Chapter 1 - Volume 1: Chapter 1: The Girl and the Losing Heroine Diary

"Sora, doing this kind of thing in the classroom... won't it be dangerous?"

The morning sun was bright and refreshing.

In the classroom with only the two of them, a cute blue-haired girl covered her chest, her pearly white teeth gently biting her thin, pinkish lips. She looked at the boy in front of her uneasily, her pretty face full of shyness and nervousness.

"What if someone walks in on us... what should we do?"

Sitting opposite Yanami Anna, the black-haired boy, Izumi Sora, had a handsome face, fair skin, and clear eyes. Faced with the girl's shyness and hesitation, his expression remained completely unchanged:

"Don't worry, my nickname is the Sharpshooter. Ten seconds is more than enough time for me to empty my magazine."

"B-but..."

Anna's gaze wandered, shyly looking out toward the corridor through the window.

"What if a classmate happens to walk by the window and secretly takes weird photos..."

"Let alone being secretly photographed, even if someone walked in to watch live, I wouldn't be disturbed."

Sora remained expressionless, interrupting his childhood friend in front of him. He patted the desk lightly, issuing an unquestionable order:

"Come here, and lean over properly."

"..."

Facing the boy's sudden assertiveness, Anna could only blush and obediently follow his instructions, nervously leaning over the desk.

"P-please be gentle..."

"Rest assured, I've been killing fish for thirty years. My hands are steadier than a lithography machine."

"Sora, you are clearly only sixteen years old!"

"..."

Sora opened his schoolbag, took out the indispensable auxiliary tool, and looked down at the blue-haired girl resting on the desk.

Her delicate and cute face, sky-blue eyes, snow-white skin that looked as if it had been soaked in milk, her blue hair gently swaying in the morning breeze, and that perfectly proportioned slender waist... Setting aside her gluttonous appetite on par with a sea otter, his childhood friend, Yanami Anna, was indeed a considerably cute, beautiful girl.

At this very moment.

Anna obediently lay on the desk, looking up at him timidly, and gave a nervous reminder:

"Sora, you must be gentle. If you're too rough, I'll get hurt..."

"Keep quiet and don't speak." Sora held the ear pick, accurately probing into the girl's delicate ear canal, his face remaining expressionless from start to finish. "I'm just helping you clean your ears. If you didn't talk so much, we would have finished ages ago."

From kindergarten to high school, Sora and Anna had always been in the same class, representing the absolute standard of childhood friends.

They were on classroom duty today. Right after finishing cleaning, Anna complained about being hungry, then took out a box of cream puffs from her bag and initiated her gluttony mode.

Sora had originally been reading a book seriously when he suddenly heard the girl's tragic cries for help next to his ear:

"Save me, save me, save me, help! My ear is so itchy!"

"Clean it yourself."

"I can't, my hands are covered in cream. It will get inside my ear."

"Go to the restroom and wash your hands."

"It's so uncomfortable, I won't even make it to the restroom... If Sora doesn't help me, I'm going to roll around on the floor!"

"..."

Faced with his childhood friend's pitiful pleas for help, Sora could only agree to lend a hand.

"That's about it... How does it feel now?"

Sora breathed a soft sigh, stood up straight, and asked about the girl's service experience.

"Ehehe~ It feels really good, it doesn't hurt at all." Anna quickly sat up, her pretty face blushing slightly as she shyly tucked the hair around her ear with her slender, scallion-white fingers. "Sora is indeed just as gentle as when we were kids."

Sora put away the ear pick and returned to his seat.

"Since it's not uncomfortable anymore, read your books properly. Don't come crying to me for help when the exams start."

"That's exactly your problem." Anna puffed her pink cheeks unhappily, picked up a cream puff, and tossed it into her mouth with an "Aumm". Her cheeks began to bulge rhythmically, looking like a hamster with its pouches stuffed full of peanuts, her words slurring together. "When your childhood friend praises you, you should clearly be much gentler. Don't just think about grades and studying all the time."

Sora didn't even lift his head, continuing to read his book.

"Don't talk while you're eating."

"Don't worry, I have experience. I definitely won't choke."

"Your spit is going to fly out."

"Ahhhhh! A beautiful girl would never spit while talking!!!"

"..."

Anna quickly finished the remaining cream puffs, then moved to the seat in front of Sora and looked at him with expectant eyes.

"Sora, do you want to eat lunch together at noon?"

"Hmm?"

Sora raised an eyebrow and looked over.

Anna was a standard normie at school with many friends. She had always eaten lunch with her female friends before; why was she inviting him today?

"Because today is the day you meet that accursed thieving cat..."

Anna muttered quietly.

"What did you say?"

Sora tilted his head in confusion, not hearing her clearly.

"It's nothing." Anna stood up, her hands behind her back, a bright smile blossoming on her pretty face, as radiant as the sunshine outside the window. "When I was cooking this morning, I prepared too many ingredients. I couldn't finish it all by myself, so I wanted to share some with you."

"Then it's settled." Anna turned and walked toward the door. "We won't eat in the classroom at noon. Let's go to the emergency stairwell... I'm going to the restroom first."

"Got it."

Sora didn't pay it much mind, casually agreeing.

"Phew..."

Stepping into the corridor, Anna gently exhaled. She turned her head to look at the boy studying seriously in the classroom, secretly watching him for a few seconds before reluctantly withdrawing her gaze.

"Eating lunch with Sora today... the things in the diary definitely won't happen now, right?"

Walking briskly to the restroom, Anna washed her hands, then entered an empty cubicle and secretly took out a diary.

The diary was very ordinary, about the size of a palm, with a pink cover plastered with cartoon stickers. It was a standard notebook bought by the school back in her elementary days.

As everyone knows.

Serious people never write diaries, and those who can persist in writing them are even fewer.

After graduating from elementary school, Anna threw the diary into a drawer and hadn't touched it for many years.

Who knew that when she woke up this morning, the diary would actually be lying next to her pillow.

After curiously opening the diary, an even more unbelievable event occurred.

Those childish scribbles from her elementary school days disappeared paragraph by paragraph, as if wiped away by an invisible eraser, followed closely by lines of completely new text surfacing...

Anna quickly confirmed that she had apparently encountered a supernatural event.

What caught her attention even more were the contents floating up in the diary.

[Losing Heroine Diary — Yanami Anna]

"What an awful name... It's clearly a Future Diary, okay!"

The blue-haired girl puffed her cheeks and complained softly, feeling very unhappy.

Losing heroine?

She was the childhood friend holding the winning card, having stayed by Sora's side since they were young. How could she possibly be a losing heroine!

[When you read this sentence, you are already destined to die alone...]

"Dying alone or whatever, I absolutely refuse!"

[XX Year XX Month XX Day]

[Weather: Sunny]

[You woke up and obtained a Losing Heroine Diary capable of observing the future.]

[You were initially skeptical, but while passing by someone's front door, you personally witnessed a chasing cat knock a flowerpot off the second floor. The time and location were exactly identical to the future recorded in the diary, and you thoroughly believed in the magic of the Losing Heroine Diary.]

[You were extremely happy. While passing through the shopping district, you decided to buy desserts to celebrate properly.]

[For dinner, you chose to eat a Volcano Beef Rice Bowl to continue celebrating.]

[A week later, you chose to eat Mapo Tofu to celebrate.]

[Three years of high school passed. The boy you like, Izumi Sora, was admitted to Tokyo University. Your academic performance was poor, and you parted ways with Izumi Sora.]

[After graduating from university, Izumi Sora and Shiina Mahiru got married.]

[At the wedding ceremony, wearing a hat, you sat all alone in a solitary corner. The only one keeping you company was a doggie.]

[It was only when chatting with friends that you realized the very day you discovered the Losing Heroine Diary was the day your childhood friend was stolen away.]

[That night, you got blackout drunk.]

[Waking up the next day with a hangover, you boarded a plane and went abroad, eventually growing old and dying all alone.]
