Chapter 29 - Chapter 29 – Combat Exchange in the Alnus Base

Third-person POV

After noontime is over, the ripple effects of the Tokyo summit and the MPC leaders' four full roasting rounds at the delegations of the Big Three had a nasty effect on Washington, Beijing, and Moscow. In the White House, the current American president Dirrel was super pissed off by what Leo and the other six MPC heads of state had said to his American delegation. He remembered shaking hands with Leo when he was elected as President of the Philippines a couple of months ago. Now, he saw that Leo had transitioned from a soft-spoken head of state to a hardcore nationalist and protectionist who played the geopolitical chess game not in rigid, hardcore mode, but in an audacious rules-free mode.

"Why him…?" he hissed while watching and replaying the news feed of the American envoy being struck by his own shoe by Paul Suharto, "…why does the Philippines had to be unrecognized just because of a conspiracy that they cannot tolerate? Did they even know how globalization and opportunities made everything cheap and accessible to everyone?"

He clutched his head as if to keep it from exploding. "Why? Leo even insulted my country's robust suburbia and even threatened to ban Ford cars in his home turf! He hated cars, the markers of human convenience and modernity? I did not recognize him anymore…"

And then, calls of distress came from the shareholders of Ford and other big, multinational corporations flooded his telephones in the White House for half of this afternoon.

They spoke of potential loss profits in the Philippines and the other six MPC nations and from being blocked at the Ginza gate.

The White House was full of stress and karmic despair.

But, across the Ginza gate and into the fields of the Alnus Base in the Special Region, the combat exchange between the JSDF and the MPC agents commenced. Ferdinand and the other captains of the other six MPC contingents are overseeing their teams' skills, and these teams showcased their gunnery skills by shooting series of wooden targets:

The NBI, BIN, and the ABIN utilized their M40 rifles, standard service pistols, and HK416 rifles, the far latter which the NBI and BIN acquired from the ABIN agents from Brazil.

EYP, MİT, and AISE got a few HK416 rifles and HK G36 rifles from Brazil and Turkey and used them for their skill showcase alongside their standard service pistols.

Hazama, Itami, Jun, and the other JSDF soldiers and a squad of observing Falmart soldiers were in awe to see their skills. James and Odesa showcased their Filipino arnis skills at a few dummy scarecrows with their standard daggers. They and the other MPC agents are currently awaiting their customized cultural blades to be finished being forged by the blacksmiths of Falmart. The blacksmiths had a few crates of food, medicine, and recipe books from all seven MPC nations in exchange for making the MPC agents' blades according to their cultural backgrounds.

By 3:20 p.m., it was the JSDF's turn to showcase their weapons and guns to another set of wooden targets and scarecrows draped in broken Falmart knight gear. Ferdinand and other six captains of the MPC agents were observing their skills with clinical analysis like observers of some high-end tech show. They observed how the Japanese soldiers fire their guns and what weapons they used and had on hand.

"Man, astig sila!" one NBI agents enthusiastically commented.

"Sim!" shouted Thiago. "They are so cool!"

"Excellent, arkadaşlarım (my friends in Turkish)," Barış added with a soft chuckle. "That was outstanding for a self-defense force."

"Thank you, Yapıcı-san," replied Jun with a bow.

Meanwhile, in another side of the field, there was a little trivia between Kuribayashi and Buana. "Wait, if you're a Muslim woman but in service as a BIN agent," Kuribayashi said to Buana, "are you allowed to do that?"

Buana then let out a hearty laugh. "Yes, of course. Indonesia isn't an Islamic theocracy or something. It was a fully-fledged secular republic that recognized six religions officially. That means women like me had rights like men."

 "Wow…"

"Don't forget about me, guys!" Odesa chirped while walking towards them. "Ang Pilipinas ay may women rights rin!

Back in the other side of the fields, as some MPC agents and JSDF soldiers cleaned up the mess the combat exchange had made, it was snack time for everyone in the Alnus Base. The Indonesian agents whipped some Indomie, the Filipino team made some Banana Kue and baked some pandesal and made some shawarma stuffed with vegetables, pork, beef, and cheese. The Italian ones made a few plates of maritozzo. Drinks are water, coffee (both 3-in-1 and non-Filipino ones), and brewed Japanese tea. "Itadakimasu!" everyone said in unison before eating up and taking a few sips of their drinks.

"Man!" one JSDF soldier laughed. "Our humanitarian aid in Dane Woods was something else!"

"Yeah, man," his Japanese comrade added, "the MPC agents really nailed their easy-to-make recipes for the impoverished commoners."

"Evet," replied one Turkish agent, "we handed out small pamphlets of our common-knowledge recipes with pictures since the majority of them are illiterate."

"Sí," Margaret responded, "I think we might need to be teachers to the commoners so they at least know how to read and write."

"Yes, we need permission from our MPC heads of state first," Estevao Da replied while taking a sip of his paper cup of Japanese tea, "and we have to learn whatever writing system and language this world or kingdom uses."

"You know," Hazama said to the MPC teams, "you guys aren't literally soldiers by position, but you guys are to your home countries!"

"Yup, we are soldiers actively and consistently serving our homelands!" one Italian AISE agent Renata Gataki chirped while raising her glass of cold Greek Frappé.

Everyone did so as a toast for their diplomatic war against the Big Three hegemony and for their bond with each other.
