger than any monster they had ever encountered.
Shiro froze. Habitually, they both threw out an Appraisal.

"Ancient Divine Beast?!"
"Demon Lord?!"
Shiro's eyes bulged, her jaw nearly hitting the sand. "Is... is this the being at the very peak of all spiders?!" *What is wrong with this world? Why are we being targeted by a monster like this?* Shiro wailed inwardly in despair.
"Demon Lord Ariel... the strongest existence in this world," Shirazawa muttered.
"You know her?!" Shiro shrieked.
Shirazawa sighed, his face a mask of melancholy. "She... is our grandmother."
"So you're saying, because we disobeyed Mother and she couldn't handle us, she called for backup—which just happens to be Mother's mother?!"
"Exactly."
"But nobody told me Grandma was a Demon Lord!!" Shiro shrieked, holding her head.
...
"How interesting. To think spiders would possess such exaggerated Ruler skills."
"Submit to me, and I shall forgive your crimes."
Demon Lord Ariel lifted her chin arrogantly, looking down at the two tiny ants.
"No way, no way! I'm not fighting a monster like that!" Shiro, unable to understand Ariel's Demon Language, complained to herself while waving her front legs frantically in refusal.
Unfortunately, a tragedy born of a language barrier was about to unfold. Watching the spider wave its legs dismissively, Ariel's eyes narrowed. In her mind, that gesture clearly meant a refusal.
"Hmph. If you choose to refuse, then die."
Swish—BOOM!!!
Ariel flicked her hand. Countless invisible threads instantly sliced the two into a million pieces.
Shiro and Shirazawa: Deceased.
Age: 2.5 years.
...
Shirazawa: "Dammit, I didn't even say anything! Why kill me too?"
Ariel: "Silence is considered a default agreement with the refusal."
