Two days have passed quickly, with several feedbacks from other adventurers about the increasing danger in the forest, the guild decided to postpone the missions related to it for a while, what left for the adventurers after that were the small missions.
The party decided to focus on increasing their power until they become able to take good missions again, that's why the troubled witch headed to the library, "knowledge is power" this might be just a beautiful sentence for normal people, but for witches knowledge is really the source of their strengths.
In this old quiet library a young man setting on a table reading a book carefully, a huge pile of books on the table showing the amount of the books he had already read,his cloak and bag are on a chair beside him.
Daichi:(so you finally decided to come?)
While putting his chin on his left hand, Daichi's eyes stayed focused on the book he was reading, Scarlet decided to sit on the other side in front of him:(how did you know that I would come?)
Scarlet's thoughts:(strange.....I can't feel the same pressure as before from him)
Daichi:(it's simple, you are a witch,you almost died a few days ago too, so you will try to become stronger, obviously you will head to the person who did something that should be impossible to do)
Scarlet:(you are terrifyingly correct, when an unexplained phenomenon appears in front of me then it only means I lack knowledge....so, are you going to tell me how did you use two opposite elements?)
Daichi:(no, I won't)
Scarlet:(huh?then why did you wait for me to come?)
Daichi:(I never said that I was waiting for you, I just haven't finished what I came for yet)
Scarlet looked at the pile of books beside him:(wait....you really read all of this in two days?you are a reading maniac)
Daichi:(I'm not) he responded immediately, and of course his instant response didn't fool her, but she decided to not comment.
Scarlet:(*ahem* if you don't want to answer me then I guess I will just try to look for a useful book here)
Seeing that she can't achieve what she came for she decided to leave, but at the moment she tried to stand from her seat,Daichi:(you are awfully hasty for a witch, I told you that I won't tell you the reason I can use Two opposite elements, but I didn't say that I won't teach you anything)
Scarlet stopped and fixed herself on the seat again:(what do you mean?)
Daichi:(you are a witch,what I did has nothing to do with witchcraft, so now I will teach you how to increase your power as a witch)
Scarlet:(you know that I'm a witch but you still say this?I hope that you are not making fun of me)
Daichi:(why would I do that?I know that as a witch it's almost impossible for you to find anyone who can teach you things related to witchcraft except another witch, but I can guarantee you that my knowledge is better than the witches Queen)
Scarlet took a few seconds before responding:(alright, I will listen to you)
Daichi smiled faintly:(let's start with the basic knowledge, tell me what is the difference between Magecraft and Witchcraft)
A look of surprise appeared on Scarlet's face:(are you sure you are not making fun of me? this is not even a question.....*sigh* fine, Magecraft is any shape that magic can take, you can also say it's the way of using magic,be it materialising, healing or anything else, but it comes from the creature itself, basically every creature can use certain types of magic or techniques and can't for an example use two opposite things at the same time)
Despite that Scarlet made it obvious that she was referring to Daichi, but he didn't flinch and his eyes were still focused on the book.
Scarlet was a little offended by this but decided to continue:(on the other hand, Witchcraft is like a contract with the world or the mana itself, of course it has to be activated using mana but this mana can be yours or from any other sources, these contracts are what we call spells, they can be enchanted or can be drawn, these contracts follow rules of their own, the most known spells are the ones in the artifacts, those spells came from the research of the greatest witch Merlin,the other known type is the spirit summoning spells, those are made by contacting the spirits which is something rare, but they are known because of how powerful they are..... that's everything I can say about them, was it some kind of a test or what?)
Daichi smiled obviously this time:(i can tell by your answer that you were focused on learning when you were still in the forest, you call the spells "contracts" just like the highest witches, but you still haven't realised how deep this definition truely is)
Daichi closed his book and put his right elbow on the table, he rested his left cheek on his left hand then continued:(spells need three things:
First -he made a number one sign with his right hand- thing is the material, second is the shape or what we call "the magical circle", finally is the content or basically what is written, of course that only applies for the drawn spells and not the enchanted ones)
Scarlet:(everyone knows that, what's your point?)
Daichi:(through the history witches were making their research like the alchemists, trying new shapes or changing the inscriptions they were barely touching the surface of the true witchcraft..... until one witch came and changed the whole thing, the mother of witchcraft Merlin, she was a true genius, without any special talent it unique ability she discovered the most important thing about the witchcraft, and that was the language)
Scarlet was confused:(what do you mean by that?)
Daichi:(I told you that you don't truly know why higher witches call spells contracts, if you want to make a fair contract with someone...can it be in a language he can't understand? And miswriting something in the contract ruins it )
Scarlet:(is that why some spells fail to get activated?)
Daichi:(a part of it to be specific, if the magic circle and the inscriptions weren't suitable for each other it will fail too, but the inscriptions are the most important aspect and that means the language is the most important part as well.... almost 90 percent of the used spells are made by Merlin, that can seem so strange until you understand that she decoded the runic symbols, she discovered that the language is the most important part and even decoded a one, that's why she was a genius...the high witches know this but none of them is actually able to decode the symbols of runes, many scriptures and books were lost through the years)
A small magic circle appeared above Daichi's right index
Daichi:(you now understand why language is important, can you tell me what this simple spell can do?)
Scarlet:(based on the shape and a few symbols, this should be a simple fire spell)
Daichi:(that's right,now I want you to tell me what can you understand from these three magic circles)
In an instant,three magic circles appeared in the air.
The first of them looked mostly like the one from before, the same shape of the magical circle but it's obvious that the inscriptions are different and more complicated, the second had a different shape but the inscriptions were a few.
The last one looked smaller and despite having a few inscriptions, they looked totally different from the other magic circles, it was obviously another language.
Scarlet looked carefully at each one, and after taking her time in inspecting them,she pointed at the first one:(this one is a fire spell as well, it can probably summon a medium fire tornado,-pointing at the second one- this one is the same as the first one but it can't be activated, the magic circle isn't the one used for fire spells....and this last one, it's definitely a different language, I can't understand it at all)
Daichi didn't flinch as if he was expecting this response:(you tried to use what I told you to describe them, that's good you are able to catch things quickly... Now let me tell you how you can describe these better, you know that all of the fire spells have a certain symbol and a certain magic circle shape in common, and that's how you can recognise them, because witches aren't able read the language, they choose to use the old Spells and combining them with other ones that have similar shapes or similar inscriptions, and that way using trial and error they achieve a new spell...and that's totally wrong on the large scale, the first spell was actually a simple spell that summons a fire like the very first one I showed you, the only difference is that the fire will be able to eat this whole library in a few minutes easily, that's how a simple can be strong in spells, by adding more descriptions to that order, the second one can have the same effect... despite having the same inscription as the weak spell but the shape of the magic circle can make this spell spread to a very wide range, as for the last it's really a different language but I wrote the same thing as the first weak spell.... Though this spell can burn the whole district in a few seconds,can you tell me what did you understand from my explanation?)
Scarlet took a few moments to process what he just said before making an excited face:(knowing the language can help the in making the spells more stable and stronger, shapes can be used to give features the same way as the inscriptions themselves,and finally the languages have different effects on the spells..... Is that why the common language can't be used in the drawn spells while works fine in the enchanted ones?)
Daichi smiled at her reaction and for the first time his left eye was visible, a red eye like his right one but in it a few strange symbols appear, that gave Scarlet a chill through her spine.
Daichi:(after the Genesis wars the different races chose what we call it now the common language as the world's language to unite everyone together, but some old languages were kept, and until today they are used in some spells like the old and ancient language of demons,the divine language of the Eternal Church and more, of course that doesn't mean those who know these languages can use the spells freely, it's not that easy or everyone would be able to enchant whatever they want every second...if you really want to get more knowledge and gain Power as a witch then you should understand what I said)
Scarlet was smiling in excitement this whole time, the hunger for knowledge in her blood is kicking:(this is really a total new way of thinking, with this doing research will be more exciting, I'm ready to learn from you these languages)
Daichi:(I didn't say that I will teach you these languages)
Scarlet:(....huh?) taking a few seconds to process his response, Scarlet just stood in a shock.
Daichi:(I just wanted to teach you the true way of learning witchcraft)
Scarlet raised her voice in anger:(are you just freaking kidding with me?then what should I do?)
Daichi:(you are a witch, you will simply sit here in this library and make your own research, I have the books you need to learn the language of runes some of them are just scriptures from old eras and some are books you cannot find anywhere, but thankfully we are in this very old library, we have everything we need,so?do you want to do that or you want an easy way?)
After realising Daichi's intentions, Scarlet just smiled and of course responded:(of course I will do it, who do you think I am?)
Daichi's thoughts:(even with her mixed blood, a witch is a witch, they can never run from their hunger)
