Opening his eyes, Torren felt the paper in his hand, but the memory of what had occurred before he fell asleep was unexplainable.
'Dalia and I had loved each other, but with Shawney, it is so different and exceptional.' Opening the note, he read that she had gone with Careen to the hospital. Torren knew that Carl needed to know he was going to be a father."
Hurrying downstairs, Torren calls Carl's work station, leaving a message for him. He then came to the children who were making noise. Torren remembers that Shawney promised to take them to the pool.
Gretta was already in her bathing suit, and Tray in his bathing trunk, all ready to go and full of excitement.
Having no choice but to fill in the gap while Shawney is at the hospital, Torren knew it would not be nice to disappoint the children.
Hurrying upstairs, Torren changes, then takes his lunch in a kit. Throwing the kid's towel over his shoulder as they walk down by the pool.
It was so nice to hear the children laugh and have fun in the water.
Memories flooded back to Shawney as they spend time before he had fallen asleep.
"Every time we shared our bodies, it was so special and unforgettable. It feels like I don't get enough of her. It feels so much like a treasure map, getting a small piece that keeps pushing me to search for more. I have never tasted such joy before, Lord. Is this for real? Show me how to be thankful for your blessing. It has to be you who allowed her and Dad to cross paths, so that we could meet. I thank you for sending her to me, Lord. I will serve you wholeheartedly for the gift you have given me."
So lost in his thoughts that the time had gone by so quickly that when he heard Gretta sneeze, he realised they had stayed a bit too long in the water.
Taking both of them out quickly, giving Tray his towel, "Hurry and dry yourself, son, doing the same with Gretta, then take her up.
"Come on, son," Seeing Liz coming down the stairs, "Liz, it seems I kept Gretta too long in the water."
"Don't worry, Sir, every time she goes to the pool she comes out sneezing, but I will attend to her immediately."
"Thank you. Is there any news of Dad and the others?"
"Are they out of the house, Sir?"
Seeing the questionable look, "Never mind," thinking 'Before Shawney came to live in the house, Liz and Miss Louise knew everything that went on in the house.
Now, Shawney kept certain information under wraps. Hearing Liz say she will attend to them.
He heads upstairs to his room, thinking, 'after I change, I will call the hospital; they left before one, and now it's after six already.'
Opening his door, Torren noticed Shawney fast asleep on his bed. The dishes she had eaten in were set aside on the centre table, where I keep my medication.
Locking my door, 'Our secret is exciting, now I can sneak in whenever I want, just as she does to me.
It was so worrying how we could be together, especially when all eyes were on us, but from that second night of our marriage, she was already in my bed.
Dalia was never like Shawney, just comfortable with whatever, but from what I observed with Shawney, she is a go-getter. Always finding a way to fix a situation.'
Smiling as I think, 'I must thank the genius who built my closet in secret, making the secret door. I wonder if he ever thought my precious wife would discover this secret, or that my marriage would have to be concealed. Or was it God who was preparing this? Knowing this would be our predicament, and it would work into our circumstance perfectly.'
Looking at her sleep without a thought in the world, 'Not caring if anyone would find her here when it was she that wanted us to keep her secret.'
At the beginning of July, the baby was already three weeks old, and Careen was able to move and attend to the baby.
Shawney never left the nursery, so I had to sneak in to get a glimpse of her. All her time was spent caring for Careen and the baby.
Time was flying so quickly that it had already been ten weeks since we had gotten married. Going into her room after work, seeing her asleep, but her sandal was still on her foot. She hadn't visited the hospital in a while, but it seems she went out today.
Unstrapping it, Torren looks at her face, but then his eyes catch the tear stain. Wondering, 'Who must have told her something hurtful for her to be crying?'
"Why were you crying, my love?" When his eyes caught the paper flying past his foot, as the breeze blew it?
Bending down, Torren picked it up, seeing it was a letter from her lawyer, informing her that her Uncle was unwell.
'She hasn't said anything to me, but it seems she has informed her lawyer where she is.'
Hearing her mumbling something, thinking, 'She must be dreaming of her Uncle,' hearing her calling his name, saying, "How sorry she was."
Recalling, 'What she did to her family must be hurting her? And it has become a heavy burden. "I must insist that she return to her family and undo that heavy burden so she can be happy.'
A few days had passed, and seeing how quiet she was, I knew she was hurting, but she was also thinking about me.
