Chapter 6 - the new director

Dining Room, Lee Mansion - Night

Soo Young's smile froze. "What... director?"

Aara tilted her head, calm. "Why? You don't like that name?"

"No, no," Soo Young forced a laugh. "I'm just asking."

Jimmy leaned back, enjoying the moment. "It seems like you guys still don't know that. Dad is going to introduce Aara to all our business. So from today onwards, my little sister is one of the directors of Lee's Group."

Aara played with her wine glass. "It's bad to know that I'm just a director of Lee's Group... I thought I'd be vice president."

Soo Young's eyes widened. "What?"

Jay slammed his hand lightly on the table. "Enough, Aara."

The maid announced: "The President is coming."

Mr. Lee walked in, looking tired but happy. "Okay, everyone is here. It's good to see all. Our family is now complete."

Jimmy turned to his sister. "Yes, Dad. Aara, why can't you study here too? Don't go back to England."

Soo Young cut in quickly. "England's education system is better than our country. She can study more there and increase her knowledge."

Jimmy smiled coldly. "But my dear stepmother, you still don't know — our country's education system is also upgraded now."

Mr. Lee raised his hand. "It's Aara's decision. She can go back if she wants, or if she doesn't want to, she can study here."

" Dad also accepts that," Jimmy said. "Please join here, little sister."

Aara looked around the grand dining room, her voice sharp. "No. I hate to see some people's faces. And this place is dirty. I can't."

Mr. Lee sighed. "If she doesn't want to, then she doesn't want to. Everyone, let's start our dinner. Because today's dinner is amazing. This is for our new director, Aara."

Everyone raised their wine glasses and cheered for Aara — except two people, who hated Mr. Lee's decision with all their hearts.

That Night - Jimmy's Room

Late at night, Aara found her brother drinking alone in his room.

She walked in and took the bottle from him. "I have to go back to London tomorrow. If you look like this, how can I?"

Jimmy gave a sad smile. "It's okay, Aara. You can go. Don't worry about me. Oppa is alright, I'm fine, so don't worry."

"Oppa, please forget her," Aara whispered. "She chose money, not you."

"I'm not thinking about her, Aara," Jimmy's voice broke. "I failed to save you. Because of me, you went to study far away."

"Nooo," Aara shook her head, tears falling. "It's not your fault. Please don't blame yourself."

Jimmy held her shoulders. "I'm okay, Aara. You go and complete your studies. I promise... I'll wait for you here."

Aara hugged her brother tightly, and both of them cried silently.

Next Day - Morning

Aara was packing her things, ready to go back to London.

"Grande," she said, "take care of my dad and my brother. If anything happens, please inform me immediately."

"Don't worry, Aara," Grande bowed. "I'll take care."

Jay appeared in the doorway, trying to provoke her.

"It's a pity," Jay smirked. "I can't see my little sister whenever I want."

Aara zipped her bag, not looking at him. "Don't worry. I'll come soon and take over the company."

"You..." Jay clenched his fists, angry.

After that, she left for the airport. Leo and So Min were already waiting there.

Leo looked at her luggage. "So... you're going back again?"

"I came to meet Jimmy oppa," Aara said. "But I don't need to worry now because you guys are here. So I'm going to complete my studies without worry. Please take care of my brother."

"We will, don't worry," Leo said. "And you take care of yourself."

Aara looked at him seriously. "Oppa, I want to see you as a good prosecutor after I come back. Please help me to find the mystery behind my mother's death."

Leo nodded, his eyes steady. "Then I'll wait for you here."

Aara turned to her best friend. "Bye, So Min-ah."

"Take care of yourself," So Min whispered.

Aara hugged So Min tightly. So Min cried as Aara walked toward the gate.

And so, Aara went back to England and started her studies again. And Leo studied harder than ever to become a prosecutor in Korea — for her.
