Chapter 47 - Dance - Chapter 39

"S-Sara? Violet? Ivy? Where are we going?" Vikky asked, her voice full of nervousness.

We had managed to get her to trust us enough to blindfold her and pull her out of Supernova's learning center and towards a different facility entirely.

As we walked along the pathway, Ivy holding a hand and Violet holding her other, I walked backwards on the pathway, growing more and more excited.

"Don't worry Vikky. We are taking you to the next best thing you'll ever see! Truly! It's a great suprise!"

"I-I hope so…" she sounded wary. "Jewel and David are alone right now…I hope they don't miss me too much. I…I usually stay for the whole lunch period, not just half."

"Believe me, Alex can look after a couple kids, no problem!" Ivy tried to reassure her. Violet snickered, flashing a evil grin at the brown-blonde haired girl on the other side of Vikky.

"Practice for when you too finally get your own? Right?" She joked evilly. Ivy's whole face went beet red. She grabbed Vikky's arm a little too tight in her shock, causing the girl to flinch.

Ivy instantly apologized. She looked at Violet with a misty eyes, pouting frustratedly. "If you make another weird joke about me and him being together, Violet, I'm gonna make it rain so hard, you're hair dye will drip out!!"

At that moment, we all heard the sound of thunder. Violet winced her face paled as she pulled Vikky along faster.

"This weather girl is crazy. C-Cmon Vikky, let's get inside, let's get inside."

I rolled my eyes at the sight and opened the doors to the building. We had finally reached where we were taking Vikky.

"Are you ready, Vikky?" I asked, smiling brightly. She pursed her lips nervously but nodded. I removed the blindfold from her face, and then, moved away. "Suprise!!"

She opened her eyes slowly. And then, I watched as she tensed. At first, I was worried that this Suprise would be an unwelcome one, when suddenly….

"!!!" A flicker of all kinds of emotions passed Vikky's face. Two managed to stay on the longest for me to recognize. Suprise and excitement. The girl's violet eyes that had never once before lit up so strongly unless she was staring at her siblings looked like she had a million little stars in them.

Ivy, Violet, and I looked between one another, feeling a little proud. Our idea worked!

"So?" Violet started. "Check it out! Supernova Academy's very own dance studio! Are you excited?"

"Since…since when was, since when was this here?" Vikky asked, sounding choked up. Her eyes turned to the wall of mirrors and the several wooden dance bars besides them. There was also two state of the art speakers and a laptop to control music. She took it all in with fascination, like a kid in a candy store. "This is all…it's been so long."

"Sara remembered somewhere seeing that, you used to dance? You even…applied to be Gracelyn's assistant not too long ago, right?" Violet spoke up.

Vikky turned around flushed, perhaps embarrassed. "W-how did you guys know that? I…I got turned down, though. I thought she must've forgotten me. At the hospital, she surely didn't recognize me. Well…it's expected. I look so different now.

Although Vikky had changed a bit, she was taller now and her hair longer and her facial features more angular, she still was easily recognizable as the girl in the resume photo.

"That's not the case at all, Vikky. As her her decision ? It was, simply because of your age, Vikky. Gracelyn does so much traveling for work so, she needs someone who could move freely. That doesn't mean you were under qualified."

"T-That's right… it didn't matter anyways because soon after they," she started talking, and then she stopped. I was close to speaking up, when Violet placed a hand on my arm, stopping me. I remained quiet and waited for her to speak, even though the silence was starting to feel uncomfortable.

"My parents had Jewel soon after I applied to that job. If nothing had ever been discovered before I left, perhaps it wouldve still been possible for me to stay…"

"Discovered?" Ivy questioned quietly. Vikky pursed her lips.

"…my powers only manifested the day Jewel was born. And they…they were what killed her. My mom."

Silence echoed through the empty dance studio. Stunned, I felt myself falter a bit in my steps. "W-What did you say?"

Ivy and I we're continually staring at each other for confirmation they had heard things right. Violet had remained expressionless, as if waiting for Vikky to continue talking.

"That day…at the hospital. The doctors said that my mom was loosing so much blood and the birth complications, that they would surely end up killing them both. They said…there wasn't much they could do to save her. It was, an emotional day. I-I hadn't slept in so long and usually that would've been fine but-but today? Ha…everytime I sleep I just wish…I had gotten a like more rest before I…huuu…."

It was the soft tears rolling down the freshman's cheeks that woke us from our shock. Right now, there was no way that we could still remain indifferent or scared!

Violet rushed over first, hugging the girl tightly. Vikky, shocked, stiffened up. But, the tears only poured down harder.

Ivy hugged her next. As i approached to give her a hug, my mind started racing.

A girl. Brown hair, freckles, a water current. So many years ago…what was this sudden memory causing my head to spin? And why was Vikky's story causing me to remember it?

"My father wanted to restart her heartbeat. He paid for the best powered doctor at the hospital to use their electro current magic to do so. We-but we couldn't afford it. We-we barely afforded the hospital room for my mom as is. The doctor could only give her an extremely low dosage of current to try and restart her heart, but, i-it wasn't enough!"

"V-Vikky." Violet gritted her teeth, her face morbid. "You…you don't have to keep—"

"—my magic manifested and…I manipulated the doctors powers to use a higher dosage but—it—the d-dosage was too—my mom!"

She started sobbing even harder. I held my head and winced a little, my mind racing even more than before.

The sound of hands scratching wooden floors. A dark voice. A clock ticking? Why was it like, in these memories. Like I was using some kind of ability? A second power?

'Impossible. Fire is my only power.' I brushed the thought away instantly. I had been a fire user like everyone else of full blood relation in my family had. My birth mom and dad. My grandparents, the list goes on

"Sara, are you-" Ivy glanced at me to ask, as my head was still in my hands. Violet had managed to comfort Vikky enough to stop crying. To which, I relaxed after seeing. I sighed and smiled wearily at Ivy.

"Just a random feeling of Déjà vu, is all."
