Chapter 260 - Merchant chapter 245

The soul fragment raged and begged as I began but I ignored it. Figuring out the ritual it had used in the original timelines to "resurrect" itself was laughably easy. It was a simple conversion ritual. A life for a life. Or to be more specific a certain sum of lifeforce for a soul actualization. Effectively the entire process was just siphoning lifeforce from a person and slowly transforming that into a physical vessel for the soul fragment to "possess".-

Human lifeforce naturally was the only acceptable kind and a witch or wizards was preferable. As it stood I just so happened to have a person around with a literal endless amount of lifeforce who fit the bill. Salem was more than happy to donate on the condition she got to observe the entire process since seeing a soul fragment get "resurrected" was a new one for her. The soul fragment barely got to enjoy the feeling of life before I lifted it by the throat and started taking it's things. Magic, Slytherin bloodline, Peverell bloodline and skills all taken before I fried the body to ash and then sold the diary with the soul to the shop.-

I wasted no time at all adding the bloodlines to myself and storing away the rest.

"How does that work? The bloodlines I mean?" Salem asked while circling me with an appraising eye.

"Ancestry is a funny thing. The person you are looking at right now is the result of countless generation of people who came before. I'm not entirely certain, but my theory is that some barely relevant ancestors genes get replaced by the bloodline genetics so the person doesn't change beyond the things added with the bloodline." I explain.

"Interesting. I'm curious though, why add these bloodlines rather than just the abilities they grant?" she asked curiously.

"There are certain magics that are tied to bloodline. In this case there's a certain thousand year old serpent king in Hogwarts that is tied to the command of the Slytherin bloodline. I intend to claim it for my own thus I needed that bloodline. As for the Peverell bloodline? That was merely insurance in the off chance I end up with one of the three hallows. I have a theory that they are cursed against anyone without that bloodline." I explained calmly.

"The resurrection stone, the deathstick and the cloak of invisibility. You said the last two were in the possession of the Potter child and Dumbledore. Are you intending to take either of those or claim the stone?" she asked with an intrigued look.

"I have no want for any of those things but fate can be a funny thing sometimes. What I might desire not even a little may in the end be in my hands." I said frankly.

"And what you may want the most might never. Yes I am aware of the way things tend to work out. I spent centuries trying to obtain the relics that Ozma squirrelled away and came to nothing." she said with a tinge of bitterness.

"Well if it's any consolation only two of those four are any good. The other two are only useful if you have great timing or are immortal." I say with a shrug.

"You know what the relics do? Ozma never shared that information so i only had the aftermath of their use to try and understand them." she said surprised.

"The relics of creation, destruction, choice and knowledge. A staff, sword, crown and a lamp respectively. The first houses an artificial spirit that can create anything so long as supplied details. The second destroys anything it touches with the sole exception being you due to your immortality. The third grants a vision of the future, more a curse than anything honestly. The final possesses an artificial spirit capable of answering any three nonfuture related questions per century." I explained casually.

"The crown and lamp are the ones that require immortality or great timing." she said nodding in understanding.

"Quite so. Personally I would desire the staff above all else. With the right knowledge and thus details you could manufacture a great many things at exactly zero cost to yourself." I said shaking my head.

"Surely retrieving the staff wouldn't be hard for you right?" she asked tilting her head in confusion.

"Getting the thing isn't the issue. Leaving with it is. Those are relics of the twin gods, not some man made thing nobody will care about going permanently missing from reality. I'm almost willing to bet money those two will intervene the moment my fingers touch even one relic." I said seriously.

She looked thoughtful at that but didn't argue as it made sense. Without those relics their return condition simply wouldn't be met and they definitely wouldn't allow that.-

"What about me and Ozma? They didn't show up when you appeared before us." she pointed out.

"That may be true but has it not occurred to you that neither of you are actually that important to them? It's entirely likely that they did what they did and immediately stopped caring until someone collects all four relics and summons them." I say frankly.
