Unable to fall asleep, Torren couldn't stop thinking about Shawney. His restlessness eased the moment the two children came to his bed. With their distraction, he gradually settled down.
But the thought of where Shawney wasn't erased from his mind.
When he finally fell asleep, not knowing for how long. The knocking came once more to disturb his rest. "Dear God, it's Sunday, can't I at least get to sleep without this constant disturbance?" Frustration flared up especially when the two children woke it.
Torren sits up on the bed, only this time it was not on his room door. Listening carefully to realise it was on Shawney's door. "Oh Lord, haven't they found her yet?'
With that in mind, Torren gets off the bed, seeing the time was ten o'clock.'
Concerns build up, 'Where could she be? She slept here during the night, but sometime during the morning period, she slips out.'
Standing outside her door, knocking, calling out to her, "Shawney, are you in there?"
But she answers from downstairs, turning only to see her in a beautiful pink flowered dress.
Walking with the bible under her arm and a bag with fresh vegetables. "Shawney, you went to church?"
"Yes, what is wrong?"
"Candis said, Careen needs you."
Observing she went to the kitchen, put the bag, then she ran up to Careen's room.
Shawney observed how Lasandra and Candis were panicking, but she knew it wasn't her due date yet.
"Aye, come on, take a deep breath and try to relax? You know you still have two weeks, but I will still call the doctor just in case?"
Holding her hand, "Now let me help you up, you need to do some walking, your muscles must be stiff with all that lying down."
After half an hour of walking, Shawney said, "Very good, I am sure you are feeling much better now?"
When she said, "Yes!" Shawney went and straightened her bed, spreading fresh bed linen and fixed a warm bath for her.
Lasandra and Candis just stood and looked on when they heard Shawney ask, "Careen, when will Carl be coming home?"
Hearing her say, "By Wednesday," then she asks, "Shawney, how come you know what I should do? I have gotten great relief."
"We should praise the Lord and give thanks, now try and stay calm and relax."
"But Shawney, how did you know what I should do?"
"Careen, when I was on the road travelling, I met a friend, her doctor had instructed her to do half an hour walking, and practice her breathing exercise.
I have learned many different things while travelling, on the road, as I visited different villages. I met people who cook differently, and they teach their children differently, yet it is effective. Their wearing were also different, due to their culture and traditions, yet all these methods are efficient and workable."
Helping her with the breathing exercise. Shawney says to Lasandra, "You should learn this; it will be helpful to you also."
Observing how relaxed she was, Shawney asked, "How is the back feeling now?"
"Oh, Shawney, I am feeling so much better, thank you so much. I thought it was time to go to the hospital."
"Okay, lie down and let me put the hot towel on your back, then I will squeeze your feet for a few minutes."
Shawney had only alighted the stairs when Gretta came running and grabbed hold of her legs, saying, "Foodie"
Scooping her up in her arms, Shawney kissed her chubby cheeks, asking, "You haven't eaten any foodie yet?"
"Tea!"
"You only drink tea?"
Seeing her nod." Okay, let's see what Aunty Louise has for our baby to eat."
"Me baby?"
"Yes, honey, you are daddy, pretty baby girl," entering the kitchen. "Aunty Louise, what does it have for our baby to eat?"
"I am not done yet, and thanks for the fresh vegetables."
"No problem, when I saw those, it reminded me of home, how fresh and nice the vegetables used to be."
Shawney observed the macaroni draining, knowing kids love macaroni, took a fair portion from the bottom and put it on a plate.
Then, she went and got a piece of cheese and grated it, all the time, Gretta never leaving her side. Mixing it up quickly so the cheese could melt. "Honey, let us get your brother."
Tired and hungry herself, she called Tray, and the three of us ate.
Hearing the laughter, Torren came out of his office, seeing that his children were happy with her while she ate, and fed them.
Asking her, "Shawney, how is Careen doing now?"
She didn't raise her head as she focused on feeding both of them, but said, "She will be okay."
"Did you go to church?"
"Yes!"
"So why didn't you tell me? I would have liked to attend Church with you."
When Tray said, "Me to daddy."
"Okay, buddy, next time we will all go to church. Now I want you two to be good for me, and later we will go to the pool."
Seeing how happy they were, she returned to her room, feeling sweaty and tired. Shawney slowly undressed, then went and took a cold, long shower.
Feeling cool knowing she will get a good sleep. Pulling on a house dress, and went into Torren's room.
Putting on the air conditioner, then lying down on the bed. "Sweetheart, aren't you afraid that someone sees you coming into my room and our secret will be exposed?"
"No one will see me, I promise you."
Recalling he had locked the door, looking at how she made herself comfortable in the bed, not a care in the world. "So how did she get in?"
