Jillyanna got out of the car after Travis made sure that no one had followed them. The night was deep and quiet, the city lights dropping a soft, amber glow onto the damp asphalt beneath their feet. Travis killed the engine, stepped out into the cool air, and raised his head to look at the apartment complex standing before him.
"You live here?" Travis asked, a subtle note of confusion lacing his voice, since he knew that Jillyanna provided a different address to the hotel they went to last time. He shifted his weight, his sharp eyes taking in the modern facade, looking for any sign that would reconcile the conflicting information she had given him over the past few weeks.
