Lin Sanjiu immediately leaped up from the firelight. As she signaled for Bohemia to retreat silently with her into the darkness of the church corridor, her "pure touch" extended its feelers in all directions. Yet, within the web of air currents it captured, there was not the slightest sign of anyone nearby.
Her head fuzzy from a severe cold, she waited quietly for a few seconds before finally looking up in confusion.
"Just wait." The Puppeteer had no intention of concealing his presence. The two cool words echoed slowly through the dim church.
'How did he know someone was coming?'
Lin Sanjiu and Bohemia exchanged a glance, seeing the same confusion reflected in each other's eyes.
She gestured for Bohemia to stay put and crept toward the church entrance. The dilapidated main door was slightly ajar, letting in a night breeze as cool as water. Peeking through the crack, she saw only an expanse of pitch-black shadows of varying shapes, with no sign of movement.
