SHADOW BETWEEN STARS
Lior has always heard the stars speak in a language no one else can understand. One restless night on the edge of an abandoned observatory, that quiet pull becomes a summons: a living shimmer of light on the horizon, an orb of blue-violet energy that calls them across the boundary between worlds.
They step through and fall into the Between—a realm of black-glass plains veined with starlight, drifting constellations that move too slowly, and ruins that remember older wars. Hunters of pure shadow pour through the weakening seams of reality, drawn to any presence that does not fully belong to a single world. Lior is such a presence: a Thin One, able to touch doors others cannot even see.
In a sealed chamber of breathing stone and living symbols, Lior meets three who have already survived the Between. Kael, iron-still and relentless, fights as though every motion has already been decided. Nyx, sharp-edged and laughing, moves like freedom given blades. Seris, half-light and half-memory, speaks for the boundaries themselves. Together they teach Lior that power without control is only a louder way to die.
Through instinct, terror, and hard-won stillness, Lior learns to open sealed ruins, to hold light as invitation rather than weapon, and finally to claim a fragment left by the Thin One who came before—an anchor of the old boundary itself. The fragment brings memory, strength, and a second heartbeat that makes Lior far more visible to the things that hunt.
Now the seals hold a little longer. The shadows gather a little closer. And the stars keep watching, waiting to see whether this new Thin One will spend the borrowed time the way the last one did… or find another way entirely.
