The villa felt the same.
But Shen Yichen didn't.
Not anymore.
There was no scanning before entering a room.
No silent calculation of distance.
No reflexive tightening when Lin Yue moved out of his immediate space.
It all still existed in memory—
but not in behavior.
Lu Han observed him quietly.
"You've settled into it," he said.
Shen Yichen nodded once.
"…Yes," he replied.
Lin Yue looked at him softly.
"And how does it feel now?" she asked.
Shen Yichen paused.
"…Lighter," he said quietly.
A pause.
"And quieter inside my head."
Silence.
That was the part he noticed most.
Not absence of fear.
But absence of constant interpretation.
Lu Han stepped forward slightly.
"So you're no longer living in prediction mode," he said.
Shen Yichen shook his head once.
"No."
A pause.
"I'm just… here."
Silence.
That simplicity used to be impossible.
Lin Yue stepped slightly closer.
Shen Yichen noticed—but nothing in him reacted sharply anymore.
Just recognition.
She was near.
And she stayed.
Lin Yue spoke softly.
"You're not bracing for loss anymore," she said.
Shen Yichen didn't deny it.
"…No," he said.
A pause.
"I think I stopped doing that without realizing when."
Silence.
Lu Han exhaled slowly.
"That's what integration looks like when it stabilizes," he said.
Shen Yichen looked at him.
"I used to think I would always feel it," he said quietly.
A pause.
"The fear."
Silence.
Lin Yue tilted her head slightly.
"But you don't now," she said gently.
Shen Yichen looked at her for a long moment.
"…It still exists," he said quietly.
A pause.
"But it doesn't lead anymore."
Silence.
That distinction mattered more than anything else.
Lu Han nodded slightly.
"You've reached emotional autonomy," he said.
Shen Yichen didn't respond immediately.
Then quietly:
"I don't feel like I became someone else," he said.
A pause.
"I feel like I stopped reacting before understanding."
Silence.
Lin Yue smiled faintly.
"That's growth," she said softly.
Shen Yichen looked at her.
"…Then I think I grew slowly enough to not break," he said quietly.
A pause.
"And I didn't lose you in the process."
Silence.
Lin Yue stepped closer again.
This time, there was no reaction at all inside him except calm awareness.
She stayed.
She spoke softly.
"You were never going to lose me just because you learned how to breathe," she said.
Shen Yichen nodded once.
"…I believe that now," he said quietly.
A pause.
"And I don't need to check anymore to prove it."
Silence.
Lu Han stepped back slightly, almost satisfied.
"You've completed the transition," he said.
Shen Yichen looked at him.
"I think I've just started living after it," he said quietly.
Silence.
And for the first time—
there was no fear shaping the space between them.
Only presence.
Shared.
Unforced.
Real.
