Li Qinghe shook the paper in the air, signaling the Chief Palace Maid to take another clear look, then turned and left with Wang Linglan.
The Chief Palace Maid was left standing in the wind alone, bewildered. She couldn't believe her eyes as she watched Li Qinghe's back disappear behind the screen, completely shocked. This mute girl actually dared to disrespect her like this? Didn't she know she represented Consort Rou? How dare she refuse Consort Rou's invitation like this? Didn't she want to marry the Prince?
Oh... wait... Consort Rou never really intended to approve of the marriage between the Prince and this Pearl Collector. Whether or not this mute girl goes to the palace today, Consort Rou wouldn't agree. Moreover, today's summoning by Consort Rou was simply meant to humiliate her and make her retreat on her own.
Now, the mute girl directly refused the invitation; did she perhaps already understand Consort Rou's intention?
